    ACRES HOMES VOLUNTEERS PREPARE FOR THEIR FIRST MONTHLY NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN-UP EVENT HOUSTON, March 2, 2012 Residents in District B are eagerly anticipating their first neighborhood clean-up event this Saturday, March 3rd in Acres Homes. Community schools, churches, civic clubs, and City Council staff are looking forward to a large turnout. District B Council Member, Jerry Davis, thinks that the efforts of his fellow neighbors are already having a positive effect. People are excited. Theyre hearing about an opportunity to help out in their own neighborhood. We hope to help citizens express their desires to make a difference where they live. With help from the Department of Neighborhoods, Solid Waste, and Keep Houston Beautiful, Council Member Jerry Davis hopes to regularly put together well-planned and coordinated clean-up days focusing on different areas within District B. This months event will be held on March 3rd at 8 a.m. Volunteers will meet at Mount Ararat Baptist Church located at 5801 West Montgomery Road. Saturdays clean-up will focus on collecting road-side litter, light weeding, and clearing lots. Breakfast and drinks will be provided for our volunteers. We encourage local media outlets to attend.
