++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Silk Stocking Murder.............................................[LA 2.

10] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Another case down, more of Cole's back-history reveiled. I rather liked this one. After that, you'll meet the captain at a diner, eating with Rusty. He'll tell the two of you that you have a new case: a hispanic women was found dead and naked in an alleyway. Here's what we've got to go on as of now: -------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Murder Victim -------------------------------------=============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Downtown Crime Scene =============================================== Well, let's get to investigating then, eh? Once you're on the scene an officer will take you to the body. You'll also get a new person of interest: ---------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Murder Suspect? ---------------------------------------Go ahead and check out the body. Malcolm will be nearby to provide commentary and point out the similar MO of previous cases: the victim is naked, writing on the body from 'BD' with lipstick, small man's shoes. This is the most gruesome body yet though. Check out the body to see the cuts, strangling marks, and ring-finger mutilation. The body also says 'Kiss the Blood. B.D.'. There's also half of a library card in her hand... someone is deliberately leaving evidence behind... Check behind the body to find a bloodied stocking as well. There's also a pretty obvious trail of blood leading up to the body you can check: ---------------------NEW CLUE!: Blood Trail ------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Bloodied Stocking ---------------------------Follow the blood trail to find a hat by the door. It, too, says the name 'Antonia', like the library card does. This adds a new clue, but we still don't really know who the victim is yet.

--------------------NEW CLUE!: Ladies Hat --------------------The blood trail keeps on going though (get used to it) as it leads further on to a garbage can, where you will find a shoe (adding a clue). --------------------------NEW CLUE!: Personal Effects --------------------------Keep following the blood trail. It'll lead to a pipe with a key dangling from it. By now you've realized this sick S.O.B. is leading us on, giving us clue by clue. -------------NEW CLUE!: Key -------------Keep following the blood and you'll find a note that looks like some sort of code: --------------------------NEW CLUE!: Dot Pattern Note --------------------------You'll also get a clue past that showing you that the blood trail goes UP. Follow it up the fire escape nearby... you'll get to the roof where you'll find a ring hanging up (no doubt from her finger) and further on an empty envelope inside of a pigeon coop. Jump down to where Rusty is from there and find the next item: some sort of gold plated piece. Past that we need to go up the drainpipe where you'll find the paintbrush the killer was using as well as the victim's purse. And what do you know!? The OTHER half of the library card is in there: she is one Mrs. Antonia Maldonado. ----------------------NEW CLUE!: Library Card ----------------------============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Antonia's Residence ============================================== You'll hear the 'all clear' music as well. At least we have a name and can continue our search at her residence. Let's head there now. Once you get there, you'll see it is a boarding house. Go in and tell the

lady what has happened and you need to see Antonia's things; she'll tell you her room is upstairs and to the left. Head up there and you'll see that someone has turned the place over. ---------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Barbara Lapenti ---------------------------------------Check the window nearby and you'll see it's been smashed through. Cole will open it up and go through, giving you a chance to inspect the iron decoration that did the damage. -----------------------NEW CLUE!: Broken Window --------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Iron Picket ---------------------Head back inside after that and inspect the letter in the girl's suitcase. Hmpf, looks like she was getting ready to go to court. Go figure. It also lists her husbands residence too, lucky us. ---------------------------NEW CLUE!: Attorney's Letter ---------------------------============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Maldonado Residence ============================================== After that, go check near the sink and you'll find a photograph, presumably of the husband and wife. Cole will notice that there's a charm bracelet there that plain wasn't at the scene of the crime. -----------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Charm Bracelet Photograph -----------------------------------After that you'll get the 'all clear' music. Go back down and speak to the owner now, as we can ask her some questions. Go ahead and ask her about possible suspects. She'll say that Antonia was serving her husband, Angel, divorce papers. Then she'll put Rusty in his place! I like her. She's telling the TRUTH here. She'll give a little history about the couple too. Next ask her about the movements of Antonia. Barbara will say she left about 9 last night... but she'll look like she's lying. We have no proof, so select DOUBT. That'll get some response out of her (Cole has balls, btw), and it'll get us a new location too!

---------------------------NEW LOCATION!: El Dorado Bar ---------------------------======================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate El Dorado Bar ======================================== For a 'good girl', a bar probably isn't the best place to go. Rusty will also say that it's close to the crime scene. Next ask her about the break-in upstairs. She'll sound REALLY fake now, so press LIE and present the BROKEN WINDOW. Lying for a reputation... shame. Lastly ask about the breakdown of the marriage. That subject will turn to jewelry, as Barbara will say she only wore a wedding ring and a necklace. What about the charm bracelet? Call out the LIE and present the CHARM BRACELET PHOTO. She'll advise that Antonia NEVER wore that as her husband gave it to her and it resides in a wooden box. Interesting. ----------------------------NEW CLUE!: Religious Necklace ----------------------------From here we have two choices on where to go next: the husband's place or the bar. I'm picking the husband's place, so set that as your goal and head over there. Rusty will make fun of your 'nosy old hag' comment! Hehe... At the Maldonado residence check the mail boxes to see his name on Apt. 304. Head up to the third floor where a cutscene will take over, with Rusty "getting the drop" on Angel. Of course that leads into a fist fight, so face off against Angel's brother. He likes the old one-two punch so do a few blocks and some counters. After clocking him 4-5 times you can use circle to finish him. Rusty will actually handle Angel on his own, so you only need to fight the one guy. After that, Angel will seem shocked to hear his wife is dead. Rusty will call for someone to take them down to central, giving us a chance to comb over the place and talk to the neighbors (Angel said he was home all night with his brother). ==================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Canvass the Neighbors ==================================== First, let's check out Angel's place. The only room with anything worthwhile in it is the kitchen, where you will a bloody shirt hanging up by the fridge. ------------------------NEW CLUE!: Bloodied Shirt -------------------------

There's also a crate of 'fruit' by the sink, that gives you a new location and a new objective as well: --------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Just Picked Fruit Market --------------------------------------======================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Fruit Market ======================================= You'll get the 'all clear' music here... Ok, let's go check with the neighbors now. Door 305 will answer in his P.J.'s (he works nights) and can't give Angel an alibi. Door 303 isn't home. Door 301 will have someone come out and scare you, but the man says he and his kids went to bed early last night. Door 302 will have a woman come out and advise that she saw the couple argue and then they BOTH left... and the man, Angel, DIDN'T come back home. -------------------------NEW CLUE!: Husband's Alibi -------------------------So.. a bloody shirt AND a broken alibi. Not looking good for Angel. Select the bar as your next destination and head out. You won't get very far though, as dispatch will call you and tell you the captain wants you and Rusty down at the station ASAP. The game will automatically take you there. Head downstairs into tech. services to meet up with the captain. He'll have a couple of B.D. letters that are new, and he'll let you look at them. They are obviously cut and pasted with newspaper/magazine clippings. The first one has the same wording as the Celine case: 'Fuck You, B.D. Tex'. The second is a poem that Cole recognizes as coming from 'Prometheous Unbound'. So. the Black Dahlia killer is educated at least... There's not much we can do with these letters, so the captain will send us upstairs to interview Angel... ======================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Interview Angel Maldonado ======================================== Start by asking him about his last contact with his wife. He'll say she saw him about midnight and didn't stay long. Although it doesn't really make sense, this is a LIE, and you need to present the HUSBANDS ALIBI here (Cole somehow turns the question into 'you left' AFTER you do this). He'll say that she left and jumped into a brown Ford Coupe.

--------------------------NEW CLUE!: Brown Ford Coupe --------------------------Next ask him about the divorce. He'll say that they fought but they WEREN'T getting a divorce. Well, we KNOW this is a LIE, so claim it and present the ATTORNEY'S LETTER. He'll than crack and give the full truth: his wife was drunk and came to serve him papers. He hit her, she fled. Ask about the jewelry taken from the body next. Cole will ask if she was wearing her religous medallion last night. He'll say that she always wore that. Press TRUTH here. You'll also learn she never wore the charm bracelet, just like the landlady said. Lastly, ask about the bloodstained shirt in his place. He'll say that he cut himself shaving. Ha! Unlikely. We can't really prove the lie though, so call DOUBT here. He'll say he and his brother got into a fight. Lot's of fights lately for this guy. He'll than say that she was at El Dorado Bar, and moreso that a creep at the fruit market always had his eyes on his wife. Well, we got two choices again (the same two as before), so let's head out to the El Dorado Bar. On the way Cole will find it odd that every victim lately has a bar attached to it. Enter the bar and talk to the bartender (I like this guy). He'll tell you that she was in her last night and she left a letter. Ah, the divorce papers! -------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Diego Aguilar -------------------------------------You'll be able to ask Diego a couple of questions now. First ask him about the missing jewelry. He'll be right about the necklace, but Cole will ask what time she left, and then he starts looking sketchy. Hit DOUBT here. He'll say that his phone is dead, so he sent her to the fruit market... oh boy... Next ask him about her movements. He'll say that she said she was going to go serve Angel. He also looks more composed, so hit TRUTH here. You'll get a bit more info and than take Diego's shoe size: a broad 9. You can scope out the bar not, but there's not a lot to see here. The phone is indeed out of service. If you head out the back door, a guy from Just Picked Fruits is there making a delivery. Kind-of an interesting scene. You can also look at the fruit boxes nearby. The 'Investigate El Dorado Bar' objective is crossed out now, so head on over to the nearby fruit market. Once you're inside the market, head to the back and talk to the owner. He'll tell you the girl did come by last night and we'll get to ask him some questions. -----------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Clem Feeney ------------------------------------

Start out by asking about the necklace. He'll say that he didn't notice, and starting staring downwards occasionally. Press DOUBT here. Cole then brings up a VERY good point that I didn't even think of: not much fruit get's sold around midnight! He'll admit he sells the odd bottle as well... Ask about his contact with the victim. He'll say she used the phone and left, but then he'll do the eye darting again. Hit DOUBT again and he'll admit he's met her before. Lastly ask about the victim's movements. He'll say that he couldn't get her a cab and she drove off with some stranger. Clem looks very truthful here, so press TRUTH. He'll say it was a brown coupe. Interesting. You'll now get to look around. The only real place to go is the doors that are straight in front of you. He'll have a LOT of liquer back there. You can check the box in the middle, but more importantly check the desk by the door. There's a knife and a tire iron there, and the knife is bloody! -----------------NEW CLUE!: Scalpel -----------------==================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Apprehend Clem Feeney ==================================== Looks like we'll get to take Clem in. Go check out the dresser by the other desk as well. It's that wooden jewelry box. Remember the combo? If you don't it's 2, 5, 3. Once you enter that, the box will pop open and you can inspect it. Once you're done, Clem will overhear you and run. You'll now have to chase him down, with Rusty shooting at his tires. He goes through a couple of narrow openings and cuts through some pedestrians, so be careful (it's better to go slower though any openings then crash, guys). Stay on him and Rusty will bring him down, netting you your criminal (he's even smiling afterwards). Good job guys! Case closed!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The White Shoe Slaying...............................................[LA 2.11] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ More Cole history for us! After that, we'll get a fresh case from the skipper. Here's what we've got to work with from the start: -------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Crime Scene --------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Murder Victim -------------------------------------================================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Signal Hill Crime Scene ================================================== Head to the crime scene and you'll meet up with Malcolm. I'm sure you've noticed it's raining, and that alone has wiped out some of the evidence that

we are used to. Malcolm will say it looks like more of the same: blunt head trauma and strangling, but this victim is clothed and no messages are left behind. -----------------------NEW CLUE!: Time of Death -----------------------Check out the victim's head. Turn it to the right and Cole will pick up on a dry-cleaning tag on her suit. -----------------------NEW CLUE!: Laundry Label ---------------------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Superior Laundry (?) ----------------------------------After that, check out the boot prints nearby. There's also some tire tracks that you can check as well. ---------------------NEW CLUE!: Boot Prints ------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Tire Tracks ---------------------After you check these, the 'all clear' music will play. Before you leave though, Officer Gonzalez will bring a Catherine Barton to the crime scene, as she thinks she can help. ----------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Catherine Barton ----------------------------------------You'll be able to ask her about possible suspects. She'll mention that the other evening she saw a hobo. Go with TRUTH (what else?) and she'll describe him a bit. This is the only question you can ask, but you get a lot from it: ----------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Hobo ----------------------------======================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Locate Disfigured Suspect ======================================== ----------------------------

NEW LOCATION!: Hobo Camp (?) ---------------------------She'll leave now, but go and use the nearby gamewell. You'll get the laundry services address as well as a large hobo camp address. ---------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Superior Laundry Services ----------------------------------------==================================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Superior Laundry Services ==================================================== -----------------------NEW LOCATION!: Hobo Camp -----------------------Well, we've got a couple of leads now at least... let's go check out the laundromat first. [Note: Upon a second playthrough, going to the hobo camp does NOTHING for you, so you may as well just pick the Laundry location now anyways.] Once you're inside of the place, go to the back and talk to the owner. He'll pull out a ledger of service numbers. Nice. Look up 'F1363' and tap on it to find out about the woman's address. ------------------------NEW CLUE!: Laundry Ledger ----------------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: 43 Emerald St. ----------------------------============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Taraldsen Residence ============================================== We'll find out she was Mrs. Taraldsen. There's nothing left to do here, so let's go over to her home. See what her husband has to say. Once you get to the home, you'll have to 'break' the news to the husband. Ah, he'll have two small girls as well. Rusty will tell them to wait while we investigate the place. The husband will also tell us that he was waiting for his wife to get home from a party. We'll get several new clues here before investigating: --------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Lars Taraldsen ---------------------------------------

----------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Bobby Ross -------------------------------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Taraldsen Residence ---------------------------------From the living room, check out the matches by the chessboard (by the banister). They are from Baron's Bar (another bar!), giving you a new location to check out. -------------------NEW CLUE!: Matchbook --------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Baron's Bar -------------------------====================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Baron's Bar ====================================== After that, go check out the two bedrooms. This kid's room has nothing good in it, but the adults room has another matchbook and a picture of the couple turned upside-down (foreshadowing?). Now go check in the kitchen. The victim left her handbag here, with a driver's ID and lipstick. --------------------------NEW CLUE!: Victim's Handbag --------------------------Now go check in the walkway for two more pieces of evidence: muddy boots and a wet jacket. So, he was outside at some point at least. ---------------------NEW CLUE!: Muddy Boots -----------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Wet Jacket --------------------Now go check around outside. There's hardly been ANY outside clues up to now, but I check EVERYWHERE and found one! Go check the boat, you'll see a piece of the rope is missing... ------------------NEW CLUE!: Bow Rope

------------------You also may have noticed the gamewell across the street is lit up. You can run over there and have dispatch send someone to Bobby Ross's place to check on the husband's alibi and get the address... Now go inside and talk to the husband. The first thing Cole will ask is his wife's name: Theresa. Go ahead and ask him about possible suspects. He'll say that everyone loved Theresa and no one would want to hurt her. He'll look up from time to time, in almost a pitiful state. Well, we have the bow rope that COULD HAVE killed her, so call out a LIE here and present the BOW ROPE. He'll realize it looks bad. Next ask about his alibi. He'll say they were at the party when she got bored and decided to leave. He'll also glance off every now and again. No way to prove that, so say DOUBT. He'll say she wanted to go dancing at Baron's Bar. Hmm... Next ask about her state of mind. He'll say he thinks she was happy, but will do the eye thing again. We have no proof (I wonder if the photograph had been a clue if lie would have worked) so say DOUBT. He'll blow off a little steam here and say he left the party at 8:30.. Lastly ask him about the last time he saw his wife. Now this one got me. It'll look like the truth, but it isn't, so call it a LIE and present the WET JACKET as proof. He'll say that a cute brunette was hitting on him and he walked her home. Well, we got all our questions right, but we have nothing definitive to pin on Lars. Wet gear and missing rope hardly prove a thing. Rusty will say we should go to the bar as it looks like she had her last drink there. [Note: Upon a second playthrough, you can go to the HOBO CAMP now and skip all the stuff between here and there. BUT, that will only get you a FOUR star rating (due to the low amount of clues you'll round up).] Once you're at the bar, go in and talk to the bartender. He'll know right away that this is about Theresa. He'll say he tried to call her husband but the babysitter said he was out. -----------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Benny Cluff -----------------------------------You can ask him some questions now. Ask about the last contact with her. He'll say she left around 10:30 by cab. Go with TRUTH here. He'll even pull out a sheet with the cab number: Yellow Cab 3591. Nice guy. -------------------------NEW CLUE!: Yellow Cab 3591 -------------------------=====================================

NEW OBJECTIVE: Locate Yellow Cab 3591 ===================================== Makes you wonder how she didn't get home, huh? Next ask about the 'Vagrant Male Suspect'. The barkeep will look like he doesn't even believe himself afterwards, so call that into DOUBT. Turns out two guys were on here: a sailor in uniform and a parton who's there right now (Richard Bates). -------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Richard Bates -------------------------------------Finally ask him about the yellow cab. He'll have no idea where she Probably some dance hall somewhere. Go with TRUTH here. Time to go this Bates guy. The barkeep will point him out, but he won't stick long! You'll have to chase the son of a bitch on foot as he starts ====================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Apprehend Richard Bates ====================================== Run after him with Rusty, but you won't have to run for very long. A car will come along and almost hit Richard, and then he'll get into his truck. We'll have the car, though, so jump in. Now, be VERY CAREFUL of this starting area of the chase: it's got some SHARP corners with a drop off on the left and a hill on the right. Take this first area carefully and open up when you get on the roads (be careful of pedestrian's too, as Richard cuts through some crowds). Rusty will shoot at him when you have clear shots lines up, so keep on him and hit his wheel wells when you can to bring him down. Once you do you'll get to ask him some questions. Start off by asking him his contact with the victim. He'll say that he's clear on that, she preferred the sailor and suggests you pin it on him. The balls on this one! DOUBT that and he'll confirm the dancing story and that he was trying to get with her like the sailor. Ask him to account for his movements next. He'll say that the sailor laid one on him afterwards. Well, that really doesn't explain why he ran from us, so DOUBT that too. He'll say he's on parol for sexual assault and Cole will arrange a cell for him... Well, that was fun but didn't produce much. Get in the car with Rusty and drive a ways up the road as the gamewell sign is on. On the way Rusty will put out an APB for the yellow cab. At the gamewell, you'll get a message from the captain saying he has the sailor you're looking for. Nice! You should get the following messages: ------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Yellow Cab Trace ------------------------------------------------------------------was headed. talk to around to run.

