THANA CULTURE Thana___ probably one of the most terrific place for either class of our society; elite,

middle, poor, villainous or noble, at least in our country. It owes a very bad image due to multiplicity of factors like disfigurement of law by law enforcers, harassment to the citizenry, abusive attitude towards people, corruption engulfed premise and baser moral of police staff. Although there are noble and law abiding officers, rank and file present in this particular cultural setup, yet they are found in rare examples. Given the present situation, a larger part of our society avoids to access thanas for sorting out of their genuine complaints and arguments. They take fear to go to a police station coupled with the idea of no chance of getting any acceptable solution of their matter. The prevailing thana culture needs to be redressed in view of the problems it contains in form of the soaring wound of the society. Some the helpful corrective measures may be the redefining of the police attitude towards common people, symbolic expression of friendly environment, certainty of corruption free working spirit and the strict obedience of rules and regulations. Illegal detention, harassment and misbehavior should be discouraged. For all this, a comprehensive change is required in the professional life of police officials as the prerequisite of positive transformation from darker image to the brighter future.

There should be show of courageous attitude towards challenging situations. These are the viable tools to make your life happier and ward off any tragic happening.
