Synopsis: Summer of the Mariposas, Chapter 11

Name: Date:

 Teresita’s husband draws them a map to Abuelita’s, and they begin their journey.
 The girls encounter a donkey and cart.
 Pita says that she can understand the donkey and he is talking to her.
 Odilia does not trust the donkey and thinks of Teresita’s warning about the nagual, but the
other sisters trust him.
 They get on the donkey for a break in walking.
 The donkey takes them to a cave, and they are fearful—they realize the donkey is the
sinister nagual.
 The nagual changes into his true form, and the sisters pass out outside of the cave under his
spell.