NEW LOCATION!: Central Police Station ------------------------------------======================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Interrogate James Jessop ======================================= Now, if you haven't noticed, some chase music is playing. That's because the yellow cab is ON YOUR MAP and you need to MANUALLY pull him over. You can put a marker on him to help. Pull him over to see a cutscene and get some good info from the cabbie: ----------------------------NEW CLUE!: Victim's Movements --------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Cab Driver ----------------------------------Ok, with that done let's head in and talk to this sailor. Head back to the police station. The officer there will tell you he's in interview room 2. Go in and he'll say he heard about the murder on the radio and came down HIMSELF. Interesting. Ask him about his contact with Theresea. He'll say they had a couple of drinks. See how GUILTY he looks about it though, glancing down? Call that into DOUBT. He'll say he's not proud of himself for trying to get her drunk more, but he does say he took her to the crystal ballroom (just like the cabbie said). Next ask about the Bates incident. He'll say the guy was a creep and start looking guilty again. Do another DOUBT. He'll say he did it since he only had one night free. A shining example of chivalry. Ask about his movements next, after the ballroom. He'll say she took a cab from there and he took a bus back to base. More eye movement though. Go with DOUBT again. He'll say they were both on the bus, an 'All American' #249. Sounds like he got sick on having no chance to get any... --------------------------NEW CLUE!: All American 249 --------------------------Ask about the Cab driver next. He'll say that he wasn't getting too familiar with her, but is just forcing back a big grin. Call that into DOUBT too. He'll admit that my guess was right above, saying he got sick of having no chance with her. After the interview, an officer will come up and say that he's got news on the hobo. He's been sighted AND he's wanted in connection with two other female assaults... Rusty will also tell us of a bus depot that we can check and confirm the sailor's story with.

-----------------------NEW LOCATION!: Hobo Camp -----------------------==================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Hobo Camp ==================================== -----------------------NEW LOCATION!: Bus Depot -----------------------=============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Interstate Bus Depot =============================================== Personally, I did the Bus Depot first (even though I'm regretting I did). What you'll have to do is head to the Bus Depot location next. On the way there, Cole will have a patrol pick up Lars, as the Bobby Ross people say the poker game ended at about midnight (plenty of time to kill his wife). At the bus depot, go in and let the cutscene take over. You'll get the name of the bus driver from last night. Turns out he's out driving the 74 route now. ---------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Frank Zeferelli --------------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Bus Route Map -----------------------===================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Locate All American 74 ===================================== What you'll need to do here is try and find the 74 bus. Except we have NO idea where it is. What we do have is the route, which is marked in RED on the map. The idea behind this is to follow the red route until we find the bus... I DON'T know if it's random, but I drove straight to start with and it took me FOREVER to find the bus. Maybe try driving the opposite direction? At least Rusty and Cole have some good banter. Once you find the bus pull it over to talk to Frank. He'll confirm that the sailor was telling the truth, however it seems that Theresea was confused and lost, and she was dropped off near a hobo camp. --------------------------NEW CLUE!: Victim Last Seen --------------------------All that work to be left with the Hobo lead! Rusty will call in for some

backup as hobo's hate cops. Good idea. Head to the camp and you'll enter into a scene where the hobo leader will rally the men against you. Rusty will make most of them run with a shotgun blast, but you're left to fight the leader hand-to-hand. ======================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Arrest Disfigured Suspect ======================================== Hit and dodge: he's nothing special. Watch the cutscene after to learn his name (he's the disfigured man, Stuart Ackerman). Some officers will cart him off, leaving you to explore. Enter the hut straight ahead to find an ever-rare newspaper. This one is .:NEWSPAPER: Missing Morphine:.. (looks like Keslo's a reporter). Check out the rest of the hut. Near the bed you'll find a blood-stained piece of rope. ---------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Bloodstained Rope Piece ---------------------------------Directly behind that you'll find a green woman's purse. Inside of it is a Crystal Ballrooms stub. Interesting. ---------------NEW CLUE!: Purse ---------------========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Interrogate Stuart Ackerman ========================================== ------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Central Police Station ------------------------------------Note that the 'all clear' music will ring out now. Time to go interrogate the bum. Cole will run down all the people they've arrested and it does seem like Stuart is the most likely: we just don't know the motive. At the station go find him in interrogation room #1 (to the left). Cole will comment on his burns coming from the war on flamethrower duty. Ask him about his motive. He'll say he can't remember the people he's killed. Wow... call it a LIE and show him the BLOODSTAINED ROPE. He'll say it doesn't belong to him as he owns no property... yeah, this guy is a bit nuts. Ask about his contact with the victim. He'll say he goes where he wants... He'll than look around. Something's fishy here but we really can't call that a lie. Do DOUBT instead. He's off the deep end now. Lastly ask for an alibi. Call it a LIE and he'll say he was at the camp and we can't link her to him. Show him the PURSE. He'll say he kills because

that's what he's trained to do. CRAZY!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Studio Secretary Murder..........................................[LA 2.12] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This mission will start out with the captain talking to on the phone about a pawned rose gold wedding ring and matching engagement ring. Sound familiar? Cole will remember the Moller case. Looks like there's more to it. The captain will also tell us that another murder has occurred at the rail depot on Santa Fe Ave.. We'll have the following clues to go on from the start: ------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Pawnbroker ----------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Railyard -----------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Murder Victim -----------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Pawned Rings ----------------------=============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Globe Loan & Jewelry =============================================== =============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Railyard Crime Scene =============================================== Well Head came them I won't lie, I'm interested in the rings, so let's go the pawnshop first. in and talk to the owner. He'll say that some guy named Percy B. Shelley in and sold him the rings. Go ahead and inspect both of them, tilting until you see the marks on each of them.

Surprisingly, the guy who sold off the rings DOESN'T get added as a clue. He even had an address! The game will explain it though, when you start to drive off to the rail depot: Percy B. Shelley is the same person who wrote the poem that the Black Dahlia sent into the police station. He's having fun with us, and likely killed Diedre Moller. Shit. Rusty will tell us to keep it to ourselves until we can call the captain. At the railroad you'll learn that a Nelson Gaines phoned in the murder. He and a guy named 'Jamison' are here as well with Officer Hart. -------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Crime Scene

--------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Nelson Gaines ----------------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: 'Jamison' ---------------------------------Head over to the body and talk to Malcolm. He'll state that she was killed after midnight. Check the body. As you examine her head Cole will notice a smell... she's.. 'dirty' and smells of alcohol, probably a vagrant. ------------------NEW CLUE!: Vagrancy ------------------Inspect her right hand as well to find more missing jewelry. Malcolm will also try to narrow down the time of death for us as midnight to 2 A.M. ----------------------NEW CLUE!: Missing Ring ---------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Time of Death -----------------------You can also inspect the rail car nearby with the blood splatter, but go check out the rug on the left where all of her personal stuff was placed. Here you'll find several clues, including her name (Evelyn Summers) as well as an old I.D. badge, a personal letter, a matchbook, and some sort of list. You'll get all these clues and two objectives afterwards: -----------------NEW CLUE!: Handbay ----------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Upper Half of Torn Letter ----------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Movie Lot Job -----------------------======================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Mensch's Bar ======================================= =============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Trace Address of Levine's Liquor ===============================================

You'll get the 'all clear' music now. Now go talk to Nelson, who will tell you he found the body at 7:30 AM, with 'Jamison' lying on top of her. Wow... You'll let him go after that. Go talk to Jamison now. He'll say he was kissing her... and then immediately gets punched by Rusty. Yeah, he deserved it. But we have questions to ask... You'll also see he had her LIPSTICK with him.. Ugh... ------------------NEW CLUE!: Lipstick ------------------First ask him about his interference. He'll say he took a look through her purse. He looks VERY truthful here, so press TRUTH. Next ask about how he discovered the body. He'll say he works here and was headed home, but starts in with the facial gestures. Can't prove that wrong, so hit DOUBT. Cole will place him under arrest, if for nothing more then to ponder how he'd like to be treated if he was found dead. Good move. Go over to the gamewell nearby and make a phone car to trass the address of Levine's Liquor. You'll get a location updated and a new objective: -----------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Levine's Liquor Store -----------------------------------================================================ NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Levine's Liquor Store ================================================ Ok, now we have to pick where to go. Let's go to the bar. Once you walk in, the owner will greet you, saying that he thinks Evelyn was living rought too, and she's drank with a bunch of guys. We get to ask around now. The guy by the door is nice and awnry, but the game glosses over him. HOWEVER, the other man puts us into a cutscene when we merely get NEAR him. -------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Grosvenor McCaffrey -------------------------------------------We'll now get a chance to ask Grosvenor McCaffrey a couple of questions (what a name!). First ask about his last contact with Evelyn. He'll say he was at home writing. Grosvenor is pretty straight-faced normally, but he'll start to smirk every now and again like he's remembering something. Press DOUBT here. This will give us some interesting info, as he says she hung out with a James Tiernan, who works at Rawlings Bowling Alley (which Rusty will give you the address for as some cops bowl there). -------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: James Tiernan

--------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Rawling's Bowling Alley -------------------------------------================================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Rawling's Bowling Alley ================================================== Next ask him about his criminal record. He'll say nothing serious. He looks lost in doubt though, so call DOUBT on that too. Not too interesting. Now let's head out to the liquor store. Notice how the bar location isn't crossed out? The investigate objective is though! At the liquor store, the owner will tell you that Evelyn actually STAYED THERE, as she had a bed in the back. He'll show you. Here you can investigate a couple of photographs, some old film memorabilia, and a book that she was borrowing from GROSVENOR... that guy wasn't being entirely honest with us! You'll only get one clue from examining her living area (you'll also hear the 'all clear' music): --------------NEW CLUE!: Book --------------Go back and you'll get to talk to the liquor store owner. First ask him about his contact with Evelyn. He'll say she came by in the morning to buy some rye. Nice. Press TRUTH here. Apparently the booze was a present for a boy. -------------------------NEW CLUE!: Liquor Purchase -------------------------Next ask about his relationship with Evelyn. He'll say he'll be sad that she's gone, one of the few. How sad! Press TRUTH here too. Next ask about his knowledge of McCaffrey. It's hard to spot, but his eyes dart downwards occasionally at this question, so call it DOUBT. Apparently she idolized the guy. The owner will say that he'll try and make arrangements for the funeral. Well, let's go back to the bar and ask old Grosy about his book in Evelyn's possession (you'll see that there's a new question under his name in your notebook, and that's most likely the reason the bar isn't crossed out yet in the locations list). On the way, you'll get a message to meet the captain at the station, adding a location and a new objective. Keep heading to the bar though. ------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Central Police Station

------------------------------------======================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Return to Central Station ======================================== Ask the writer about his relationship with Evelyn. He'll maintain he barely knew her, so call it a LIE and show him the BOOK. He'll THEN say that she STOLE the book from him and lied to him about it. Interesting. He'll add on that he saw her and Tiernan go into a hotel last night with a brown paper bag (the rye?). This will add a new clue. --------------------------NEW CLUE!: Victim Last Seen --------------------------Ok, let's go see what the captain wants (the bar is crossed out now). Go into the police station and downstairs to see the captain. He'll drop some ground breaking news: the found a message from the Black Dahlia on Theresa (the one girl who had no lipstick writing) under her dress: Cunt, B.D. Also, the lipstick writing on everyone else was the SAME brand. The captain will want this under wraps (they are all suspecting the same killer is at large and don't want to blow any cases) and tells you to follow up on Evelyn Summers. As we go up the stairs, Rusty will tell us to get an address for McCaffrey, adding a location and an objective. ---------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: McCaffrey's Apartment (?) ---------------------------------------=================================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Trace Address on Grosvenor McCaffrey =================================================== The police station is full of phones so grab one and have it traced. -----------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: McCaffrey's Apartment -----------------------------------================================================ NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate McCaffrey's Apartment ================================================ Ok, let's head out and check out the bowling alley now. Once you get there, you'll talk to a nice old lady about Tiernan, who you'll see after the cutscene jetting towards the back. Follow him. He'll run right away, leading to another car chase. Stay on him and have Rusty keep shooting at his tires. It's not too hard of a chase, Tiernan will run through a public square at one point (be careful of the trees/people) and will actually run into a train tunnel (be careful of the INCOMING trains on the left), but just keep

hitting him and letting Rusty shoot to take him out. An officer will come collect him. Before heading to the station, let's go check out the apartment. You can verify that he's in apartment six by the mailbox, which is up the stairs on the right and to the left. No one will answer the door, so Rusty will tell you to kick it in. Go ahead. All of the books in here are red herrings (but have interesting titles) and all you need to examine for the 'all clear' music is the OTHER half of the torn letter on the desk and the BLOODY tire iron (rotate it to see that is says RAWLINGS BOWLING) on it -----------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Upper Half of Torn Letter ------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Tire Iron -------------------The next door neighbor will come in expecting Grosvenor, but will be useful as she'll tell us that he has a pigeon coop on the roof. Well, let's go see the young lad. He'll start to flee as soon as he see's us. Rusty will go get the car while we have to chase him. He'll get a good head start on you as he runs fire escape. He'll than start running through be hard to follow. You'll gain on him after a tackle him. An officer will lead him downtown across the catwalk and down the the residential areas, but won't few minutes and be able to for questioning.

