Brenda Edwards begins her 10th season as ticket manager for East Carolina. Edwards, 35, manages the distribution and sale of athletic tickets for all Pirate sports. A native of Pitt County, NC, she is married-husband's name is Tim-and they have two daughters, Michelle and Brandy.

In pro-mad from Wake Forest in 1951 and his M. D. from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest in 1954. He is married to the former Joyce Price, and they have three daughters. Jacalyn Leinhass, Rebecca Taylor. and Mary Joyce.

Gentry
OF STRENGTH TRAINING

DIRECTOR

Mike Gentry begins his second year at East Carolina as director of the strength and conditioning program. Gentry oversees the strength training of all ECU athletes, using the University's modern weight training equipment and facilities. The 26-year-old Durham, NC, native joined the Pirate staff after serving as strength coach at the University of North Carolina from 1980 to 1982. Gentry is a graduate of Western Carolina University with a B.S. in physical education and he received his M.A.T. in physical education at North Carolina.

Greg Beres
SPORTS MEDICINE TRAINER Greg Beres is beginning his first season as a member of East Carolina's sports medicine department. Beres will assist ECU's director of sports medicine in the overall health maintenance of all Pirate athletes. He is a certified trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association. In addition to his duties in the Sports Medicine Center, he will be teaching first aid in the health and physical education department on campus, as well as. working as a clinical instructor and team-teaching introductory courses in the ECU sports medicine curriculum. The Detroit MI. native received a B.S. in education from Grand Valley State College and his M.S. in physical education from Ohio University in 1983. He is married to the former Wendy Scalcucci.

Bob Roller
ASSISTANT SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR Bob Roller begins his first season as East Carolina's assistant sports information director. He is a 1983 graduate of Virginia Tech with a BA in communications. Roller, 22, is responsible for publicity and information for all-non-revenue sports, management of the student assistant staff, editing the football game programs and assisting in publicity for the revenue producing sports. The Pearisburg, VA. native is married to the former Julie Thornton, and they have no children.

Rod Compton
DIRECTOR OF SPORTS MEDICINE Rod Compton heads one of the finest sports medicine operations in collegiate athletics with excellent facilities and a qualified staff. Compton, now in his 14th season with the Pirates, is in charge of all health maintenance for ECU student-athletes. He heads a list of more than a dozen fine community based professionals who lend valuable time to the program. Among Compton's accomplishments have been to serve as editor of the National Athletic Trainers Association Journal from 1973-1979; aid in developing East Carolina's sports medicine curriculum, which was added to the University's health and physical education department; and being named assistant professor in health, physical education and recreation. The 36-year-old Newark, OH, native is single. He received his undergraduate degree in education from Ohio University in 1969 and his master's degree in education from Bowling Green State University in 1970.

Rochel Rittgers
SPORTS MEDICINE TRAINER Rochel Rittgers begins her first season as a member ofthe East Carolina Sports Medicine Department. Rittgers, 24, will assist in the overall health maintenance of all Pirate athletes, with special emphasis on women's sports. She is a certified trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association. In addition to her duties in the sports medicine center, she will teach first aid in the ECU Health and Physical Education Department as well as, worki ng as a clinical instructor and team-teaching introductory courses in the University's sports medicine curriculum. The Des Moines, IA. native earned her B.A. in physical education from Northern Iowa in 1982 and a Master's degree in physical education in 1983 from Eastern Kentucky.
