PURPOSE OF JOB Manage business development operations and marketing of products, programmes and projects implemented by the Exams Department of British Council in Pakistan Supervise the collective performance of the business development and marketing teams dedicated to managing the strategy to create new business and sustain current accounts CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT Examination Services Department The British Councils Exams Department has set in place an ambitious plan to ensure its growth and greater impact in a fast changing, global environment. To do this, the department will be engaging and working more directly with partners, both internal and external from all sectors. The Exams Department has grown into a significantly large revenue business. It is now one of the largest operations within the British Council global network. Due to the scale of the operations, the organization requires a team to manage its business development and marketing function. Team Structure This team will be headed by the Director of Business Development. The position has two direct reports i.e. Head of Exams Business Development and Head Exams Marketing Services. The related team will comprise of three managers each for Business Development and Marketing based out of Lahore/Islamabad/Karachi The position will be responsible for business development and marketing activities of Exams department operating in three large offices in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and two small offices in Multan and Faisalabad ACCOUNTABILITIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN DUTIES Responsible for developing new revenue streams from new products and services, while optimizing income from existing lines through innovative marketing and rapid exploitation of customer needs Responsible for revenue generation by nurturing prospects into customers, developing a portfolio of clients into key accounts, and leading the sales strategy for specific regions within Pakistan. Responsible for monitoring the business development and marketing teams performance in identifying customers and gathering related market intelligence Overseeing the marketing, advertising and promotional activities of the Exams department, by working closely with the Manager Marketing Services Responsible for meeting and, where possible, exceeding volume and revenue targets Initiate and manage business development activities that will strengthen, expand and drive market penetration Support the management team in negotiating difficult or critical business matters through interaction with senior and executive level managers both internally and externally. Develop his/her specialization of the regional markets and develop sales team capabilities. Develop multiple contacts within each client (influencers, decision-makers and stakeholders) Engage in successful relationship building within the organizational matrix and externally KEY RELATIONSHIPS The post holder will need to develop successful relationships with Director of Planning and Performance, and Director of Operations Regional colleagues within Pakistan and the UK New/existing customers and partners including, but not limited to, schools, universities, and ministries

OTHER IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB The post holder is required to travel frequently, primarily within Pakistan. Passport/visa and/or nationality requirement. Right to work in Pakistan Security or legal checks required for this role.
