Hazard

Solutions

Risk Factor 0-5 Least-Most

Why we gave it this Risk Factor Rating

Clearing out the garage for filming. Heavy objects will have to be removed from the garage to make space for us to film our two minute opening sequence in the garage.

Make sure when lifting heavy objects people lift from their legs not their backs. Make sure the object they are removing is securely in their hand.

This hazard could cause a lot of harm to the person affected health and it could be a prolonged injury such as a back problem.

Filming in small space, meaning the area can get crowded easier and we must be aware not to fall in or knock over anything for we are surrounded by tools and dangerous items.

When moving around crew should be aware of what is surrounding them. Also crew should not be messing around when moving so the risk of falling or tripping is reduced. Making sure the props are on stable surfaces so they dont fall off and injure someone. To handle the props in a safe manner when moving them around. Then once placing them making sure no dangerous ends are on show that can cause harm. Make sure that the equipment is carried responsibly and in their right cases.

It involves tools that can pierce a persons skin causing fatal damage but it cant cause death not making it a 5. 4

Placing of props within the garage is a hazard because most of our props are dangerous tools which can injure someone if dropped or not handled properly.

If common sense is applied this isnt really a dangerous hazard. However if when placing the tools down we arent paying much attention it could lead to a very serious incident but that is not likely. Thats why we chose 3. If the Tri-pod is not carried properly and is being swung around carelessly someone could get hit across the head. It wont be an extremely serious injury but it could still cause some harm. Thats why its a 2.

Transporting filming equipment to and from the filming location.

The use of Tools within the film (saws, hammers, pick axes etc.).

Make sure the tools are in a safe distance away from actors. When tools are being used make sure precautions such as a set movement (how the tool is to be used) is used. Have someone guiding the camera person so they do not trip over obstacles such as the pavement curb.

These tools are dangerous when they arent handled properly. Could cause serious harm.

Camera person could take a bad fall and break their nose. 2

Shooting a tracking shot outside with obstacles.

The use of Saw Dust. Saw Dust can cause blindness if it enters someones eyes.

Keep the movement of air to the minimum so no flapping of paper around the sawdust covered areas. 5

This could cause a person to lose their sight. It is defiantly very hazardous.

Actor lying on a table surrounded by tools.

The tools are a safe distant away and have been positioned so they are stable and not able to fall on actor.

If any tools are not placed stably they can fall on actor causing a serious injury but not death because the tools surrounding the actor are not very risky. This can be easily resolved by the crew and actors wearing warmer layers of clothing. Therefore its only a 1.

Low temperature within the garage.

Crew to wear layers of clothing to keep them warm to reduce risk of contacting a virus i.e. a cold.
