Habitat Annual General Meeting
Annual General Meeting: Thursday June 7, 2007

Everyone is invited to attend the Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver Annual General Meeting on Thursday June 7, 2007 at the New Life Community Church, 8765 Government Street, Burnaby, BC. Members will be eligible to vote for the Habitat Board of Directors and a Special Resolution. A light dinner will be served before the meeting. RSVP no later than June 5, 2007. Note: to vote at the AGM you must be a current member of Habitat for Humanity Society of Greater Vancouver by May 7, 2007. (Membership is valid for one year and should be renewed annually: To renew/update your membership see page 4).

Volunteers!

In recognition of youth power and the wish to increase youth involvement in Habitats mission in Canada, Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver will host its first ever Youth Build thanks to the generous support of James Richardson & Sons, Limited. University and high school students will converge at the Government Street build site in Burnaby the week of June 18th to the 23rd, 2007 to help build homes and hope with Habitats partner families. The objective of the Youth Build Program is to engage youth (anyone aged 1830) in the work of Habitat for Humanity and build future community leaders by providing youth the opportunity to participate in a unique program that allows them to give back to the community. Where: Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver's build site at 8745 Government Street in Burnaby. What: When: Why: Recognize the power of youth To mobilize youth on a national scale as well as motivate youth in Greater Vancouver to get involved with their local Habitat for Humanity affiliate. Bring youth together -- with the opportunity to learn construction skills, meet new friends, and work together to help build a community with people in need. Provide an opportunity to work on a build for those who may not have volunteered on a Habitat for Humanity build site before. How: Each build day will require a crew of 15 volunteers (each build day to be scheduled on a first come first served basis); to register your school or student group call the Habitat office at 604 681 5618 or email to volunteer@vancouverhabitat.bc.ca. Volunteer registration and safety orientations will be conducted on site the morning of your build day.

Do you have the knowledge to be a mentor? We currently partner with various organizations that send volunteers to our ReStores for work experience - but they need your help. The Habitat ReStores are looking for volunteers who have the ability to help others learn new skills. If you have experience in putting together cabinets (from kits), working a cash register, or customer service contact Carla at 604-681-5618 x21 for more information.
The 4th Annual Universal Gospel Choir concert raised a record $4,027 for HFH Greater Vancouver. Thanks to the choir and the Mountaintop Unity Church volunteers who helped make the evening such a success.