=================================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Return to Central for Interrogations =================================================== Like an earlier case, we'll now have to return to the HQ and interrogate the suspects. And like the earlier case, we're going to question BOTH of them (for more experience AND more questions). The captain will greet us at the station, and say that Tiernan is in room #1 and McCaffrey is in room #2. He'll deal with the pervert himself, as none of us think that he's guilty (do you?!). Let's go talk to Tiernan. Cole will ask him why he ran, to which James replies that he ran because he was the last to see her alive, and we'd think HE did it. Shit-for-brains apparently doesn't think running will make him look guilty! Ask him about his relationship with Evelyn. He'll say he barely knew her, but his eyes are darting around. That's a lie, we know he went to a hotel with her. Call out the LIE and present the VICTIM LAST SEEN evidence. He'll say they used to meet up to read and drink. Interesting combo. Next ask about the victim's book. He'll say she wanted something of his. He'll blink oddly though. Hit DOUBT here and he'll bring up Grosvner's criminal record. Next ask about his alibi. He'll say he can't remember last night. That's an

obvious lis, the liquor owner told us they fought and she bought him a bottle. Call a LIE here and present the LIQUOR purchase. Sounds like James was sick of playing second fiddle to Evelyn and kicked her out. Lastly ask about his access to the murder weapon. He'll say they use a lot of them, to clear the pins out. That sounds like the truth to me but he does the eye darting routine. Call DOUBT here. He'll end up telling us that McCaffrey was threatening Evelyn after learning she stole his book. ------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Tiernan's Accusation ------------------------------Time to go questioning ol' Grosby. Note that the first question is already crossed out. Ask about his alibi. He'll say he was at home all night. We can call a LIE here, as we have that TORN LETTER. How the heck could he have that if he was at home. He'll claim ignorance and that someone must have put it there. Next ask about his access to the tire iron. He'll claim that he's not stupid enough to leave the evidence at his place. He'll then do his familiar smirk routine. Call a LIE here and present TIERNAN'S ACCUSATION. And NOW the bombshell. Grosby will say that TIERNAN came to him AFTER he killed Evelyn. He'll say that he took his things and told Tiernan that he would get rid of them and not to go to the police. Kind-of an odd thing to do, but it gives us another clue: --------------------------------NEW CLUE!: McCaffrey's Accusation --------------------------------We got another question for Tiernan now, so let's go talk to him again. On the way you can use the nearby telephone, where Cole will ask dispatch for McCaffrey's criminal record. Turns out he was DISHONORABLY DISCHARGED from the military for almost BEATING A WOMAN TO DEATH. Well, shit. He said he was arrested for protesting. Bullshit. -------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: McCaffrey's Criminal Record -------------------------------------Well, go visit Tiernan and ask about the events prior to the murder. He'll say he just plain woke up the next morning. Call it a LIE and present him with MCCAFFREY'S ACCUSASION. He'll FINALLY crack, saying that McCaffrey woke him up the next morning and showed him the bloody wrench and letter, and told him that he killed Evelyn and he'd protect him. He'll then be on the verge of tears, saying he could have done it, and will ask you if he did. Wow, that's moving. I really don't think he did it. Go back and ask McCaffrey about his military service now. He'll say that what he saw in the war changed him. Cole will bring up the petty theft, to which he'll reply he's never been charged with violence, "the salient point" of

our argument. You know that's a LIE, so call LIE and present his CRIMINAL RECORD. He'll get VERY angry here, saying that the assault charge woman had it coming for trying to steal his wallet, and Evelyn had it coming too! You'll of course have to pick who to charge here... I picked McCaffrey, naturally. The captain will be pleased, and tell you to put a repeat offender out of our minds as McCaffrey is a fine catch.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Quarter Moon Murders.............................................[LA 2.13] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ More history of Cole's past. He definitely comes off as a control freak, no? The captain will tell you that they got a new letter from the Black Dahlia, giving you a chance to take a look. Go ahead and look at all of the clues. The cut-out letter is his way of clearly telling us he murdered Theresa, as he once again writes 'Cunt B.D.'. He'll also include a small little book of Shelley poems as well as another letter with an excerpt. A rather amusing cutscene will start now. The captain doesn't want to let FIVE MURDER VICTIMS walk free and our job is on the line. Cole will be reading the poems and really the only thing he can come up with is that the killer is toying with us, and means the excerpt LITERALLY, giving us a new objective. [*NOTE: For this part of the game, it REALLY helps to know where all of the city's landmarks are. Consider finding them first.] -----------------------------NEW CLUE!: Black Dahlia Letter ------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Shelley Excerpt -------------------------========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Pershing Square ========================================== Well, it's all we got, so head on over to Pershing Square. Once you're there you will of course need to examine the fountain. Climb up there and Cole will find a couple of more clues, including a 2nd excerpt and Elizabeth Short's social security card (clearly the man wants us to know he is the Black Dahlia). ------------------------NEW CLUE!: Second Excerpt ------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Social Security Card -------------------------------

========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Decipher the Second Excerpt ========================================== Now, if you've taken the time to look at the landmarks yet, this new excerpt will probably remind you of one of them? If not, well I'll tell you anyways. Chec out the 'Hall of Records' landmark DESCRIPTION. That fits perfectly with the poem. Set your destination there and you'll see the objective update itself (my wife points out that the social security card is also a good clue pointing to the Hall of Records! Good catch, honey!). Head on over there and you'll ask the security guard how to get to the top of the chandelier. An odd request for sure. -----------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Hall of Records -----------------------------=================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Scale the Chandelier =================================== Go upstairs and into the maintenance room (Follow Rusty). There'll be a ladder here that you need to climb and a door leading out to the chandelier. Rusty will of course give you the honors. You'll have to walk across a length of wire. This is a simple balancing game: stay STRAIGHT as you walk forwards, and if you lean one way or another you must correct yourself. On the chandelier you'll find Diedre Moller's WATCH. You'll also find another poem excerpt. -------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Deidre Moller's Watch ------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Third Excerpt -----------------------As soon as you examine both of them, the chandelier wires will snap, leaving you in danger. What you need to do here is use the L stick and move it back and forth, rocking the chandelier from left to right like a swing. Keep doing that and pressing 'X' when you swing to the left and eventually Cole will jump to safety. Now we need to figure out where to go next. ========================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Decipher the Third Excerpt ========================================= This will be based on yet another landmark (and took me awhile to figure out). If you DON'T want my help, note that you CAN narrow down where to go by

wetting a landmark as a destination and than exiting the map and seeing if your objective updates or not. Where we need to go next is the L.A. Public Library. ---------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: L.A. Public Library ---------------------------------====================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Climb the Library Tower ====================================== Once we are there, Rusty will be lazy yet again and tell you to climb the nearby drainpipe. Go ahead and climb it, and use the scaffolding to get on top. You'll now have to climb the rest of the way up the structure to the right. Make your way up using a nearby ladder (to the right) and you'll go through climbing a series of ladders and pipes, while occasionally doing more balancing work and gap-jumping (run at the gaps to jump them). At the VERY top, you'll find two more clues in the corner, including the medal that Antonia wore and a fourth excerpt! -----------------------------NEW CLUE!: Antonia's Medallion -----------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Fourth Excerpt ------------------------========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Decipher the Fourth Excerpt ========================================== After examining them, the game will be nice and drop you off at the bottom automatically. Tell Rusty what you saw. We have to find the fourth place now. Search for it yourself if you want, but you'll want to head to the Westlake Tar Pits next. -------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Westlake Tar Pits -------------------------------=============================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Reach the Island ================================ Follow Rusty once you get there and he'll lead you to a pair of waders. Oh boy! Cole will change into them. Now our objective is to reach the island, but to do it we'll have to cross the tar. You'll be on a plank, and if you angle the camera down you can make out a clear path. Between the four posts sticking

up is the 'safe zone' where the planks won't lower, but the planks between safe zones WILL lower as you walk on them, so KEEP MOVING. As Rusty will point out the path will snake around (I went to the right to start), but you have a clear path (keep following the planks and keep moving) so this "obstacle" is pretty laughable. Once you reach the island, you'll find two more pieces of evidence. One of Theresea's missing shoes and another excerpt: ----------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Theresa Taraldsen's Shoe ---------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Fifth Excerpt -----------------------========================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Decipher the Fifth Excerpt ========================================= The excerpt will mention a sphere which is as many thousand spheres. This one was easy for me: we need to go to the L.A. County Art Museum. Once you get there you'll see the sphere and a hedge maze. ------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: L.A. County Art Museum ------------------------------------=========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Reach the Center of the Maze =========================================== Lovely. From the car, follow the signs to the maze. Lazy Galloway will sit and smoke, leaving us to find our way through the maze. Maze's are all about which turns to take, so here's what turns you need to take. 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Intersection: Intersection: Intersection: Intersection: Right Right (Followed IMMEDIATELY by a LEFT) Left (This is DIRECTLY after the above intersection) Straight

After that, you'll find the famous spheres and two clues, including a notable missing ring and another excerpt. ------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Celine Henry's Garnet Ring -----------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Sixth Excerpt ------------------------

========================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Decipher the Sixth Excerpt ========================================= Wow, this guy is really baiting us. Using the excerpt, we'll have to find our next location. This one's not as easy, but you've been here before. You'll need to head to the Intolerance Set. Once you get there you'll see a nice panoramic of the place. Our goal is to get to the throne. More climbing! -----------------------NEW LOCATION!: Movie Set -----------------------================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Climb to the Throne ================================== Follow Rusty across the lot to the stairs. Go up them with him and follow the path until you'll find yourself on a teetering column. This is another balance game. You'll have to stop the column from crashing down by using your own weight as a counter-balance. When it starts to lean one was, be quick about moving yourself to the opposite direction. After a bit, Rusty will help, and then you should make it lean forward while pressing 'X' to reach safe ground. After that, take any ladder down to the throne and inspect the clues that were left for you there, including another excerpt and Evelyn Summer's ring. ------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Evelyn Summers' Ring -------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Seventh Excerpt -------------------------After examining those, the movie set will come crashing down. ========================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Escape the Intolerance Set ========================================= When you regain control, SPRINT to the right and than straight ahead from there as the walkway crumbles beneath you and things fall from above. It's actually very straight-forward. =========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Decipher the Seventh Excerpt ===========================================

We'll now have to find his 'home'. This one wasn't too hard, but your next destination is the nearby Christ Crown of Thorns Church (which is apparently abandoned). When you get to the church, only a location will pop up, not an objective. Let's just go inside and have a looksy... ---------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Abandoned Church and Presbytery ---------------------------------------------Inside you'll find it immediately. It the record, I KNEW must find a way to what you've been looking for this WHOLE time... then lose appears that it was the temp bartender this whole time (for it was him!). He'll disappear into the catacombs, and we him.

================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Enter the Catacombs ================================== From the pulpit there is an exit to the outside on the right. Straight ahead is a house you'll have to enter. Bust down the first door and then the door right after it. You'll get a small cutscene about the bloody bathtub here. There's also several "clues" you can find (they don't pop up as clues) around this room, including a statue of a titan, a bloody wrench, and two surgical tools. Once you're done, you can get into the catacombs by the ladder that Rusty is standing by. ================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Kill Garrett Mason ================================= Go down into the catacombs. This whole chase is through a linear series of twists and turns, so keep chasing him and enjoy the dialog. Eventually Garrett will quit running (or run out of room to run) and will fight. Stay in cover and pop out to shoot him after he shoots at you. Enjoy the scenes afterwards. I won't spoil them. Suffice to say that politics, and everything that comes with them, is one of the worst things about the U.S. today... Congrats on your promotion to the Vice Desk!

.:| VICE CASES! |:.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Black Caesar.....................................................[LA 2.14] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Well shit... looks like Roy Earle is out new partner. Not only that, but HE is the one that asked for us. Guess he likes Cole. Oh well, he can't be any lazier than Rusty, right? Plus he's got a VERY nice "police car". Oh, we're also assigned to the Hollywood Division precinct now, just so you know. Hooray? We'll be asked to investigate two dead guys who were taking army surplus morphine (making it a vice case instead of homicide). We'll have these clues to go on from the start:

-------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Army Surplus Morphine -------------------------------====================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Crime Scene ====================================== Go ahead and head over to the crime scene. Once you get there it's up the stairs and at the very end. Roy will tell us a bit about the victims, and the drug trade in general. See, Cole is the type of guy who wants to take EVERYONE down while Roy says you just need to keep it manageable. We'll have two new person's of interest. -------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Cornell Tyree --------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Tyrone Lamont -------------------------------------Being vice now, we're more concerned with the drug's than we are with the death's. After all, no one killed these two but themselves... Start out by checking the wallet right by the open door (Tyrone's wallet) for a clue. Also check out the popcorn cup nearby. ----------------------NEW CLUE!: Numbers Slip --------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Popcorn Cups ----------------------For the record, there are a LOT of popcorn cups in this place... and a whole lot of needles. Sense a correlation? You can also inspect the body in the chair, but no clues. The body on the floor however has a wallet with a clue in it (turn him over and check his front pocket). ----------------------------NEW CLUE!: Radio Station Note ----------------------------After that you can check out the bedroom (nothing but red herrings), but then check out the living room table for a very strange doodle. ------------------------NEW CLUE!: Strange Doodle -------------------------

There's also another popcorn cup and needles nearby you should check, as it updates your morphine clue. Finally, go into the kitchen and inspect the popcorn cup on the counter to see what you've probably suspected: how these dopers are getting their fix. That'll update the popcorn clue and add an objective. =========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Search Black Caesar Food Hut =========================================== You'll hear the 'all clear' music now. Well, let's go check it out, it's just right across the street after all. Once you get over there and give him the whole "LAPD" rap the fry cook will run. Time to chase after him. ===================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Apprehend the Fry Cook ===================================== You'll chase him a ways and eventually up onto some roofs (and some big drops afterwards). Eventually you'll have to fight him (after being clotheslined). This is one of the harder fights up to now as he'll block a bit and almost always has a nice one-two. I like to dodge the one-two and counter, as that does reliant damage. Try to dodge just once and you'll take a hit. Cole and Roy will drag him back to the food hut, getting his name in the process and giving Cole time to snoop around. ----------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Fleetwood Morgan ----------------------------------------========================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Interview Fleetwood Morgan ========================================= Check the briefcase in the hut first. The two things in here of interest are the ticket stub on the lower left and the item on the lower right. Interact and inspect both for these clues: -------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Numbers Operation -------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Numbers Racket ------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Blue Room Pass -------------------------

--------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Jermaine Jones --------------------------------------Make sure you got all of the above, then examine the box by the other side of the room. You'll see that it's filled with plenty of popcorn cups and doses of morphine, obviously packaged for distribution. -----------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Morphine for Distribution -----------------------------------You'll hear the 'all clear' music now. Time to interview Fleetwood. First ask him about the morphine victims. The idiot will try to say he sells food. Ha! Use LIE here along with the POPCORN CUPS WITH MORPHINE. Fleetwood will say that an Armstrong Edwards supplies him, but Roy knows the guy, saying that he is small time too... Fleetwood will say that the supplier is Jermaine Jones. --------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Distributor Identified --------------------------------Next ask about the number slips. He'll say that they are the white man's tax on poor folk. That's pretty vague, and he keeps looking away, so press DOUBT here. He'll give us a name on the numbers: Merlon. That's all he knows. We'll get some more objectives after that: ------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Merlon Ottie ------------------------------------============================================ NEW OBJECTIVE: Trace Jermaine Jones' Address ============================================ ==================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate 'Ottie's' ==================================== You can trace the address after the cut scene by using the phone directly behind you for a new objective. =========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Search Jones' Booking Agency =========================================== Well, we have a choice on what to do next, but let's head over to the booking agency for now. Once you arrive go up the stairs and check out the directory. Jermaine's agency is inside and on the left. Go in and you'll see two guys loafing around in the 'waiting area'. Go talk to

Jermaine at his desk for a scene. We'll get a chance to search the area now. There's some stuff behind him, but it's all red herrings, the GOOD stuff is. Examine the jukebox. You'll be able to play with the three buttons on the front. Turn the middle button to 'FM' and then tune the thing. Remember the note we got from the apartment that said JJ listens to 275 FM? Tune it to 275 and the thing will open, showing Jermaine's stash. He'll then send his goons at you. ================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Subdue Jones' Goons ================================== You'll have to box this guy now. He's not too hard (I suspect he's somewhat strung out), dodge his one-two and lay into him. Do that twice and you're done. You'll now get a chance to inspect the radio. There's FIVE things in here that you should pick up and look at: The money, the morphine, the numbers ticket, the bad of weed, and the sticker on the lid of the jukebox. After inspecting all five of those things you should get the following: ========================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Interrogate Jermaine Jones ========================================= --------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Ramez Removals (?) --------------------------------========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Find Ramez Removals Address ========================================== Time to question Jermaine. Sit down and ask him about the supply of morphine. He'll say he has no idea. Yeah right. We don't have any direct proof, so press DOUBT here. He'll then through out a name: Lenny the Fink. -----------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Lenny Finkelstein -----------------------------------------Next ask about 'Ottie's' involvement. Cole will ask about the link between the number slips and the morphine, which Jermaine will say there is none. He'll look awfully nervous though, moving his eyes and head around. Press LIE here and present the DISTRIBUTOR IDENTIFIES clue (it mentions the number slips too). He'll tell you more about Merlon Ottie and Finkelstein. --------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Finkelstein Identified ---------------------------------

Lastly ask about the link to Ramez Removals. He'll say he just bought a radio from there, but look at him. Shifty eyes, stupid grin... press DOUBT here. Turns out he is Finkelstein's friend. Officers will then take everyone in. Afterwards you'll be back out on the street. You can use the nearby phone to call in and have the Ramez place trace out now. ----------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Jose Ramez --------------------------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Ramez Removals ----------------------------========================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Ramez Removals ========================================= Ok, let's go check out the number's operation. Once you get there, go in the building and up the stairs. You'll meet Merlon here, who will say that he runs a legitimate bookmakers business. Uh-huh. Cole will question that, then he'll say that the LAPD already get's their cut. Funny! Roy will tell him to be quiet while we look around. This whole place is full of herrings EXCEPT the big red slot machine in the back. Remember that doodle we got from the junk-heads apartment? What you need to do here is to line up the slots with the doodle. So we need to make the slot machine read: CHERRY BELL WIN!

