Dissertation: Cold War Playboys: Models of Masculinity in the Literature of Playboy argues that the literature published in Playboy magazine responds to Cold War redefinitions of space and sexuality. While a necessary component for its own masculinity model, Playboys literature often destabilizes the magazine's grand narrative by presenting readers with alternative models of masculinity.
