1 FREE MEASURE WINDOW

Communication monitor, p. 11

Free Measure window commands: Measure to start a measurement (after the instrument enters the measurement the measurement results. Print to print status the key is renamed S tandby and switches the instrument to standby status) Leak check to run the Leak Check test of the pneumatic circuit HC Residuals to run the HC residuals test
Service to perform a service calibration (this operation is reserved to service men) Before each measurement the instrument must perform a zeroing routine, a countdown is shown in the Message display. When the zeroing routine is over, the measures are displayed and the Print key is enabled. 3

To exit the measurement press the Standby key.

2 PRINTOUT DATA WINDOW

2.1 WITHOUT SOFTWARE INTERACTION

1. Fill in all the fields with the data that you want GasPC to print. All data will be available for printout whenever requested. 2. Check the Print box to get the printout. Press Cancel to exit operation. 3. Press Clear all to clear all fields before entering different data.

2.2 WITH SOFTWARE INTERACTION

If GasPC is installed together with the Genie system, by enabling the Software Interaction option in the Genie setup, vehicle and owners data actually selected in the garage database V-Manager will be available in GasPC too. In this case, editing the data from within the GasPC will be disabled. To edit data go back in the V-Manager window.

3 RG 240 TEST This test is conceived according to the RG 240 rule, which requires a 4 minutes long test drive. After the zeroing routine, insert the gas sampling probe in the vehicle exhaust pipe, then seat in the in the vehicle driver's seat and press Start. In the Speed field is displayed the required speed you must maintain to accomplish the test rule. When the test is over click the Results button to input the following data: the weight of the fuel used to perform the test and the miles covered. These data allows the program to calculate and show the gpm (grams per mile) amount of each gas produced by the vehicle during the test. After the gpm values are shown you can print the test result pressing the Print button and/or start a new test pressing the Restart button. You can leave the test at any time clicking the RG240 icon in the toolbar.

4 GARAGE HEADING

1. Fill in all the fields with the data that you want GasPC to print. All data will be available for printout whenever requested. 2. Check the Print box to get the printout. 3. Press Clear all to clear all fields before entering different data.

Press Cancel to exit operation.

5 RPM ADJUST

This window allows a real-time set-up of the RPM probe reading. Whichever the probe used may be, the structure of the engine and the quality of the electric shields applied to sparking plugs, distributors, ignition coils and wires may require to set a corrective coefficient. For, anyway, the displayed value, before the setting, is a multiple of the correct RPM rate, the corrective coefficient is an integer divisor. Connect your RPM probe to the vehicle and turn the engine on. Open the RPM s et-up window and check that the RPM number, showed in the Correct RPM reading fields, is right. If not, adjus t the RPM divisor to 9 have a correct reading.

6 PROGRAM SETUP

The window is divided in four sections:

6.1 SENSORS AND PROBES

Select here the sensors that are installed in your analyzer by check ing or un-checking the proper box.

6.1.1 RPM setup

Select here the RPM probe type used together with the program. They can be of three different kind:
10

1. Internal to the analyser (RPM Benzina, RPM Benzina NET, RPM 8500), in this case RPM probe is connected directly to the analyser and readings are acquired via the analyzer serial port. 2. External-Manual, no RPM readings will be displayed in the program window. 3. External-Serial, the RPM probe is connected to another system port and RPM readings are acquired via this s erial connection (which can also be a Bluetooth service). In this case, select also the system port used. The baud rate and the device address are already set by default as 9600 and 1. These two settings may be changed only by adv ice of a service engineer.

6.1.2 Oil temperature setup

As for the RPM, there are three possible selections:

1. Internal to the analyzer, in this case RPM probe is connected direc tly to the analyzer and readings are acquired via the analyzer serial port. Just select C or F. 2. External-Manual, no Oil temperature readings will be displayed in the program window. 3. External-Serial, the Oil temperature probe is connected to the external s erial RPM device (see previous paragraph) and readings are acquired via the same s erial connection of the RPM. 6.2 MEASUREMENT VISIBILITY AND POSITION

Select here how many measurement displays you want to appear in the Measurement window (chec k two box for two measurement display, three for three measurement display and so on) and for each display the quantity 6.3 FUEL that you want to be shown in. Only the quantities measurable with the configuration Choose one selected in the of the following fuels: gasoline, LPG or methane. Sensors and probes section are available.
7 ANALY SER SERIAL PORT SETUP

Select the system serial port (also a Bluetooth serial port) which is connected to the analyser and set the correct baud rate.

8 SAVE MEASUREMENTS TO FILE

This utility allows to save measurement values, taken for a certain time and at a certain rate, to a datasheet (like Ms Exc el) compatible file. Before pressing the "Start" button, choose the "Sampling period" among 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10, 30, 60 seconds and 5, 10, 30 minutes. After pressing the "Start" button and choos ing the file name, the data saving operation will start. The elapsed 9 HC RESIDUALS TEST time will be shown in the corresponding box. The "Meas ure" and "Stand by" buttons have the same function as in the main meas urement window. Use the "Stop" button to end the saving operation and close the file.

This test look s for HC residuals in the gas bench and in the filtering system. First of all, be sure to remove the gas sampling probe from the vehicle tail pipe. GasPC will perform a zeroing routine and, if required, a warming up one. After the zeroing phase, the HC concentration (ppm vol) value is displayed. If this value remains under 10 ppm vol for 3 seconds the test will end with a positive res ult and GasPC will close the test window. If the test fails you can wait for a while for the HC c oncentration to lower or press the Skip button to exit. After a test failure, further measurements are not advisable, recheck the gas probe and perform the test once again. You can exit from this window at any time pressing the Skip button.

10 LEAK CHECK TEST

11 COMMUNICATION MONITOR

Icon meaning:

The RPM icon is shown only if External-Serial has been set in the setup window (p. 10).
Analyser Status Connected Not connected RPM serial Status Not used Connected Not connected

The communication (seriel or Bluetooth) monitor is in the lower left side of the program frame.

When a device is not connected, the program tries to comunicate every 30 secs. Reconnection is totally automatic. Double-click on the device icon to speed up reconnection. This test performs the communication the before starting a measuring It is advisable to check a leak check of status gas procedure. probe. sampling
To perform the test close the end of the exhaust sampling probe with its cap and k eep it clos e until the end of the test. GasPC will automatically switch on the gas pump and pump out air from the gas circuit. The program will show the depression value inside the pneumatic circuit of the analyzer in mbar. When a definite rate of vacuum is reached, the pump will be s witched off, checking for internal pres sure variations. If no leaks are detected, a positive result message will be displayed and GasPC will allow to close the test window. After a test failure, further measurements are not advisable, recheck the gas probe and perform the test once again. You can exit from this window at any time pressing the Skip button.