Note that you can HOLD any of the wheels if you get any of them right. Just keep playing until you get the above order correctly. When you hit the order right, the machine will open. Inspect the morphine, number cards, and 'Ramez' sticker. Merlon will try to run afterwards, so you'll have to chase him down. ===================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Apprehend Merlon Ottie ===================================== Chase him out of the building and through the diner. With any luck, he'll run into some pedestrians and give you plenty of time to catch him (he got knocked down by a diner's exit for me). Just stay on him and you'll have him. You'll get to investigate his cane as well afterwards to find an IOU note from Ramez. ------------------NEW CLUE!: IOU Note ------------------=======================================

NEW OBJECTIVE: Interrogate Merlon Ottie ======================================= Time to question Merlon. First ask him about the morphine. He'll say he only prefers 'sporting' outcomes, but looks very nervous and distracted. That's an obvious LIE, so say so and present the FINKELSTEIN IDENTIFIED proof. Next ask him about the IOU note. He'll say we all owe somebody. He looks honest here, so press TRUTH. Cole will have an officer pick him up afterwards. Looks like it's on to Ramez's place now. As soon as you get there, you'll see a cutscene that ends up in a car chase. The car you need to take out is a huge delivery van. Yikes! Cole will call in for backup, so you'll have SEVERAL police cars helping you out along the way! However, the van doors will also fly open and someone will be chucking furniture at you. Do your best to avoid the furniture and stay on the van. Try to side-swipe his rear axel while Roy shoots at them. This isn't too hard, and the other police cars will help out. Once you take him down you'll be back at Ramez's place and can look around. First off, go to the table's on the left and find the rare newspaper. This one is .:NEWSPAPER: Mickey Cohen:.. Nice background-history. Should have just killed them all. After that examine the ledger on the other table. As Roy will mention, look for names that ship and recieve (the left hand page is INCOMING, the right hand page is OUTGOING). You'll notice that Ramez gets a lot of ICE SHIPMENTS in the left hand page, so TAP on those for a comment. On the right hand side you'll notice OTTIE's name come up a lot, so TAP on that. The game is trying to tell you to look for the ice shipments. Walk towards the furniture in the back and Roy will mention the water on the floor. What you need to do here is FOLLOW THE WATER TRAIL to the back of the warehouse. Once you get back there Roy will tell you to climb up the nearby ladder. Climb up the ladder and head to the left, to the crane operators platform. Now you can control the crane. Move the crane towards Roy (it has a light on it so you can tell where it is in relation to down below). See the room/structure on the left down below? That's a cold-storage room. We need to get in there. Use the crane to move the crate blocking the door (the crate is up against the wall, close to the ladder you came up). Just pick it up and exit the crane. Roy will tell you about the room now, so go back down the ladder. Roy will be inside of the cold room, so go in and check out the ice in the middle. There's clearly something frozen inside. Cole will take out his gun, so use it and shoot the ice block up. It'll eventually crack and you can check out the contents: army surplus morphine. You'll see a cutscene now of the Polar Bear ice company making ANOTHER shipment, DESPITE the fact that Jose is clearly being watched by a POLICE OFFICER. This will prompt Jose to punch the officer and make a run for it. =================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Apprehend Jose Ramez ===================================

He'll go hide in the furniture maze, and has a shotgun, so trail him and take him out. The coroner will pick him up and Cole will have ME and Tech Services come over to Ramez's place while we go Polar Bear hunting. ------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Polar Bear Ice Company ------------------------------------======================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Search Polar Bear Ice Co. ======================================== Head on over to the ice company now. A guy out front will tell you that the place is close, when Roy asks him how many janitors carry a gat. The man will reach for his weapon when HOLY COW ROY IS FAST! Cole and Roy will go into the place and see Lenny Finklestein, telling him to give up. He'll run while Cole and Roy shoot his guards. ========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Apprehend Lenny Finkelstein ========================================== We'll have a little gun-action now. Lenny is running through this place and we have to follow him. Follow SLOWLY though, as he has multiple guards left, each carrying a shotgun or automatic weapons. Use cover and wait for good shots or until they shoot first, then pop out and get them. There aren't any real surprises here, just 4-5 guys needing killed. At the end you'll go up some stairs and have a little cutscene with Lenny. Despite being cornered and outnumbered, he'd rather fight us, so RIGHT after the scene ends, pull out your gun and SHOOT HIM DEAD. Go open up the box in the back to end this case.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Set Up...........................................................[LA 2.15] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ More of Cole's past. And Sheldon's, too. A good flashback! Afterwards you'll be at a boxing venue with Roy. Roy seems to have $50 riding on this fight, and was assured that he was going to win. Turns out his guy didn't take the planned fall after all. This seems more of a "Roy Earle's personal problem" than an actually case, but here we area. May as well get on with it. After all of the initial scenes we'll have the following clues: =================================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Fighters' Dressing Rooms =================================================== --------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Albert Hammond ---------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Carlo Arquero -------------------------------------==================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Locate Albert Hammond ====================================

Roy will put an APB out on Albert "for his own protection". First off, go examine the nearby newspaper for another flashback. This one is .:NEWSPAPER: Alienist Fontaine:.. Well, now we know who the morphine robbers are. Next go check out Hammond's locker, next to the board. Here you'll find some bookmakers odds, giving us a clue and objective. --------------------------NEW CLUE!: Bookmaker's Odds --------------------------================================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Trace Telephone Number through R&I ================================================= You can also examine the open window and a couple of boxing gloves, but they are just herrings. We'll need to go make a phone call on the number now, but once you head outside you'll see a scene with Mickey Cohen. Cole will tell him to back off, lest he wants to be arrested. %@#$ that, let's just shoot him. Go to the nearby telephone and trace the number to a Hotel El Mar, giving us our only real lead. ======================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Hotel El Mar ======================================= Head on over there and talk to the front desk. He'll say that Hammond isn't registered here, but that hardly anyone uses their real names. He'll let us look at his books, but as you can see they are all celebrities. Roy will tell us to look for 'prominent Tommies' (British names), given that Hammond is British. Find 'Winston Churchhill' and tap on it. Room 207. Head up the stairs and room 207 will be staring you in the face. Head on it. Inside you'll find plenty of clues. Go over to the bed. On the right side you can pick up a cigarrette with lipstick (Albert has a lady-friend) and on the left side is some math showing some payouts. Seems like Albert won for himself and bet on it. -----------------------------NEW CLUE!: Bookmaker's Payouts -----------------------------Go check out the table next. You can look at the food (it's still warm) and the magazine. Look at the right-hand page and tap on the filled-out coupon. Candy Edwards. The lady friend, more than likely. -------------------------NEW CLUE!: Magazine Coupon --------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Candy Edwards

-------------------------------------================================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Candy Edwards' Address ================================================= After that, check out the dresser to the left. Check the ticket stub on the left for a clue and the candy if you want. ---------------------------NEW CLUE!: Movie Ticket Stub ---------------------------Lastly, check the turned-over waste basket nearby for a discarded telegram note. Looks like Albert's planning on going back home. ------------------NEW CLUE!: Telegram ------------------You'll get the 'all clear' music here. Time to follow up on our only lead: Candy Edwards. Head over to her address (a motel) and ask the clerk about her room. Apartment seven. Sounds like Carlo has been by here, too. Go outside, head up the stairs (to your left), and take a left to reach Apt. 7. You'll hear Carlo harassing you. Knock down the door and you'll see him knock out Candy, turning to you next. Time to box. As usual, dodge his one-two and lay into him. He's not that hard but can throw some fast jabs at times (he's no Albert Hammond). Once you knock him out you'll be free to investigate the room. Examine Carlo himself first. He's got two items in his pockets worth looking at. Glad he didn't use the knife! After that you can examine the suitcase on the bed and the makeup on the table if you wish, but they are herrings. The real clues are on the desk: a bus ticket and a flier for the Ascania. --------------------NEW CLUE!: Bus Ticket --------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Cunard Ascania ------------------------After looking at those the 'all clear' music will play and Candy will wake up (timely, no?) giving us a chance to interview her. ====================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Interview Candy Edwards ======================================

First, ask her about Albert. She'll say she hasn't seen him as she's over him. An obvious LIE, present the MAGAZINE COUPON. Apparently she was expecting him to fall too. Hmm.. Ask about the list of odds next. She'll say she doesn't know. She's a BAD liar though, as you can obviously tell. Call this a LIE and present the BETTING ODDS. Lastly, ask about her plans to leave town. She'll say she's going straight home, but looks oddly smug. Well, we don't really know if that's a lie, but call DOUBT here due to her smugness. Watch the next scenes. Roy will through Carlo out and we'll stake Candy out until she leaves. We'll gain control of Cole as Candy is leaving, but we'll be sitting on a bench with a newspaper incognito. ================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Tail Candy Edwards ================================= [Note: There is a trophy here called "The Moose" that you can obtain by not using cover or incognito.] Watch as she rounds the corner and walks away from you. She'll walk straight ahead to the distant street, but it's a fairly clear line of sight so you can afford to sit on the bench for quite awhile. When she's aways away, move up past the wall to the pickup truck. She'll stop at the sidewalk and eventually start walking to the right. Keep following her, using the small fence on the right as cover (you can also go incognito on the shoe polishing bench). She'll keep going past a building that you can actually climb up. From the building you can watch her walk across the street and rake another right. You can remain on the building and jump to a closer roof as well. Keep following her until she takes a left. If you're on the building, quickly turn 180 degrees around and use the ladder to get down. Use the house corners here and keep watching her, moving up whenever it's safe. Eventually she'll stop at a 'Thrifty Liquor'. We'll meet up with Roy now. Time to investigate the liquor store. ========================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Thrifty Liquor ========================================= Go inside and the bookie will tell you that Candy made a phone call, used the notepad, and left, saying she was being tailed. And we did so good! Go to the phone and use Cole's shading trick to see what Candy wrote. Once you trace it all, you'll get some more clues: --------------------------NEW CLUE!: Bookie's Notepad --------------------------============================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Examiner Drugstore

============================================= Go outside and drive over to the drugstore next. On the way there you'll get a call back about local bookies from dispatch, adding a new location to your list: ------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Ray's Bookmakers ------------------------------Once you're at the drugstore, talk to the owner and you'll learn Candy cleaned him out. He'll say she called a cab, so head over to the phone on the right and pick up the cab number. -----------------------------NEW CLUE!: Yellow Cab Co. Card -----------------------------================================ NEW OBJECTIVE: Locate Yellow Cab ================================ Use the telephone nearby to call the yellow cab company. Afterwards you can talk to the bookie for Ray's address (which we already have, I guess this is a second way to find it). Let's head there next. As you approach the scene you'll see the cab waiting for Candy. She'll come out soon, giving you the job of trailing the cab. =================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Trail Yellow Cab 179 =================================== Follow the cab from a distance until it finally stops at a bus depot, giving you a new objective. =============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Interstate Bus Depot =============================================== Head in and take a seat at the first chair, going incognito. Candy will go off to the left, and then come back and go through the door on the right. Soon you'll hear a gunshot. Run to the right door to see Candy bleeding out, her suitcase gone. Cole will try and get some info from her, but she's fading. Have Roy call an ambulance then examine the clues lying nearby. Grab the gun and take a look at it to see one shot fired (likely the murder weapon), then grab the handbag and open it to -------------------

NEW CLUE!: Revolver ------------------=========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Egyptian Theatre =========================================== Since Hammond escaped, our only real choice now is to go to the theatre (which is just up the street). As you get out at the theatre, you'll get a call from dispatch saying Candy died from a knife wound: the gun was hers! Go inside and you'll hear Carlo and Hammond arguing, Carlo trying to kill him. This will lead into a gun fight. Carlo isn't alone though, he's got two goons below you with weapons too. Focus on them first, getting some easy kills when they show themselves then move down to where they were. Down here is a better angel on the upper stands, so use it to take out Carlo (Roy will of course be helping as well). Once you have all three of them killed, enjoy the rest of the scenes that follow!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Manifest Destiny.....................................................[LA 2.16] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ More of Cole's personal back-story. You'll see why he's "no war hero". The captain will tell us there's been a shooting at the 111 Club and two of the dead guys were carrying Army surplus morphine. Yikes! Some judge out in Pasadena also died the other day and had TWENTY syrettes on him. We didn't get all of the morphine, that's for sure. ------------------NEW CLUE!: Morphine ------------------======================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate the 111 Club ======================================= Head on over to the 111 club. Once you get there, the officer will say homicide is already inside. Go in to see... Bekowsky!? Guess he's moved up too. Now here's the crazy part. There's three deaths here, and the club's owner was an ex-marine that Cole knew (he was in his unit) named Eddie McGoldrick! Oh and guess what, the other two stiffs, Bowe and Bittleston, were PART OF THE BAND that Lamont and Tyree were in! Crazy! ----------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Eddie McGoldrick --------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Bittleston --------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Bowe ----------------------------Wow. Ok, Bekowsky will look after the hostess while we look around. Check out the stiff right in front of you. Looks like a dozen rounds killed him. Geez. You can also check out Eddie's dead body, which is behind you and to the left in his office. There's also an open safe in here with plenty of money. Well, it wasn't a robbery. They probably just wanted him dead.

Go back into the room, past the hostess and to the left. Check out the case in the middle of the room. See those three small items to the lower right? Interact with all three of them (I did it from left to right) and a small compartment will pop open from the case. Inside is a spoon, band, syringe, and a ticket to the Blue Room. ------------------------NEW CLUE!: Blue Room Pass ------------------------======================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate The Blue Room ======================================== You can check out the last dead musician nearby, and then head into the room past him. Check out the carton there, which is clearly from the ship that was robed. Looks like Eddie got a cut of it. Also check out the contents of the carton. Cigarettes. Thousands of them. --------------------------NEW CLUE!: Valor Cigarettes --------------------------Go inspect the gun rack beyond that. Have Cole pick up a gun and inspect it. Army-issued BARs. Eddie's got a crate of cig's, army-issued BARs (THREE of them) and customers with Army surplus morphine... --------------NEW CLUE!: BARs --------------Roy will say we should head back to the station and check the details on what exactly was stolen from the ship (it looks like much more than morphine). --------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Hollywood Police Station --------------------------------------=========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Meet with Robbery Detectives =========================================== -------------------------NEW CLUE!: Coolridge Heist -------------------------Before we do anything, though, we should talk to the hostess. Go over to her and introduce yourself. ------------------------------------

NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: The Hostess -----------------------------------Ask her about the shooting incident. She'll say she has no idea, but glances off to the right every now and again. No proof against that, so hit DOUBT. Next ask about her knowledge of Eddie. She is straight-faced here, so hit TRUTH. Sounds like Eddie was dumb. With all of that out of the way, let's head to The Blue Room. Once you get there head inside both sets of doors to see a scene. Roy will get pissed off, so Cole tells him to have a drink while we interview this Elsa character. --------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Elsa Lichtmann --------------------------------------First ask her about the surplus morphine. She'll say she can't help us (and the musicians back her up). Now, Elsa keeps a very straight face: the ONLY tell she really has is that her left eyebrow will twitch from time to time. Call the first question into DOUBT. Elsa isn't threatened by you though, but the musician will tell you it's some white guy. Next ask about the victims. She'll once again say she has no idea, but looks quite sad afterwards. Call DOUBT again. She'll then have an argument of ideals with Cole afterwards. Roy will say we need to talk to Mickey Cohen, at The Mocambo Club, but Cole will tell him that he needs until tomorrow to be 'sure of something'. OK.... ------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Meyer Harris Cohen ------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: The Mocambo Club ------------------------------===================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Interview Mickey Cohen ===================================== And with that, we'll have to tail Elsa.

