New Mexico State University Black Programs

Soul To Soul
This academic year has been wonderful. According to Abraham Lincoln Its surprising how much you can accomplish if you don't care who gets the credit. Some of our student leaders are graduating this year and so its been quite challenging to find others to fill the shoes of those graduating. These student leaders have diligently worked for Black Programs in putting events together. Ultimately, these events have been successful and the university campus had a taste of these diversity events. For the younger and/or upcoming leaders who wish to step into the mantel of progressiveness, my advice is Human beings are believing animals, who supply meanings in their lives. Therefore if beliefs can tell how we can conduct ourselves in the universe, then we have tapped into a source. This source, which is self-power, can make us whole and progressive. In my opinion, sharing credit is all about self esteem. Lets get going like a bolt of lightening. Forward ever backward never.

Inspirational Words From Your Peers Athlete- Deann Williams / Sigma Kenny Bloomfield
Personally, I like NMSU. With this being my third year here, I have not onl y prof essi onal l y networked with some great people, but I have made personal relationships that I know will carry on long after I graduate here. The classroom sizes fit my style of learning and the teachers are willing to work with my schedule. Hey, I cant complain -Deann Williams, Double Major Sociology and Geography, Womens Track and Field . What I like the most about NMSU is its sense of community. It may not be a large university, but its size allows you to create great friendships with your peers and instructors; which I dont think would be as easy to obtain at a larger university. I will say, that I cant wait to graduate in May though. - Kenny Broomfield, Graphic Design Major, member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

Throughout my years at NMSU, Black Programs is one program I have stuck too. The reason being is the several benefits and ways of assistance that are provided. Black Programs is a unique place that is open to all students. They provide services that include book scholarships, mentoring and tutoring, computer labs, and academic guidance. One aspect I truly appreciate is the support network they have. They constantly check on you to make sure you are doing well in your professional and personal life. It is a way to show that there is someone there who is looking out for your best interesting. In addition, Black Programs would always put on cultural programs for me to stay connected to culture. These programs would be open to all, so it was always nice seeing and diverse group of people. The program provides I great way to network and get to know those around you.

I am Divine. Gently graceful, yet elusively powerful. The blood of kings and queens flows through my veins. My ancestors ruled under royal blue skies and bright white stars. In the company of my sisters, I serve others selflessly. We are sorors, scholars and finer women. The spirit of our precious pearls guides me, their light shines within me ever so brightly. I am the living dream of my founders. A lady of true style and grace, you will find none greater. Make way for this Royal woman of Zeta Phi Beta.
