Be Seen.Be Safe!
Your life depends on it! Safe walking, running or cycling means taking extra care so that vehicle drivers can see you long before they catch up to you. Wear high-visibility clothing which has strong reflective
properties or a colour that is easily seen against any background. If your favourite running clothes don't already have reflective features, you can apply your own reflective tape, and make yourself significantly more visible. A single patch or stripe is NOT ENOUGH. Your clothing should show enough reflective striping along your body lines to ensure you are seen and recognized as a human. Even in daylight, bright reflective clothing makes a person much more noticeable.

Your pet, too, should be protected when it accompanies you on the road. Reflective clothing, collars and leashes can be purchased or inexpensively created by applying reflective tape.

A Few More Safety Tips

.. Always carry identification and your cell phone with an In Case of Emergency (I.C.E. ) number listed. Always be aware of your surroundings. Limit your distractions. Its best to leave the listening devices at home, but If you feel you must use one, keep the volume low enough so youre still able to easily hear whats going on around you. Dont run or walk alone at night. No matter how comfortable you feel being out at night, theres always more safety in numbers. On roads without sidewalks, always stay close to the shoulder on the left side of the road, facing the on-coming traffic.
