One Act Play

Plot: The play starts off in the western port in France (Saint Denis-dAnjou). As the play progresses the setting will be located out at sea ( North Pacific Ocean). Then for the ending of the play they finish 3 days away from their destination New York.

Characters: Narrator Charles Berg Drew Weston John (One of Charles Crew members) Eric (One of Charles Crew members)

Introduction: The waves are crashing against the docks splashing the people who were trying to load their ship with food, water, and some trading goods. The sunset look like a beautiful picture created by only the best painters in France. People started to light candles and torches as it is getting a bit dark along the Saint Denis-dAnjou waterfront. Many people who were working on the docks started to head home because of the exploration in search of new land. Most nights in July and August were load because most ships returned and the crews would go to the local bars and become complete drunk.

Dialogue and Stage Directions:

Narrator: In the summer of 1596 both of Drews parents died. His father died due to drinking everyday and his mother died from an illness called smallpox why Drew didnt die is a mystery to us all. Drew is a depressed young man who no longer cares about himself now Drew pickpockets and steals in order to stay alive wishing one day that he will be with his parents again. Narrator: Charles Berg his life has always been rich. His parents are rich so he basically can do what ever he wants because he will inherit all of the family businesses and all of the family money. Right now Charles is an explorer because he just wants to become famous for discovering something that no one has ever seen.

Charles: (Pointing to the Ocean) Are we all ready to set sail tomorrow men!?

Crew members: (Standing behind Charles not moving) Yes sir, were ready sir.

Charles: ( Walks off stage) Alright then have a good nights sleep.

Crew members: (Walks of stage) You too sir.

Narrator: The next day Charles and his crew were walking towards his ship. (Charles and his crew walked towards the ship with their bags)

Charles: Are we all ready for this long exploration?

Crew Members: ( Walk at a faster pace than Charles) Yes we are.

Narrator: (Drew is on his knees with his head facing the floor) Drew sees the men loading up the ship in preparation of their voyage. Drew sees Charles and dashes out towards him grabs his bag, but sadly trips on a rock. (even though he tried out of pure desperation) Charles crew members hold up Drew by his arms.

Charles: What is your name?

Drew: Drew, Drew Weston.

Charles: (smiling at the slender man with his tattered clothing) Why did you try to take my bag.

Drew: (Stuttering and stumbling on his words in a sad yet frightened voice) So I could get on with my by selling what ever goods you had in your bag and keeping what ever I thought was necessary for me to keep.

Charles: (With his hands folded glancing at his watch) Alright, I will give you an option to become one of my company or to take my bags.

Drew: (Saying it in a excited voice) I choose to become one of your crew! I choose to become one of your crew!

Charles: (Crew members let Drew go) Ok then guys let him go.

Narrator: Drew excited because for once in his life he has a job. They board the ship and set sail. A few weeks into the journey Charles starts to bullying Drew because of his lack of success in life.

Drew: ( Hands out in Y) Charles what is the feel that you get from bullying me!

Charles: (Looking in to the sky) I makes me feel alive.

Drew: (saying it seriously) Well I could you lay off the bullying.

Charles: (saying angrily) Your going to tell me what to do on my ship

Drew: (saying angrily) Yeah what you gona do to me!?

Charles: Im the one who put you on this ship. I gave you a new life, and your going to tell me what you gona do to me!? Ill slaughter you, throw you off my ship, suffocate you in the most painfully of way.

Drew: Oh really I would like to see you try!

Narrator: Charles pushes Drew to the floor and then continuously punches Drew. Drew gets Charles off of him. As Charles rushes back towards Drew, but Drew pulls out a knife and stabs Charles in the stomach and quickly pulls it out.

Narrator: Drew wondering were to place the fresh corps of Charles panicked of the sound of on of the crew members footsteps around the corner. Drew threw Charless body over the side of the ship.

John: What did you just throw over the side of side of the ship?

Drew: (Sounding suspicious) Nothing.

Eric: Whats going on?

John: Drew threw something over the side of the ship.

Drew: (Walking away very fast) I threw nothing over the side of the ship.

John: Is that Captain Charles?

Eric: I think that is.

Narrator: John and Eric chased after Drew. In a matter of seconds they caught Drew.

John: (saying it angrily) Give me a good reason why we shouldnt kill you!?

Drew: Because Charles tried to kill me!

Eric: (Stabbing Drew in the stomach) Oh well, that was not a good enough excuse.

Narrator: Drews body lying motionless on the deck. John and Eric threw his body over board Leaving only droplets of blood on the deck.