================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Tail Elsa Lichtmann ================================== Go ahead and follow her, not too close, not too far. She'll eventually stop at a very big, fancy building. Cole will follow her in... he looks very... guilty. I'm sure you can figure out what Cole, the MARRIED man, is most likely doing (just like I'm sure Roy has figured out).

After that scene, you'll automatically be at The Mocambo Club. Follow the waiter in and talk with Mickey and his friend Johnny (a fellow marine). -----------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Johnny Stompanato -----------------------------------------First ask Mickey about the Finkelstein drug operation. Apparently Lenny has 1/3rd of the stolen morphine shipment. Mickey will call that old news and say he had no idea. His tell is glancing slightly to the left from time to time. Call that into DOUBT. Next ask him about the 111 club shooting. Again, he knows nothing about it. Press DOUBT here too. Well, no new clues, but we do get an interesting little scene from Mickey afterwards. Looks like they DO have some of it, but need to get the rest of it, as the bodies are piling up. We'll go to the station automatically next, with a little talk about prostitution thrown in. We'll go in and see Captain Colmyer, who will tell us Caldwell and McManus are working the Coolridge theft case. Luck will have it that Caldwell is in the squad room. Time to go see him. Cole will tell Caldwell about the recovered smokes and BARs. Caldwell will let Cole look at the shipping manifest. Check out the manifest's right page and inger-tap on everything circled in red: morphine, cig's, BAR's, and Thompson's. All stolen. You'll get some updated clues and this new one: ------------------NEW CLUE!: Manifest ------------------Right then an officer will burst in, saying a man is spraying a bus with a tommy gun. Let's get down there! ======================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Attend Bus Stop Shooting ======================================= Once you get at the scene, it'll seem that a man is going crazy on a bus from a nearby room. Damn. You'll be dropped off at the front of the building, but don't try and take him out from here: you'll be torn to pieces. Instead, go around the building on the left side until you see a ladder. Climb up it and get on the roof. Stupid ass Cole will announce he's up there, so get into cover. The man will swing around and fire the auto at Cole, so after he's done that, aim at where he pops out at and land a couple of shots when he does it again. ======================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Search the Sniper's Body =======================================

Well, I wouldn't call him a 'sniper' but the game does... anyway, go over to the corpse and search him. Check his right pocket (your left) to find a note book. -----------------------------NEW CLUE!: Sniper's Pocketbook -----------------------------After that go check out his gun. Of course, one of the missing BARs. The scene will fade to black and then you'll have to interview the bus driver, another marine that you served with named Felix Alvarro. If you remember that gunman's book, it CLEARLY mentions Alvarro's name. Looks like he's lucky to be alive: someone is trying to kill him. -------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Felix Alvarro -------------------------------------First ask him about the heist on the Coolridge. He'll say that some cops came and interviewed him and everyone else on the ship. He'll look a little nervous afterwards, but we have no proof, so hit DOUBT. He won't give up much though. Next ask him about the motive for the shooting. He'll say he has no idea. Hit LIE here and present the SNIPERS POCKETBOOK. He'll say that Cohen thinks that they have the rest of the morphine and COURTNEY SHELDON is going to meet with him to sort it out. Oh, and JACK KELSO is in town. Fun. Looks like one big reunion. You'll get all these clues: ----------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Courtney Sheldon -------------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: 6th Marines -------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Jack Kelso ----------------------------------================================ NEW OBJECTIVE: Locate Jack Kelso ================================ [*Note: You should get the "The Fighting Sixth" trophy here as well.] Go over to the nearby phone and use it to find Jack's apartment. -------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Kelso's Apartment

-------------------------------=================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Interview Jack Kelso =================================== Ok, let's head on over there now. You'll catch Kelso coming home, so Cole will "ask" him to come down to the police station. Good cut scene! Once you're down at the station, you'll be able to interview Jack. Ask him about the army surplus of morphine first. He'll say it has nothing to do with him, but his eyes are lying. We have no proof though, so hit DOUBT here. Jack will say the mob and the vice squad have the morphine game rapped up. Next ask about McGoldrick. He'll say he didn't know that either, but looks truthful, so hit TRUTH. Ask about the arms stolen from the Coolridge. Again, he didn't know, again, TRUTH. Cole will pry for info, but Jack refuses to give him anything and brings up his "war hero" status. Ask about the robbery next. Jack will say he saved Cole's life THREE times, but doesn't know about the robbery. He'll look like he's about to crack though. Hit DOUBT here. There's some GOOD cutscenes next, and then another officer will tell us about ANOTHER shooting. ============================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Attend Robert's Diner Shooting ============================================= Ok, I swear we just need to kill Mickey, this is getting ridiculous. Head on over to the diner. You'll see two mobsters fleeing the scene and have to chase them down in your car. This chase isn't too hard, just keep on them and make careful turns. They'll get boxed in by some other police units and get trapped eventually, so get out and shoot them down. Afterwards the scene will be clear and you'll get a chance to investigate. ----------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Alleyway Crime Scene ----------------------------------Flip the first stiff over and check out both of his pockets. You'll see the meeting with Sheldon and you'll also see a COPY of the ships manifest naming all of the marines aboard. Damn. Someone sold/gave this to the mob no doubt. We'll get A LOT of information from this, including some people whose lives are in danger: ----------------------------NEW CLUE!: Shooter's Notebook ------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Copy of Manifest

--------------------------==================================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Grauman's Chinese Theatre ==================================================== ================================================ NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Hollywood Post Office ================================================ --------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Walter Beckett ------------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Michael Driscoll ----------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: John Higgins ----------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Patrick Connolly ----------------------------------------After THAT long list of things to do and man's gun (another BAR). You can't check BE SURE to pick up the newspaper nearby, one is .:NEWSPAPER: LAPD VICE SCANDAL:., Damn you, Roy! people to see you can check out the the other man for some reason, but as it's one of those rare ones. This and has some VERY interesting scenes.

Let's head over to the chinese theatre now. Once you get near it, you'll see a scene where a couple of mobsters gun down two of our marines and drive off. Pretty smooth, but we saw it. This is a car chase scene, so stay on them as Roy takes shots at them. The'll cut through a back yard and make some VERY tight turns, so be ready and be careful. Between Roy's shooting and your side-swipping you should be able to take them out. Be careful though, with their vehicle disabled they'll get out and start firing on you. Kill the driver ASAP, and then flank the passenger. Aww, no clues for us. Let's head over to the post office now. Once you get there, a big shootout between the mob and local cops will be in progress. What're you waitin' for!? Help them! You can take out two guys easy from the position you start from by waiting for them to pop out. After two are down, the other two will retreat behind the counter and everyone on your side will advance. Go with them and take cover in the middle area, where you can nail the other two easy. After the scene you'll be able to search the area. Go check out the body to your right first. Holy cow, he's still alive! Listen to what little the poor guy has to say. ------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Beckett's Confession

------------------------------THAT will be a nice clue to have no doubt. Check out his left hand as well for a business car for polar ice: -----------------------NEW CLUE!: Business Card -----------------------There's a door behind him leading to the back, but it has literally nothing for you to interact with. Instead, go behind you to another dead body (the other marine) and search his left coat pocket for a note. --------------NEW CLUE!: Note --------------================================================ NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate 1640 North Las Palmas ================================================ Well, all that's left is the meeting place. Looks like they are both going to square off against each other. Head there next. Or course, it's going to be shooting time by the time you get there. From the start there will be two people in front of you in an alleyway. The closer one is easy to peg, and the one further away will undoubtedly take cover somewhere. BE CAREFUL about moving towards that car in front of you, as there are shooters on the roofs to your right. PLUS, after a little while, ANOTHER car with two more people will come in from the right. You can probably kill the second "1st car" guy and the guy on the roof straight ahead easily enough, and than the "2nd car" driver easily enough as well. From there, just use cover (the left side of the first car is a good spot) and pick them off one by one. You can also get to the roofs from a nearby drainpipe and use the gangster's weapons. After the fighting a call will come in over dispatch saying they have a Courtney Sheldon in custody and he's asking for an interview with Cole. Time to head over to the station. =========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Courtney Sheldon =========================================== Once you get to the station, the irishman will pull Roy, telling Cole to do the interview solo. Head in and you'll find Shelton in a room on the right (past the first hallway). Dr. Fontaine will be there with him. Ask about the 6th Marines being targeted. He'll start giving himself away with his eyes. Press LIE here and present the NOTE. He'll say he is being

targeted, but he doesn't have the morphine. The doc will back him up (I didn't ask you, knucklehead!). Ask about the robbery next. He'll say he was on the ship but that doesn't prove anything. He has a SERIOUSLY straight face here that just screams "truth", but it ISN'T. You KNOW that. Say LIE and present BECKETT'S CONFESSION. Watch the many scene's that ensue. I'm sure you'll undoubtedly be taken aback.

.:| ARSON CASES! |:.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Gas Man..........................................................[LA 2.17] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Well, we've been made a sacrifice to keep the higher-ups out of the papers. What a shame. We've been demoted, of course, to the Arson Desk as well, with a new precinct in the Wilshire Division. Cole is up for a board review in December, by the way. We'll also naturally have a new partner: Herschel Biggs. Our case to chase down now will be two house fires. We're given the following info to start with: ============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Steffens House Fire ============================================== ============================================ NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Sawyer House Fire ============================================ Well, let's get going. Cole will try some small talk, but Biggs is having none of it. Let's go to the Steffens place first. On the scene Biggs will point out that the lassy is crying real tears, and it's probably not an insurance scam. We'll see a funny scene with the cop on duty as well. Poor Cole. This family didn't have any insurance anyways, and they were gone when it happened. ===================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Interview Mr. Steffens ===================================== You'll find Mr. Steffens inside the burnt out building go in and talk to him. ------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Don Steffens ------------------------------------First ask him about his trip. He'll tell you about how they won it. Press TRUTH here and he'll show you his travel voucher even. ----------------------------NEW CLUE!: Competition Ticket ----------------------------===================================================

NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Gulliver's Travel Agency =================================================== Next ask him about the re-development going on. He'll say that he didn't bargain with those people when most of his neighbors packed up and left. It can be hard to tell, but his eyes dart slightly from time to time, so press DOUBT here to learn he was holding out for more money, but this turn of events is pretty much making him settle... sound fishy? --------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Suburban Redevelopment --------------------------------======================================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Trace Address for Suburban Redevelopment ======================================================= You can explore the place if you like. There are a LOT of red herrings laying about. However, there is one clue to find: on the left hand side of the house is the Instaheat heater (by the fence). Check its service record: ------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Matthew Ryan ---------------------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Heater Serviced by Ryan ---------------------------------The 'all clear' music will play. Now let's go trace that address by the nearby phone. You'll get a new location with this phone call. ------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Suburban Redevelopment ------------------------------------Well, let's stick to this case for now and follow up on the ticket lead. Head on over to Gulliver's Travel Agency next. Go inside the place and you'll meet a John Cunningham who will show you his ledger for tickets and trips. ---------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: John Cunningham ---------------------------------------On the book, find the Steffen's family name and do the ol' finger-tap on it. Also, find the Sawyer family name and finger-tap it as well. Looks like they had tickets too, but canceled. Afterwards you can ask John a couple of questions. Start off with the suburban redevelopment fund. He'll say they ran a promotion through them covering half of L.A.. He's straight-laced, so hit TRUTH here.

Next ask about the promotion. He'll say there's hundreds of promotions running at a time at times. He's not so straight-laced this time, so hit DOUBT here. He'll say that there's SUPPOSED to be a supervised drawing, but the reality is the suburban redevelopment just calls him and tells him who won. How shady! Well, let's just go pay them a visit, eh? When you go to check them out, the location will change to the one below: ---------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Elysian Fields Development Site ---------------------------------------------There is literally nothing to do at this address now. You can go inside the little building on the left and pick up a note and Cole will tell himself that the 'Redevelopment Project' foots the bills why 'Elysian' builds the houses, but that's about it (no clues). Time to go check out the second burnt house, the Sawyer family. Once you get there you'll meet the fire chief, Albert Lynch. He'll say that it looks like a water heater explosion, and it killed the whole family of four while they were asleep in their beds. Tragic. You can check out the family on the mats to the left, as well as talk to Mal about your personal problems. Well, we can rule out insurance fraud in this case. -------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Sawyer Family -------------------------------------There's hardly anything to check here: the house is full of red herrings. The only thing you CAN check here is a valve in the clearing, on your way to the fire truck on the right side on the house. -------------------------NEW CLUE!: Regulator Valve -------------------------Cole will show it to Biggs and the chief. One of the officers will then bring in a neighbor, Joanna Alford, to talk to you. -------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Joanna Alford -------------------------------------She'll say that the family had won a trip from Gulliver's Travel and were supposed to be gone, but one of the kids got sick and they had to cancel. More fishiness. However, at this exact second Lynch will point out an

on-looker from across the street and will say he likes fires... go get him! This isn't a hard chase, although it does take some good cuts on your part to get near him so you can tackle him. If you can't, you'll just end up fighting him. Either way, after it's over you'll be back at the house. ---------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Herbert Chapman ---------------------------------------Cole will have him turn out his pockets, producing a cigarette and a book of matches, which Lynch points out is a way to delay a fire. He'll say he didn't light the fire, but wanted to see it. The officers will take him in in case we want to question him later. The fire chief will than tell us to meet him at the fire station: he has a theory. --------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Fire Station No.32 --------------------------------============================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Fire Station No.32 ============================================= Ok, well let's head over to the fire house. We don't have any other leads right now anyways. When you get there you can hop in the fire truck if you haven't been in one yet (for the car trophy), and then see the chief. He'll show you the Sawyer Family water heater, noting that its been serviced recently. ----------------------------NEW CLUE!: InstaHeat Model 70 -------------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Reginald Varley --------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Heater serviced by Varley -----------------------------------We'll than have to solve a puzzle so Lynch can demonstrate his theory. You'll have three items below that you need to pick up and place in the three spots up above (to create a chain). 1. Pick up the first item on the left and put in next to the burner (on the right). 2. Pick up the middle item and place it in the middle.

3. Pick up the right item and put it in the last slot. After that, turn the gas on. The valve for it is on the very left. BOOM! Lynch will think that it COULD be a problem with the regulators, and gives you the InstaHeat address to go ask. ============================================ NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate InstaHeat Factory ============================================ Time to head over to InstaHeat. Follow Biggs inside. You can check out the display when you get in and you can also listen to a report about yourself on the radio. To the left is a scene with the secretary. She'll tell us to speak to the manager. ----------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Ivan Rasic ----------------------------------Do a 180 and go through the door. The managers office is straight ahead. Go in and he'll look at the regulator, saying its been tampered with. Uh-oh. You'll get to ask him some questions now. Start with the InstaHeat Model 70. He'll say that he doesn't think there's anything inherently wrong with the design. Notice him flinch and his adam's apple move? Press DOUBT here. You'll get a "they're not all faulty" response, as well as a clue. --------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Ivan Rasic's Statement --------------------------------Next ask about the model's history. He'll say the rubber lasts quite a few years and then perishes. Cole will then ask if everyone working on them is licensed. He'll say of course! His eyes are saying he's lying though... Call out a LIE here and show him the RYAN HEATER. He'll say that Ryan was a former criminal who did his time (well shit, I was just saying he didn't check the heater good enough!). Ivan will give you a list of all the installers he has. -----------------------------NEW CLUE!: List of Gas Fitters -----------------------------Cole will get up now to have R&I cross-reference the list for criminals. Use the phone right in front of you. Cole will rattle off all the names to R&I. Three of them will come back with some sort of record: Clemens, Ryan, and Varley. Sheesh!

