This abstract is being submitted for oral presentation for 60 minutes. A workshop can
also be added to this presentation for 90 minutes, with hands-on experience for attending
naturopathic physicians.

Presentation title: Cryosurgery for Benign Skin Lesions

This presentation will review the background of cryosurgery as it pertains to the


treatment of benign skin lesions. The presentation will review the recognition of
malignant skin lesions versus benign skin lesions, and the respective treatment
parameters.
The use of the newly developed Cryoprobe which utilizes nitrous oxide gas to perform
cryo surgical procedures in a safe and non-toxic method for the naturopathic physician.

Learning objectives for this presentation would be to elucidate the use of various cryo
therapy modalities in the treatment of various benign skin lesions of the epidermis.
Emphasis will be placed upon diagnostic recognition of suspected cancers lesions versus
benign lesions.

Presentation outline:

A PowerPoint discussion of the history of cryotherapy, the different pharmacological


agents that are used in the performance of cryotherapy and the physics behind the action
of various cryosurgical modalities on the human tissue.

Target audience will be medical practitioners, medical students, and especially


naturopathic physicians.

Biographical sketch:
Dr. Hahn completed his undergraduate studies at Sacramento state University in
California. He attended the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco
where he received his doctor of podiatric medicine degree. Dr. Hahn completed his
surgical residency at the California Podiatry Hospital, in San Francisco, California.

Dr. Hahn received his degree as a doctor of naturopathic medicine from the national
college of naturopathic medicine, in Portland, Oregon. He is Board-Certified in Foot
Surgery, by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He has received advanced
certification in injection and radiowave sclerotherapy, and venous endovascular
sclerotherapy. Dr. Hahn is a member of the American college of Phlebology. He is an
active staff member of the Gresham Station Surgical Center, in Gresham Oregon and
Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital, in Portland, Oregon. He is currently in private practice
in Portland, Oregon with an emphasis in aesthetic medicine.
