1. What was your first reaction when reading the title of the story?

~My reaction to the title of the story was sadness. Because death isnt a pleasant word. The title looked scary yet depressing. I thought it was like someone was so depressed it was like they were alive but yet dead inside. 2. After reading the story, what does the author really mean when
she writes that she died in the sixth grade? Did she really die? ~What she means when saying she died in the sixth-grade was meaning to bullying and being alone and depression. That the sixth-grade was so hard on her she felt dead but living inside. No , she did not really die but it was hard for her the depression the bullying.

3. How does the author describe herself before she died? ~She described herself by saying she was outgoing, compassionate, smart, and sometimes overbearing. And she was part of the crew. 4. In the second paragraph the author says she flat-lined. What does
she mean? Look up the word in an online dictionary and write the definition. ~Neurology A popular term for a complete lack of cerebral
activity as measured by EEG, a finding equated with 'brain death'.

5. How did The Crew influence others in school? Give specific


examples that you found throughout the story. ~Because they were the popular ones the interesting

ones who made everyone else look . . .simple and plain. Because she said they were the trendsetters if they wore sleeveless shirts Wednesday they would be sold out Thursday. 6. The author mentions that the girls at the sleep over were 11 going

on 17 then she states that she was content to be a kid for a while longer. How is it possible to be 11 going on 17? Describe some of the things the girls wanted to do that wasnt age appropriate. ~Because your growing up to fast and doing things

where your 11 but your doing certain things that a 17 year old would be doing. Ready to pump Ace of Base
(different. time.) and dish about boys.

7. What were 3 specific negative effects the bullying had on the


author? ~She became a persona-nongrata to the entire sixth-

grade. Her parents had to pull her out of her school. Her personality changed the person she was died in the sixth-grade. 8. When did things finally turn around for her? What exactly
happened? How did she feel? ~When her parents put her in advanced placement.

She met three girls who carried her through the next two years. She and her personality still died in the sixth-grade but she carried on and saw lifes problems.