----------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Clemens' Criminal Record ------------------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Ryan's Criminal Record ------------------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Varley's Criminal Record ----------------------------------Cole will then have Ivan give him where each of these guys is working at right now: ======================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Interview Walter Clemens ======================================= ======================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Interrogate Matthew Ryan ======================================= ========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Interrogate Reginald Varley ========================================== Cole will then have Ivan take him to his employees lockers (with Biggs backing you up!? Wow!). Inspect the lockers from left to right, investigating all of them. Each one will have something in if for you to look at. Make sure you get these clues before preceding: -------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Clemens' Anarchist Pamphlet -------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Ryan's Anarchist Pamphlets ------------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Mosquito Coils ------------------------You'll get the 'all clear' music afterwards. Well, we have three people to check with. As you walk out of the factory, you'll see a scene of a man approaching a worksite. Ok, let's go to Clemens first. Cole and Biggs will push him a bit, then ask him for answers. First ask about Varley. He'll say that he doesn't know him. Well, that's a lie, they are co-workers. We can't prove it though, so hit DOUBT here (you'd think the co-worker list should do the lie bit justice,

but the "prove me wrong" question that comes afterwards is un-related). He'll say that Varley sometimes gets kickbacks from some developer. -----------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Walter Clemens' Statement -----------------------------------Next ask him about his employment. He'll look genuinely confused here. Hit DOUBT again. He'll explain why the arson is on his record, gaining Biggs' approval. Lastly ask about his knowledge of Ryan. He'll say he doesn't know him. Call the LIE and use the CLEMENS ANARCHIST PAMPHLET. He'll say that Ryan gave it to him, and he's always pushing that shit around. Ok, let's go to the Varley worksite. On the way there, Biggs will admit it's been a long time since he had to use his weapon. Once you're at the site, Varley will take off running (since dumb-ass Cole announces his cop status right away). Chase after him. You'll have your gun out, giving you a chance to put a bead on him. Honestly, the best time to try it is after he cuts the corner of a house and you make the same cut, then put it on him to catch him. He may or may not be our guy, but the Detroit PD probably want him regardless. Next go to the Ryan's worksite. This will result in a chase, where you'll have to take out Ryan's InstaHeat truck. He'll drive through some construction scenes (and lead us over a jump) as well as cut through some yards (watch out for pedestrians). Keep on him and let Biggs shoot out the tires (smack his wheel wells) until you can apprehend the guy. An officer will take him in. Now as you've probably guessed, we need to go back to the station and interview both suspects. This is one of those cases where you'll have two people but you'll need to pick one to charge. Head on in to the station. The desk officer will give Cole a rough time but it looks like Biggs is backing us up now. Head to the right and take that left to reach interview room 2. Varley is in here, so let's drill him. First ask about his work at the Sawyer Residence. He'll say he does just new installations. Bullshit, he serviced that thing. Call LIE here and present the HEATER SERVICED BY VARLEY. He'll say that suburban wanted Sawyer out, and gave him a free heater servicing... ok... Ask about the suburban redevelopment. He'll look smug, saying he has principles. Clemens told us about it though, so call a LIE here and present WALTER CLEMENS STATEMENT. He'll say that lots of people took their "hurry up" money though. Finally ask about the InstaHead Model 70. He'll say he didn't sabotage the thing, but look guilty as hell. Call a LIE here and present the MOSQUITO COILS. He'll say he was HOLDING them for Ryan. DON'T CHARGE VARLEY, we want to leave and go check out RYAN. Go to interview room 1 now. It's by the main entrance you came in (it took me

awhile to find it!). Start off by asking him about the anarchist pamphlets. He'll of course feign ignorance. Call a LIE here and present RYANS ANARCHIST PAMPHLETS. He'll express dissatisfaction at the way InstaHeat operates. Next ask about the InstaHeat model 70. This one threw me for a loop, but call it a LIE and present IVAN RASICS STATEMENT. Next ask about the suburban redevelopment. He'll look guilty here, but we have no proof, so call DOUBT. He'll say that it's Varley's bilk. We'll get a new clue here as well: ----------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Matthew Ryan's Statement ----------------------------------Ask about the murder charge last. He'll look almost sad here. Call DOUBT again. Apparently he lost his whole family, and the company, Hesphaistos Water Heater Company, the same company that InstaHeat bought out...

Ok, we'll have to charge one of the two of these guys now. So... Whodunit?! If you want a 5-star case, charge RYAN. Good job! If you want a 3-star case, and a subsequent ass-chewing from the Captain, charge VARLEY.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ A Walk in Elysian Fields.............................................[LA 2.18] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ More of Cole's past. Getting harder and harder to like such a wound-up guy.

Captain McKelty will give us a new case: house fire on 650 North Hobart. Bad one, four vics. Yikes! Guess we better go check it out. -------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Arson Victims -------------------------------------================================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Residential House Fire ================================================= Once you get on the scene, follow Malcolm to the bodies an.. OH MY GOD! DAMN! That is not a pretty scene. Lynch will tell you his ideas on how this came to be. --------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Morelli House Fire

------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Bodies Moved ----------------------You can check out the bodies as well as look at an intact photograph directly behind you. Do both to see another scene. Cole will talk about some interesting theories. ---------------------------NEW CLUE!: Family Photograph ---------------------------Biggs will freak out here, so follow him. He'll say that he wants this guy DEAD. Can't blame him. Tunrs out the Morelli's were on the list of "winners" as well (Cole has a good memory). Biggs will say we need to ask around, giving us a new objective. ================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Interview Neighbor ================================= On your way to the neighbor, you'll get a clue signal by the nearby tree. Inspect it to find some cigarette butts and some boot prints (be sure to move the cigarette around until you get the clue!) -------------------------NEW CLUE!: Cigarette Butts ----------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Boot Prints ---------------------Go talk to the neighbor now. Right away he'll give you a clue, saying they won a weekend away (like we didn't know that). ----------------------NEW CLUE!: Weekend Away -----------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Dudley Forman -------------------------------------Ask Dudley about witnessing the fire. He'll cut you off saying he was asleep. His left eyebrow plays games though, so hit DOUBT here. He'll tell you that Morelli should have sold to make way for new houses.

---------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Houses to be Demolished ---------------------------------Next ask about any suspicious activity. He'll look like he's honest (he's hard to read here), but trust me, hit DOUBT. He'll remember a guy who was hanging around, giving us our smoking man. -----------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Smoking Man -----------------------------------Ask about the demolitions. The Elysian Fields are offering to buy the houses in the area. When Cole asks about the Morelli's selling, he'll say he doesn't know. He looks suspicious. Hit DOUBT here to learn of Morelli's decision. -------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Monroe? -------------------------------Next ask about the travel contest. He'll say that he doesn't know who ran the competition. Hit TRUTH here. We already know though. He'll get us the flyer. In the meantime Biggs will come over with an origami crane he found. Cole will take a look at it and unfold it, revealing the following: -----------------NEW CLUE!: Origami ------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Elysian Fields Flyers -------------------------------============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Trace Address on Elysian Fields ============================================== --------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Elysian Fields (?) --------------------------------[Note: You can also inspect this neighbor's shoes!] Head over to the nearby phone on the map to update some of these clues, giving us an objective. You'll also get a SEVERE warning from the captain. Seems like he doesn't want to ruffle any feathers. ----------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Elysian Fields ----------------------------=========================================

NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Elysian Fields ========================================= Biggs will tell us that we should go investigate Rancho Escondido, giving us another objective. =========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Rancho Escondido =========================================== DON'T RUN OFF YET THOUGH! If you haven't explored the rest of the house and yard be sure to stick around. The rest of the house is full of herrings. You can go down into the flooded basement though for some color commentary if you wish. By the rightside of the house is one of those rare newspapers though, showcasing that fuck Dr. Fontaine. This one is .:NEWSPAPER: Housing Development Burns:., and it looks like it showcases our arsonist. Murderer... From there go north and investigate the water heater. Same model as Sawyer's, serviced by Reginald Varsey... ----------------------NEW CLUE!: Water Heater ----------------------Ok, with that out of the way let's head to Rancho Escondido. Once you get on the scene, you'll have to help the officers disperse a riot, which means fighting two guys in a row, one at a time. =========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Rancho Escondido =========================================== Dodge the punches and counter. Neither of these guys is very hard (in fact the second one is old as mud). You should be seriously ashamed if you lose this. Afterwards you'll be able to investigate with Biggs. Follow him over to the nearby building and you'll get the clue rattle. Cole will pull a brick out from the house. Seems like poor construction. Biggs will point out that they are also no wall ties. Looks like Elysian is building cheap. -----------------------------NEW CLUE!: Poor Cement Quality -----------------------------Time to head over there. Thank god we got the 'all clear' music; I'd hate to have to examine ALL those buildings... Enter the Elysian Fields office. Deal with this first secretary, then walk up the stairs after Biggs and deal with the second. After dealing with the two

bitches, you can go see Mr. Monroe. We'll get a chance to interview him now. First ask about everywhere (and say press DOUBT suspicious that the Elysian link to the arsons. He'll say he advertises he does). This guy can be HARD to read, so trust me when I here. He may have flier everywhere, but it's undoubtedly THREE non-sellers haver burned...

Next ask about the travel contest. He'll say he's not familiar with it. He's easier to read here as his eyes dart back and forth and he gulps every now and again. Press LIE here and present the ELYSIAN FIELDS FLYERS. Hard to deny... He'll get a little lipy afterwards. [*Note: This will get you the "Huckster" trophy.] Next ask about the land acquisitions. He'll say that he'd just work around any hold-outs. He's doing some weird stuff with his arms though (it looks like he's about to burst out laughing). Press DOUBT here. He'll again say he'd build around them. Lastly ask about the regulations. The man and present the POOR inspected. Sure they Rancho Escondido fire. Cole will ask if he's meeting will look doubtful here, and you know he's lying. Hit LIE CEMENT QUALITY. He'll say that they were all insured and were...

Monroe will ask us if we have any suspects, and then will give us a list of his flyer distributor contractors. He'll also subtly threaten Biggs about his pension. Go over to the secretary's desk and check out the list. You could finger-tap everyone, but remember CHAPMAN? The first suspect we caught in the last case? He's on this list! -----------------------------NEW CLUE!: List of Contractors --------------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Herbert Chapman ---------------------------------------================================================ NEW OBJECTIVE: Trace Address for Herbert Chapman ================================================ Go down the stairs and you'll see a phone icon. It's through the right-hand doors, so go in and use the telephone. You'll find out that Chapman was released this morning. Heh, Damn! She'll say that she'll give you an APB for an address soon. You'll be at the club next. Watch the next few scenes. Looks like Roy isn't nearly done being an asshole. Looks like Cole is hitting too close to home for the higher-ups liking. Fuck 'em.

Once you get out to the car, dispatch will call in Chapman's address. Head over there, learning that Biggs knows Jack Kelso on the way, as he's an insurance agent for California Fire and Life. Ah... Once you get there you'll learn that Chapman is out. However, his car is parked nearby. May as well look in it. Open up the trunk and inspect all three of the items in there (going further/pressing 'X' if necessary). ------------------------NEW CLUE!: Mosquito Coils --------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: .45 Caliber Ammunition --------------------------------After you view all three of those items, Biggs will spot Chapman coming out of the nearby laundromat. Chapman will see us, pull out his gun, and jump into a passing trolley. ======================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Apprehend Herbert Chapman ======================================== Your goal here is to chase and disable the trolley. This isn't like your normal chase and disable mission though. Just follow the trolley as it barrels into car after car... Take some side swipes at it from time to time but ONLY if it's safe to do so (the left-side of the trolley often has traffic parked up ahead after all). Biggs will call in other squad cars to help. As the trolley racks up the car hits and you swipe it, you'll see a hub come off the side of it (it was the left side for me). From this point on, just get Biggs close and he'll do some shooting, eventually spinning the trolley and stopping it. Chapman will get out on the far side, and will be armed. This is your cue (and chance) to flank him and kill him. Be careful, his .45 packs a punch, and one shot is enough to send you to the grey screen... Afterwards watch the many scenes that follow. I laughed at the Nixon comment. The Elsa scene is also very story-telling. We could definitely use Jack's help looking into the arsons...

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ House of Sticks......................................................[LA 2.19] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ None of Cole's back-history for you... In fact, no Cole at all! You'll be playing as Jack Kelso for this case, investigating on behalf of Elsa, your client. Once Elsa comes in and rejects the settlement you'll get these clues: ====================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Deal with Female Client ====================================== ---------------------------NEW CLUE!: Settlement Letter -----------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Elsa Lichtmann

----------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Lou Buchwalter --------------------------------------Else will ask you to investigate this case as she thinks Lou was the victim of foul play. Jack will pull out the case file. Take a look at it. You can flip over the paper on the right to read what exactly happened to Lou. ------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Buchwalter Case File ---------------------------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Elysian Fields Site ---------------------------------You'll have a chance to ask her some questions now. First ask about the disputed claim. She'll say Lou was a craftsman... and glance down to her very exposed cleavage... ok, press DOUBT here. She'll reaffirm she doesn't want the money and something's wrong with the house. Next ask about the connection to Buchwalter. She'll do the glancing game again, so press DOUBT once more. She'll say they were together for four years at Ellis Island, the children of dead Nazi parents. Ask about her motive for the dispute. She'll say she wants the house investigated. Hit TRUTH here to learn more. Jack will be... swayed... by Elsa. A secretary will then come in and say that a Mr. Benson wants to see us. =========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Visit Curtis Benson's Office =========================================== Follow the secretary and watch the scenes as Jack talks to his boss. You'll get a new objective afterwards: ============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Elysian Fields Site ============================================== Once you get to the site, head into the office. That's right, no knocking. Check the nearby desk for an item delivery list (Kelso will recognize they are cutting corners right away). ---------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Cement Delivery Receipt ----------------------------------

Go over to the next desk now and grab some items over there. --------------------------NEW CLUE!: Demolition Order ------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Company Memo ----------------------Interesting. You'll hear the 'all clear' music now. Head outside and the manager will give you trouble, not only refusing to help you but trying to actively fight you! Give him a good one-two to beat some info out of him (he's super easy). ------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Demolished House ------------------------------======================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Accident Site ======================================== Head on over to the accident site nearby. By the broken-down house there'll be four red flags. The one you need to look at is in the very back. Once you get back here, have Kelso interact with the broken pieces of wood. What you need to co here is pick up the very bottom piece of wood and piece it together with the left piece of wood. This will display a film companies name: ---------------------NEW CLUE!: Broken Wood ------------------------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Keystone Film Studios (?) ---------------------------------------Be prepared to run afterwards! The manager will get in a nearby bulldozer and start to chase you down a canal. You need to run (obviously), but what you REALLY need to do here is shoot at him when you can (which slows him down). I'd only shoot at him when you are on top of a structure (hitting aim will spin you around in semi-auto mode). He'll lift the dozer to shield himself which also makes him slower. I can also personally attest that you CAN get in a headshot if you're fast, ending the scene (I have no idea if Kelso killed him or not as the game is vague about it). You'll get an objective when the chase ends: ==============================================

NEW OBJECTIVE: Trace Address of Keystone Films ============================================== Anyways, go across the street and use the phone to trace the film studio's address: -----------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Keystone Film Studios -----------------------------------========================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Keystone Films ========================================= Head on over there next. Talk to the guard who will "let" you in, saying that the studio is getting tore down by Elysian. Hop the fence and head in. There's a lot of cool-looking stuff here, but you can't interact with it. Keep going until there's an opening into a viewing room on the left. Enter it. There's a few herrings here, but pick up the film reel on the small desk to the right. -----------------------NEW CLUE!: Film Canister -----------------------Next, go interact with the suitcase thing in the middle of the room. You'll soon find out this is a reel player. It'll start playing the reel from the empty film canister you found, but it'll be off. You'll have to play with the buttons on the machine to make it work! The TOP button controls the focus, so play with in until you can see the people without and doubles. The MIDDLE button controls the audio/film speed. Set it so they people are talking at a normal pace. When you've done those two things, flip the BOTTOM switch. Watch the film reel to gain a little insight. Jack will tell himself that he needs to find a phone. --------------NEW CLUE!: Film --------------=============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Telephone Curtis Benson's Office =============================================== The closest phone is in the guard shack, but before you do that, go check out the piles of wood on the lot that are, incidentally, to the LEFT of the guard shack as you head back (jump the fence you crossed earlier and then jump the fence to the right; alternatively you could just walk around the building on the left to get over there). Over here, examine the piles of lumber nearest to the jump-able fence carefully and you'll find the following clues, detailing the poor quality lumber and the tie to Elysian.

