Life can be overwhelming. We get busy, hurried, worried and consumed with the urgent and immediate happenings all around us. Kids needs, schooling, problems at work, the economy, health concerns, or any number of uncontrollable circumstances are daily assaulting us and shouting for our attention. But as a follower of Christ, I am not to focus on the daily, changing circumstances all around me. I am to fix my eyes on Jesus. I love that old hymn, Turn your eyes upon Jesus; look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace. God showed this to me in a powerful way a few weeks ago during a prayer time for our missionaries at CI House of Prayer. They send in their requests from all over the world and we worship our great God and lift up their needs to His listening ear. But some of them are heavy, heart-breaking, frustrating or seemingly impossible. It can sometimes be easy to get focused on the need or situation instead of God Himself. This day the songs were mostly focused on God, on His throne, His power, and His worthiness of all worship! As we began to pray, the Holy Spirit helped me to see that as we kneel at His feet in worship, we are able to see clearly the people and circumstances in our lives. We first sit, kneel, humble ourselves at His glorious feet, abiding in the shadow of the Almighty, and then we can really see! It is in the posture of worship and recognition of Gods goodness, power, and glory (and so much more!!) that all the other things pulling on my attention, feeling so heavy and difficult, come into the right perspective. God, who is never-changing, becomes magnified and the circumstances, that come and go, become the periphery. And life becomes more about Him and His ability and less about me and mine.

Nursing School, Ballet, etc

I dont know how many of you know this, but David has been on the track to start nursing school in the fall. He has done most of the non-core nursing classes, taken the entrance exam, on which he scored th in the 98 percentile(!!), and turned in all of his paperwork. Now we are just waiting for the final word which we should receive in early April. We are proud of his hard work so far and know that he will do a great job in school and as a nurse. We know this will be a bit of a difficult season ahead as he will still be working full-time and we will still be involved in the House of Prayer as much as possible. However, we feel confident that this is Gods leading and, therefore, know that He has abundant grace for each of us! We do thank those who pray for us! I continue to homeschool the children, take part in several worship/prayer times at the HOP and teach in the jail. I am glad to be part of this ministry and really feel God teaching me and using me for His glory! I sense His anointing to tell the good news each month that I teach! Rachel has quit ballet for now and is in search of a different way to invest her time. Aspiring to be an author, she is spending a lot of time writing. Abby is still dancing and just started a Spanish class, hoping to travel to a Spanish speaking country with CornerStone for th her 13 birthday. Keenan is growing in His love for God and His Word. He enjoys building legos, especially with friends. Micah loves his 2 day/week school and is learning to read. Silas loves to learn and is always asking for school work. All 4 boys love dart guns. I am forever picking up stray bullets! Finally, Nathanael is an adorable two year old!

Major Changes!
As I was busily preparing breakfast a few weeks ago, one brother runs into the kitchen in distress because Nathanael, who just turned 2, had the blood sugar thing out and was about to use it. Since it has sharp pieces, I hurried into the dining room where Nathanael had already climbed into his high chair to eat. I found him with the glucometer in his hand and a testing strip out of the bottle and inserted properly, tapping his baby dolls finger, saying blood on it in his sweet voice. I smiled as I realized that he was sharing his new experiences with his baby, much like he would lay his babies down and cover them up for night night. This is our new normal. Just days after nd Nathanaels 2 birthday, after a scary week or so of being incredibly lethargic, almost lifeless, he was hospitalized and diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. We are now learning how to mimic a human pancreas, monitoring his blood sugar, measuring his food, and giving proper amounts of insulin. It is hard work being a pancreas. God designed the human body in such an incredible way. We often dont even know its wonders until something goes awry. He is happy and healthy now, but blood and shots have become part of his everyday routine. This hasnt been an easy adjustment, but God has lavished His grace upon us, as He does for each challenge or responsibility. You can read the full story about his sickness, hospitalization and Gods faithfulness on the blog. Janice Joy Griffiths, Davids grandma, went to be with Jesus on Jan. 27, 2013. To the left is a letter David wrote the day she died.

Grandma, You made it! You finished your race, youre finally home! I only wish I could have been there to witness your homecoming. I'm sure words would fail to convey the wonder and joy of it. The face that you've longed to see for so many years is NO LONGER VEILED! What joy is yours now, faithful servant, as you join with the throng, casting your crown and worshiping Him. Your faith has been rewarded and it was well worth it. No more pain. No more death. Forevermore you have been healed! Thank you for blazing the trail of faith for our family. By His grace I am following after you as I follow Him. And one day He will call me home as well. Until that day may I, too, be faithful. love, David
