CogAT Testing
The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) will be administered to all 2nd & 4th graders November 7-9. CogAT is a norm-referenced test that measures important verbal, non-verbal and quantitative reasoning skills such as the ability to comprehend problem situations, detect similarities and differences, make inferences and deductions, classify and categorize objects, events and other stimuli, create and adapt problem-solving strategies and use familiar concepts and skills in new contexts.

OPERATION ANGEL
Our holiday service project, Operation Angel, begins December 4th. In lieu of a holiday gift for a teacher or staff member, students are encouraged to make a contribution to GoodWorks, a Chapin-based home repair and improvement organization. For a minimum of $1 each, students will be given two angelsone to hang on our school tree and the other to present to the teacher/staff member being honored.

On Feb. 19th, every student will participate in Jump Rope For Heart to demonstrate their commitment to living heart healthy while supporting their community. Last year LMES raised over $20,000 for the American Heart Association. We need volunteers to make this event possible. You can volunteer to help with your childs grade event or longer.