---------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Lumber Delivery Receipt ------------------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Inferior Quality Lumber ---------------------------------Interesting. Go use the phone in the guard house now. Stupid-ass Jack will actually call Mr. Benson, and then call Elsa. Watch the scene's and you'll be left with a new objective: ================================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Elysian Fields Site Two ================================================== Head on over to the new location. Jack won't be able to get into the main gate, but will see a house nearby with flickering lights, and like a small insect he must go investigate them! -------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Elysian Fields Site Two -------------------------------------Head into the house. You can explore some of the shoddy work here, but eventually you want to go upstairs into the light-flickering room. This will trigger a scene leading into a fist fight, and I hate to break it to you guys but you CAN'T WIN this fight. Sure, go ahead and knock out one guy, but you will be overwhelmed (3 on 1 isn't fair anyways). Watch the next couple of scenes and when you regain control you'll have a new objective: =============================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Get in a Vehicle =============================== Conveniently there will be a red vehicle drive up right in front of you! Grab it. You'll now have to escape your pursuers while driving to Esla's place. ------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Elsa's Apartment ------------------------------============================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Escape Pursuers ==============================

This can be a daunting task, especially if you haven't been driving much. As the game will tell you, the secret is to cut into back alleyways and streets. Sharp cuts will ALWAYS help, so keep an eye on the minimap for upcoming small streets or even lots you could cut and cut into them at the last possible second. After that GUN the gas, get some distance, and cut down another alley. This will soon get them off your tracks. REMEMBER not to cause too much chaos and destruction though, we still want that 5-Star rating! Once you loose them, you're free to get to Esla's. ====================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Get to Elsa's Apartment ====================================== Once you get there enjoy the scene. What a nice reunion...

We'll get our first objective once Jack is fully clothed, and it's exactly what you would expect: ======================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Pay Curtis Benson a Visit ======================================== We're a DA investigator now, by the way, and have clues directly related to Elysian Fields carried over from the last case. Head out of the house and make your way over to Benson's place. Once you're there you can take a look at the mailboxes to see he lives in Apt. 2. Go up and watch the scene. After a much-needed backhand you'll be able to explore. Directly behind Benson are two pieces of evidence you need. To the left on the desk is some insurance paperwork: -----------------------------NEW CLUE!: Insurance Agreement -----------------------------And to the right on the table is some shares in a folder: ---------------------------NEW CLUE!: Share Certificate ---------------------------You'll hear the 'all clear' music now. Before interviewing him though, go kick open the doors by the fireplace... what you'll see is just... wrong. Now go interview Benson. First ask him about his motive for fraud. He'll say it's simply business but looks nervous. Call out the LIE here present the SHARE CERTIFICATE. Hmm, all because he's not president...

Ask about the suburban redevelopment next. He'll say it's all about putting up new homes. Call a LIE here (he does the eye thing again) and present the INSURANCE AGREEMENT. He'll say they'd only get replacement cost. Pshaw, that's still fraud, especially when they cost shit to build. Lastly ask about the Buchwalter case. He'll look like he's lying again, but we can't prove it so call DOUBT here. Well, unfortunately there's no more beating Mr. Benson, so we'll have to move on. Our next objective will pop up after the interview. ================================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate California Fire & Life ================================================= Head on over to your old job site. When you stroll in Jack will casually tell security he's headed to his office. They'll tell you to take the elevator (its in the back) and enter the first door on the right. Enter your office and take a look again at Lou's case file. First, tap at the location coordinates on the blue left page at the top. Next, tap on the bottom dollar amount on the right hand page ($900). This should net you a couple of clues: ------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Buchwalter Case File -----------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Improved Land Value -----------------------------After that you'll see a scene where Cole and Jack finally level. It's about time! You'll automatically be dropped off at the Hall of Records afterwards. Head in and the guard will tell you to go up the stairs to find the land registry office. Head up there and go to the left, following the signs. Once you're up there, the clerk will show you to the "S" section. Flip the page to the left once and you'll find the "Suburban Redevelopment Fund" list of members. Tape on "Courtney Sheldon" here. ----------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Courtney Sheldon ----------------------------------------Next, Jack will tell the man he wants to find an address. Since he only has the latitude/longitude, the clerk will take Jack to a machine that shows the lots based on those measurements. What you need to do here is turn the dials with your left and right stick until you get to:

34 degrees, 4 minutes, 29 seconds 118 degrees, 17 minutes, 58 seconds The dials are ALREADY PRETTY CLOSE to your destination, just go to the north west a bit. ------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Elysian lot number 1876988 ------------------------------------After that, you'll have to follow the clerk to the adding maching and do some simple math. Punch in: 1876988 "DIVIDED BY" 90000 [If you don't know what "divided by" is on a calculator, I'm sorry. Go back to school, please!] That'll give you "20". The clerk will tell you that you need to add "1" onto that as they start with 0, so "21". So, our lot is under the 21st letter of the alphabet. And before you go counting it out, I already did. Go to secion: "U" It's to the right. Go pull out the book and see what the property is worth. After that, some of Monroe's thugs will waltz in, putting you in a fire fight. There'll be three thugs when you regain control. Quickly head to your left and kill the thug by the door (he has a pistol). Why do that quickly? Another thug with a shotty will sometimes try to sneak up on you from the right! You can easily wait for him now and pick him off. Pick up the shotgun and waste the last thug in the room who has a machine gun. There should be one more thug outside the room, so seek him out and kill him too. With all of them dead, Jack will have a little conversation with Courtney, finding out about the morphine and his (and Fontaine's) involvement. You'll then be dropped off at Jack's apartment, with his telephone ringing and some new screen displays: -------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Dr. Harlan Fontaine -------------------------------------------=================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Answer the Telephone =================================== Go ahead and answer the phone. It's Mr. Monroe. He wants to meet with you tonight at 9. And TOTALLY not because he wants to KILL you. No way... Afterwards, you'll be dropped outside with three new screen displays and a new objective to meet Mr. Monroe.

-------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Leland Monroe --------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Leland Monroe's Mansion -------------------------------------================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Meet Leland Monroe ================================= Well, may as well go see the old fart. Be prepared for a battle, because as soon as you get there you'll see Jack meet up with three of his marine buddies. We're going to storm the mansion in teams of two. The area you start in is a big hedge-maze. You and one other marine will take the right side while two of your buddies sweep the left. Get a kill shot on the nearby guard and move up. You can use the hedges for cover here, and your teammates will really hold their own, so try and cap guys who aren't paying attention to you and be sure to grab their weapons as you advance. Clearing your way to the mansion is pretty easy with three other marines. Once you get there, go to where the marine is boxing the door and kick it in but DON'T go in. Instead take cover outside. You'll see why soon as two men pop out from the left and right and try to shoot you, so take them out from cover with your buddy. Head in and grab the shotty. Kick in the left door and shoot the man in here. Past the next door is a little scene where Jack doesn't read the situation right... and pays for it. Kick in the next two doors and take out the guy on the left. He'll be joined by another guy with a shotgun, so use cover on the door frame if you need to. Grab the shotgun and walk BACKWARDS to the stairs up ahead. You'll see two men above, so take them out with a few good shotgun blasts. Head upstairs and follow the path to Monroe's office, where Jack will give him two persuasive opening offers. ============================================ NEW OBJECTIVE: Search Leland Monroe's Office ============================================ Well, Leland shouldn't have pissed off a bunch of soldiers, huh!? Check the safe by Leland for some very interesting items. Looks like Roy had Fontaine under wraps just in case. After that, check Leland's desk for a list of all the hold-out houses. Behind the desk is a rare newspaper. This one is .:NEWSPAPER: Suburban Redevelopment:.. Man, Courtney is an idiot. How sad. Also check the photograph by the newspaper. Enjoy the follow up scenes. This case is over.

[*Note: You should get the trophy "Shamus To The Stars" now, IF you did all the cases with a 5-Star rating.]

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ A Different Kind of War..............................................[LA 2.21] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ So here we are, on the last case of the game. Well, the last story case anyways. We'll see a scene between Elsa, Fontaine, and the bug-sprayer. I have no idea why Elsa would put herself in danger like that...

We'll than have control over Jack again. He's got a list of bug-spraying companies and is bound and determined to find Elsa. Here's the information that we'll have at the beginning of this case: ---------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Rapid Exterminators ---------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Nuclear Bug & Rodent Control -----------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Westlake Pest Control ------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Arson Suspect -------------------------------------============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Identify 'Bug Sprayer' Arsonist ============================================== ================================================ NEW OBJECTIVE: Track Down 'Bug Sprayer' Arsonist ================================================ Well, we got our work cut out for us, so let's get down to it. Head on over to 'rapid exterminators'. Head in and Jack will question the counter man. After being shot down, pick up the newspaper right in front of you. This one is .:'CRUSADE AGAINST CORRUPTION':.. A good cutscene. Next head over to Nuclear Bug. The man will say it's just him and two mexicans working there. Not much help. Head over to the Westlake Pest shop and Jack will FINALLY get what he's looking for. After that, you'll see a scene where good ol' Rusty calls Cole up to tell him about a dead Fontaine. He'll also tell Cole that some big Boris Karloff type guy carried Elsa off. We'll be in control of Cole now, by the way, with the following information: ----------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Doctor Harlan Fontaine ----------------------------------------------======================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Murder Scene ======================================= Head into the house with Rusty. On the way in, check out the cabinet in the room right before Fontaine's office to find a TON of morphine.

[*Note: You'll also get the "Magpie" trophy right about now if you've been collecting all the clues that you can.] --------------------------NEW CLUE!: Morphine Cabinet --------------------------Head into the office now. On the desk to your right (right past the door) is a file worth investigating, shedding some history on our arson suspect and what Fontaine is using him for. -------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Fontaine's Blackmail Papers -------------------------------------Next, go check out the crystal ball. Be sure to zoom in on the blood. ----------------------NEW CLUE!: Crystal Ball ----------------------You can check out Fontaine's corpse as well for some color commentary, but it won't help much. Be SURE to check his desk though. You'll find the LAST newspaper there: .:NEWSPAPER: "The Face of Progress":.. Next check out the papers near the front of the desk. Do Cole's famous shading trick to see a line drawn on the map. Next, interact with the two remaining pieces of paper on the desk to have Cole figure out that it's NOT an insurance scam... it's a "eminent domain" scam to have the government pay for improved land values and matchstick houses. -----------------------NEW CLUE!: Freeway Route -----------------------Everything depends on catching the firebug. We'll take over Jack now as he gets to the cowboy's house. ======================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Rancho Rincon ======================================== [*Note: There IS a golden film reel on the right porch. Be sure to grab it at some point.] Walk into the house and right away on the table to the right is a flamethrower that you need to pick up.

----------------------NEW CLUE!: Flamethrower ----------------------The rest of the house is mostly filled with herrings. What you want to do is go to the room filled with origami cranes. Here on the wall you'll see a photo that the man has framed up showing his squad at Okinawa (Phelps included). --------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Photographs of Okinawa --------------------------------Also, be sure to check the desk to the left of the picture for an origami crane that you can pick up. There's also a map of the L.A. River Tunnel system nearby that you need to look at. You'll get a couple more clues here: ------------------------NEW CLUE!: Origami Cranes --------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: L.A. River Tunnels (?) --------------------------------You'll see Jack call in backup here, including a message to Cole. Watch the scenes and you'll eventually be in control of Cole again with these new objectives: ======================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Reach L.A. River Tunnels ======================================= ====================================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Escort Jack Kelso to L.A. River Tunnels ====================================================== The goal here is to FOLLOW Jack (the white car) while keeping the red cars off of his back. He's obviously headed to the river tunnels in search of our arson suspect. On the way there, the chief of police will send car after car after you. Do your best to protect Jack as you go, side-swipping cars or even just going slow in front of other red cars to protect Jack. On the may many cars will join in, so do your best to crash into them when they spawn. After a fairly short drive you'll be at the tunnels. Once you get there you'll be in control of Jack. Head in and to the right. There will be FOUR men to greet you, so use cover and take them out one by one. Move up but DON'T try to go down the right path that leads back outside. You'll be automatically killed if you do. Instead move up, waste one more guy,

and go down the LEFT tunnel. Head down the tunnel and take the first left, dropping down into the water. Kill the guy in front of you and drop down again. Watch out up ahead as a guy is coming down the ladder (an easy kill). Go up the ladder and get ready for another guy on the left. That room to the left is an armory you can stock up in, so grab your favorite weapon and keep going. Head further in, killing two more guys in the pipe area. Up ahead you'll see a man roasted to death. Yikes! Head over the bridge and into the LARGE room. Here take cover by the plating and take out the enemies across the way and down below (there's about four of them). From here, head right and you'll see a way down below. There's three enemies in this tiny hallway, but there's a cover point on the left so use it and kill them all. The room straight ahead has more weapons in it, INCLUDING A FLAME THROWER!!! Just a quick note about the flame thrower: yes, it is awesome, but you are going to have a limited range compared to, well, every other weapon. You should plan to change your tactics appropriately. AKA, charge at the enemy and toast them. Head down the nearby ladder (on the left out of the armory) and the water in this area will start rising. What you need to do is to get to the right corner of the room, so start heading there asap. An enemy will be up above on the left hand side (you'll just have to do your best to avoid him if you have the flamethrower). Once you're up the ladder, go torch him. Some more enemies will come down the stairs, so wait and kill them too. Up the stairs is a man to the left and one straight ahead. There's a gap in the walkway separating you from the man straight ahead, but the flames WILL reach him... once you've cleared everyone, go into the tunnel on the left.

Watch the scenes and enjoy!

And with that, let me say it's been a pleasure playing with all of you! I hope you enjoyed this guide (It took a LONG ass time to write) as much as I enjoyed making it. Be sure to check out my facebook page and website! Until our next game together!

.:| DLC CASES! |:.

