Presidents Report from Natalie Jupe
Gday everyone, Firstly a huge thank you to the 24 people who attended our Polio Day Dinner at Punjabi Hut last week. Final figures to be confirmed, but it looks like we raised about $200 for Polio Plus. The food was fantastic, and it was great to see members from so many other clubs. A big thanks goes out to those who helped organize the night. Thank you one and all!!! District conference on the weekend was great, and it was perfect weather for a weekend down the bay. Tthe highlights were the back to the beach dinner, Mogo Zoo for Breakfast and Guest Speaker Ahn Do. Everyone I have spoken to seemd to enjoy it, and now we are looking forward to next years District Conference at Merimbula (October 11 to 13, 2013). Photos of both the Polio Dinner and District Conferene will be on our Facebook page soon. A big thank you to Doug for looking after our info stall on Sunday by all accounts the markets were rather quiet but it was still great that we could be involved. There is only about 8 weeks to Christmas, and just under 6 weeks to our Christmas Party keep your eyes out for the invite very soon. RSVP will be to Joan. We hope to see you there and dont forget to bring along a small present for the Secret Santa. Relay for Life is keeping some of our members very busy. We will be needing volunteers for this Saturday morning (3/11/2012) see next page for details, and let Natalie know if you can help. We will also be needing assistance distributing letters to local businesses requesting them to make donations to the Relay for Life Natalie to explain more at this weeks meeting. Council calls for nominations for The Q Board and Heritage Advisory Committee
25 October 2012

Queanbeyan City Council is seeking nominations for community representatives to serve two-year terms on The Q Board and Heritage Advisory Committee. Council requires four representatives with relevant theatre and financial experience to sit on The Q Board for a term of two years. Members of the Board will not be involved with any group or organisation that hires the Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre. Membership of the Board is voluntary and members do not receive remuneration. The Board will meet on a quarterly basis. The Board provides opportunity for four people to be appointed or re-appointed with relevant theatre and financial experience to help take the Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre forward, Cr Overall said. Since its opening in 2008 the Centre has grown into one of the states best performing arts centres with more than 30,000 patrons attending the Centre annually. The Board provides an additional level of operational oversight and will also ensure the Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre continues to grow into the future. Council is also seeking one community representative to serve a two-year term on the Heritage Advisory Committee which meets monthly or when specific needs arises. The function of the Committee is to monitor heritage policy, advise Council on heritage issues, raise community awareness of heritage issues and comment on specific development applications. Special skills that would be beneficial are an interest in heritage and a knowledge of the role of heritage as part of local government planning processes. A selection criteria has been developed for persons interested in joining The Q Board and this can be found at www.qcc.nsw.gov.au or 257 Crawford St along with a nomination form. Persons wishing to nominate for the Heritage Advisory Committee should provide a brief overview of their skills and experience which would be relevant to the committee. For more information regarding The Q Board contact Councils Group Manager Community Living Jenny Grinlinton on 6285 6265 and in regards to the Heritage Advisory Committee contact Councils Strategic Development section on 6285 6276. Nominations must be submitted by 4pm on Friday 9 November 2012 via email to the General Manager via email to council@qcc.nsw.gov.au, mail to PO Box 90 Queanbeyan NSW or in person to 257 Crawford St.

Please keep collecting the used postage stamps and foreign coins. Collecting these helps us with our fundraising. If you have any questions about the stamps, you can email Klaus on klascha@gmail.com
