Kindergarten Registration
There will be a Kindergarten Registration Session on Tuesday, January 29th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Please stop in to the school during these times to complete the registration forms for your soon-to-be Kindergarten student (born in 2008 or 2009). You are also invited to pop in to the Ontario Early Years playgroup room as well as the Kindergarten room on this day. There will be a Welcome to Kindergarten Open House in April where the parent(s) and student will visit different activity centres, listen to a story, and even take a ride on a school bus. More information about this event will be provided closer to April.

Mmmmm Spaghetti
Mark your calendar for dinner out with the family. Maple Grove Parent Council is planning a Spaghetti Dinner and Art Appreciation night at the Lanark Civitan on Friday, February 15th. There will also be works of art created by our students on display at the dinner.

Family Literacy Day

Family Literacy Day is a national awareness initiative created by ABC Life Literacy Canada in 1999 and held annually on January 27th to raise awareness of the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. More than 1.5 million Canadians have already participated in the initiative since its debut. Taking time every day to read or do a learning activity with children is crucial to a childs development. Even just 15 minutes a day can improve a childs literacy skills dramatically, and can help a parent improve their skills as well. The theme for Literacy Day this year is 15-Minutes of Fun.