This section will be devoted to the downloadable content that is put out for L.A. Noire. Note that you can easily enter in your download codes from the "Playstation Store" option from the main menu. These cases will be found underneath the "Cases" option after they are installed. So, without further adieu... ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Consul's Car.....................................................[LA 2.22]

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This is a traffic case, as a call came in reporting that the car was left abandoned. We'll get the following clues from the start: ------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Jacobs' Backyard ---------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Abandoned Vehicle ----------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Oswald Jacobs -------------------------------------=========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Jacobs' Backyard =========================================== Drive over to the site. You'll speak with the police officer who will take you to the car. Go inspect in. You should be able to check the flag on the hood (which tells you it belongs to an Argentina Embassy). ----------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Missing Argentinean Flag ----------------------------------Go check the drivers seat to find the registration. ---------------------------NEW CLUE!: Registration Slip ---------------------------Now go do a sweep of the car. There's yellow markers all around, but be sure to check out the front license plate, the front-right missing wheel, and the trunk. You'll get these clues: --------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Missing License Plates -------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Missing Wheel -----------------------From there, the last thing you need to do is go check out the wrench to the right of the car. This will give you a few new updates:

---------------------------NEW CLUE!: Dewey Bros Wrench -------------------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Dewey Bros (?) ----------------------------================================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Trace Address for 'Dewey Brothers' ================================================= You'll hear the 'all clear' music as well. We can also trace the address for Dewey Brothers by using the nearby phone, giving us some updated info: -----------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Dewey Bros Dealership -----------------------------------==================================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Dewey Brothers Dealership ==================================================== Now it's time to talk to Jacobs. Ask him about "Witness Report", to which he'll say that he saw three mexicans stripping it. Press the TRUTH here to learn more details. This adds in a few new clues: ---------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Mexican Suspect ---------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Old Ford ------------------Next ask about the "Hispanic Suspects". Cole will ask if he went near the car after the Mexicans left, to which he'll say he didn't. His eye's are obviously lying here, so hit DOUBT. Next ask about the "Suspect Vehicle". He'll say he didn't catch the plates. Hit TRUTH here to get some more details, including a new paint job. Lastly ask about the "Vehicle Stripped". He'll do the eye thing again, so hit DOUBT here. He'll say he found a notebook in the glove box, and its on the porch. Go examine the notebook. It'll have an owners name on it (Juan Francisco Valdez) and a list of people.. and attributes. OK.... Be sure to hit 'X' to fully examine it while Cole focuses in on some names. ---------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Juan Francisco Valdez ------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Valdez's Notebook

----------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: William Dewey -------------------------------------You'll get the 'all clear' music yet again. Go use the gamewell to learn that a Juan Valdez reported his car missing and he's waiting for us at Central for us to interview him. ------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Central Police Station ------------------------------------==================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Interview Juan Valdez ==================================== Right now we can either go talk to the ambassador or go check out the car dealership. Let's go see what Juan has to say first. Head over to the station and he'll be waiting for you in room two. First ask him about where the car was purchased. He'll say his secretary and driver bought it from Dewew Bros. and he's having his own car brought up. He'll do a lot of eye movement though, so hit DOUBT here. Turns out he was bribed. -------------------------NEW CLUE!: Alleged Bribery -------------------------Next ask about the theft of the vehicle. He'll say it was stolen from the garage. This one's a bit trick, he looks honest as all get out for awhile BUT then does the eye thing again. Hit DOUBT here. He'll say he suspects a kid from the car dealership named Gabriel. Next ask about his association with "Gabriel". He'll say he is a mechanic. That's true, but there's more to the story, as Juan looks downward. This one is hard to get, but hit LIE here and than present the 'NOTEBOOK'. Juan likes the boys, it seems, and probably pissed off the wrong one. Head over to the dealership now and you'll speak to the owner. He'll take you over to the garage where we'll have to put the tools into place. There are three sets of tools (red, yellow, and blue), and you need to put away the loose yellow and red tools. This part is easy and impossible to do wrong, so do it to reveal a red 3/4 wrench missing. ====================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Locate Gabriel Del Gado ======================================

There's several more clues around this area, but all of them are red herrings (but examining them all will give you the 'all clear' music). You'll be able to go question Dewey now. First ask him about his contact with Valdez. He'll say he doesn't know Valdez. Well, we know that's a LIE, so hit LIE and present the 'BRIBE' as proof. Next ask about "Del Gado". He'll say he doesn't know, but look at his shifty eyes. Yep, hit DOUBT here for his address. Nice. ----------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Del Gado's Residence ----------------------------------=============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Del Gado's Residence =============================================== Lastly, ask about the "wrench". He'll mention he's had a lot of thefts. Despite looking straight-faced hit DOUBT here. Now it's time to head over to Del Gado's. Once you get there, head up the steps and inside. You can check the letters lying on the ground to learn that he's in Apt. 3, but we already knew that. Once you knock on Apt. 3 you'll meet a pregnant Anna Rodriguez. --------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Anna Rodriguez --------------------------------------Stefan will keep her company while we scope the place out. From the get-go, check the table to the left for the missing Argentinean flag, updating our clue. There's also a bedroom in here and a kitchen. Check out the table in the kitchen to get a new clue: --------------------------NEW CLUE!: Breakfast Plates --------------------------Next, head out the door connected to the kitchen and down the stairs. The small building on the left outside is a garage, so go check it out throughly. You should find the smoking gun by the black license plate just past the door and the packard wheels to the left, updating you clues. You'll hear the 'all clear' music as well. Now you can go and question Anna. Ask about the "motive" first. She'll say the customer insulted him. Press for the TRUTH here. Not a very good reason to commit a crime, I'd say. Next ask about her "last contact with Gabriel". She will say she hasn't seen him for three nights. Right, that's why there's two dirty plates in the kitchen. Hit LIE here and present the 'Breakfast Plates'.

Lastly, ask about the "Diplomatic Plates". She'll claim she knows nothing. She'll act cocky here though (raised eyebrows), so hit DOUBT. She'll tell you of a street race that he is at... ---------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Illegal Street Race ---------------------------------================================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Attend Santa Fe Avenue Street Race ================================================= Time to race! Head over to the street race where, naturally, it will have just started and YOU are part of it. Stay on the red car. They'll have a head start on you, but the road is wide. Two cars will crash fairly early while another one tries to keep you off Del Gado. Keep going and Del Gado will swerve left into the waterway to avoid a police barricade. Follow him and try to side-swipe his wheel wells. This is an entertaining race as you follow him through the water and on the inclined wall (be CAREFUL of the openings on the wall). You'll also go up a ramp and jump a train! Once you get his car disabled he'll try and run. Jump out and fire off a warning shot to stop him and make the arrest.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Naked City.......................................................[LA 2.23] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ *THIS* DLC is a Vice Desk case, and we'll start out in the captains office as he tells us some broad was whacked using the Army Morphine. Here's what we'll have to go on: ------------------NEW CLUE!: Morphine ------------------====================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Crime Scene ====================================== Head over to the apartment where the officer will tell you it's on the second floor in the back. As you near it you'll meet Stefan and Rusty, who are here for the murder case. They'll let you know that the cleaning lady, Mrs. Reynoldson called it in. --------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Mrs Reynoldson ----------------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Possible Suicide --------------------------Cole will head inside. Go speak to Malcolm, who will explain why he doesn't think it's a drowning. Examine the body now. Examine the head to see bruising on the neck. Check her left hand for a black sapphire ring, and her right arm to see bite marks. -----------------------------NEW CLUE!: Black Sapphire Ring -----------------------------Malcolm will tell you what he suspects: two people drugging her with morphine

and making it look like a drowning. ----------------------NEW CLUE!: Two Suspects -----------------------

From here, go down the hall and examine the bedroom. There's more pills on the floor here that you CAN examine for a clue: ------------------------NEW CLUE!: Sleeping Pills ------------------------You can also examine the elegant-looking jacket hanging up by the bed, which is apparently a men's smoking jacket. ------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Men's Smoking Jacket ------------------------------Also, be sure to check the right nightstand by the bed. There's a small container here that you can open to find more sleeping pills. HOWEVER, you can hit 'X' to check a second compartment which contains a prescription, netting you all sorts of updates: ------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Dr. Stoneman ---------------------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Benzedrine Prescription ---------------------------------============================================ NEW OBJECTIVE: Check Dr. Stoneman's Practice ============================================ ---------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Julia Randall's Apartment ---------------------------------------After that go check out her living room (the kitchen is full of red herrings). You want to check out the three pictures here, as you can open the backs of each of them. Only the middle one gives you a clue, though, with the back of the photo giving you an objective. ----------------------NEW CLUE!: Modeling Job -----------------------

=================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate D'Assine =================================== You'll get the 'all clear' music here. The only thing to do now is talk to the maid who found Julia. She'll be somewhat rattled, and mention a Mr. Henderson as she feels someone should be notified. --------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Mr. Henderson? --------------------------------------First ask her about the victim's "state of mind". Cole will ask if she was upset, but she'll deny it. Hit LIE here and present the 'sleeping pills'. She'll go on to say she knew about the pillbox, and that Julia lived like a movie star... Ask about her "personal life" next. She'll say she isn't sure but will avoid direct eye contact. Call out the LIE here and present the 'smoking jacket'. Apparently it belongs to the aforementioned Mr. Henderson, who seemed in love with Julia. ---------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Housekeeper's Statement ---------------------------------Ask about her "relationship" with Julia next. She'll say it was fine, but will shift her eyes a LOT. Hit DOUBT here to learn about Julia's mood swings. We'll be done here now. Head out the door and Cole will ask Stefan and Rusty to run down the jacket while he takes a look around. Head down the stairs and check the garbage bin on the right to find the syrette that Malcolm suspected: --------------------------NEW CLUE!: Morphine Syrette --------------------------The 'all clear' music will play and the location will now be crossed out. Ok, we have two choices now, the doctor's office or the dress store. Let's go to the doctor's office. As you get to the office, go inside and look at the business directory to find out the doctor is in room 505. Head up there (there's an elevator in the back) and interrupt his patient's visit. You'll be able to ask him some questions now. First ask about how long Julia was a knew her for about 6 months, but his the 'prescription' as evidence. Next He'll say she used it to control her hit DOUBT here. patient ("Relationship"). He'll say he eyes dart around. Hit LIE here and use ask about the "additional medication". weight... his eyes will shift again, so

With that out of the way, let's head over to the dress store. Head in and you'll meet the owner right away. Ask her about "Julia's employment history", and she'll say Julia came from New York. Hit TRUTH here to learn why she let Julia go. -----------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Dress Store Owner --------------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Heather Swanson ---------------------------------------The owner will then go fetch Julia's friend, Heather Swanson so you can ask her some questions. Ask about her "relationship with Julia". She'll say her fiance, Henry Arnet introduced them. Hit TRUTH here to learn more of Julia and Henry. Next ask about the 'Mr. Henderson'. She won't know who he is. Hit TRUTH here as well. --------------------NEW CLUE!: Pearl Ring --------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Henry Arnett ------------------------------------Cole will ask Heather to have Henry stop by the police station afterwards, telling her that Julia is dead. Head to the nearby phone by your car to receive a call from Mal, who will tell you to come to the morgue right away as he's done with the autopsy. ------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Hollywood Receiving Hospital ------------------------------------------=========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Hollywood Morgue =========================================== Head into the morgue and see Malcolm, who will confirm that she did die from the morphine. ----------------NEW CLUE!: Murder ----------------He'll also show you another body on the next table, a Jimmy Leblanc, who was carrying morphine, had none in him, and died courtesy of a 2x4 to the face over and over. And was apparently a harmonica player.

-------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Jimmy Leblanc -------------------------------------While you're there, Malcolm will get a call for you, saying that a Henry Arnett is waiting for you in interview room two. --------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Hollywood Police Station --------------------------------------===================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Interview Henry Arnett ===================================== It's easy enough to walk over there, so head across the see Henry. Ask him about his "relationship with Julia". knew her. This one is trick, he LOOKS like he's telling with DOUBT here. He'll admit to having "relations" with parking lot and go He'll say he vaguely the truth, but go her.

Next ask about the 'Mr. Henderson'. He'll say he wasn't privy to Julia's private life. This one is also tricky, but hit LIE here (where you'll see he mentions he's from someplace out east) and present the "maids testimony" to contradict that. Lastly ask about "Leblanc". He'll say he's never heard of him, but his eyes are lying. We have no proof, so hit DOUBT here. After that, Henry will give you his card and say he was in the fighting sixth marines and was a captain. Cole will have the officer do some busy work for him while we have to tail Henry. ================================ NEW OBJECTIVE: Tail Henry Arnett ================================ It may have been awhile since your last tail mission, but just keep a good amount of distance between your cars and you'll be fine. He'll eventually head to a pawn shop, and will get some money, then start leaving on foot. Cole will drop Roy off to see what he pawned while you follow him on foot. -----------------------NEW LOCATION!: Pawn Shop -----------------------Follow him on right side of your side and lead you to a foot as he goes down the street. You may as well stay on the the street (there's a newspaper stand here) as he crosses to goes further down. Follow him and after a SHORT while he'll travel agency, where he buys a one-way ticket to Mexico City.

Head outside to meet up with Roy, who will show you what he pawned. -------------------------------------

NEW LOCATION!: Ao-Kuewa Travel Agency ----------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Train Ticket -------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Faberge' Cigarette Case ---------------------------------Get into the car now where KGPL will tell you Stefan and Rusty have some information for you, as well as the name of the last arresting officer for Leblanc. ========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Return to Hollywood Station ========================================== ----------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Hollywood Ninth Beat ----------------------------------========================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Meet with Patrolman Wallis ========================================= You have a choice on which to see first here. Personally, I chose the ninth beat first. When you get there, you'll see a cutscene showing the patrolman chasing some thugs. Time to help out! ====================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Assist Patrolman Wallis ====================================== Run after the guy, running left around the truck (Roy will go right). These guys are FAST, so don't expect to catch him. They'll lead you to a building site and start shooting at you. You can probably shoot the first two guys in front of you dead in a flash, but there's two more in the back. Use cover and flank them/take them out. Afterwards, the patrolman will tell you he remembers Leblanc and his partner who got away, a strongman named 'Willy!'. ------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Willy? ------------------------------Head back to the police station now. You'll see a cutscene with most of your partners and then ask the watch commander for the recent burglary list. ================================================================

NEW OBJECTIVE: Inspect Recent Burglary List from Watch Commander ================================================================ On the list, you want to find the cigarrete case, the rings (BOTH of them), and the pill box. Tap your finger on ALL of those for these updates: -------------------------NEW CLUE!: Contraband List --------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Mrs. Evestrom -------------------------------------============================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Evestrom Residence ============================================= Well, at least we got an objective. Time to head over to Mrs. Evestrom's place. Head over to her house (she's obviously quite wealthy) and you'll be able to ask her some questions. First ask about the "list of stolen items". She'll name a tiara and the cigarette case. She'll also say the case was worth WAY more than it is. Hit LIE here and present the 'cigarette case'. Next ask about the "burglary incident". She looks quite honest here, so hit TRUTH. Turns out she was out at a Dr. Stoneman party when the burglary happened. Right as the detectives are ABOUT to leave, HEATHER SWANSON comes in. Turns out she is Mrs. Evestrom's daughter! --------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Arnett's Apartment --------------------------------======================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Interrogate Henry Arnett ======================================= We'll now have to take her to Henry Arnett's apartment, as she firmly believes he can't be a thief. You want to be careful driving there, as there is a trophy attached to the trip ("Chauffer Service"). A police siren helps. Once you get to the place, the desk will tell you he is in Apt. 30. Go up the elevator to start a chase scene. ================================ NEW OBJECTIVE: Apprehend Suspect ================================ Follow Henry down the fire escape, up the nearby drainpipe, and across the board before you are knocked out.

You'll come to back in the apartment, giving you a chance to scope out the place. ============================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Arnett's Apartment ============================================= The only thing you really need to look at is the suitcase next to the couch that Henry and Heather are on. Open to find the ticket as well as a very expensive looking watch. -----------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Vacheron Constantin Watch -----------------------------------You'll get the 'all clear' music now. Time to ask Henry some questions. Ask about the "burglary ring" first. He'll stick with the fashion industry thing, so call that a LIE and present the 'cigarette case'. He'll crack and admit it was Julia's idea. Ask about the "Randall murder" next. He'll say that he Julia wanted out. Not likely, since he's fleeing alone to Mexico. Call that a LIE and present the 'train ticket'. He'll admit to killing Julia as well, having paid the other two men to do it. Lastly ask about "Henderson". He'll say there is no Henderson. He's obviously lying, so hit LIE here. This is tricky, but you want to present the 'contraband list'. He'll say that STONEMAN IS HENDERSON, and he threw the parties as cover for their thefts. Interesting. Looks like its time to pay the doctor another visit. -------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Dr. Stoneman's Practice -------------------------------------========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Interrogate Doctor Stoneman ========================================== Go up and watch the scene. The doctor will confess and then do something VERY dramatic. A very good scene, one of the best. Use the telephone afterwards to call in R&I. You'll get a message from Stefan saying that they found Willy's apartment and to meet them there. -------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Willy's Apartment -------------------------------============================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Locate 'Willy' =============================

When you get on the scene you'll have to go down the street to the left. On the way you'll hear some harmonica playing. Keep going to the alleyway where you'll see Willy. Stupid Roy will tell him that you are LAPD, prompting a chase. ===================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Apprehend Wilson Reade ===================================== Chase him up the drainpipe and the ladders and stairs that follow. Eventually you'll get a cutscene where it shows him climbing up a "Broadway" tower. [*NOTE: Be sure to shoot all the letters down if you want the "Give My Regards" trophy.]

Shoot him down to end this case.

He'll say he bought it directly from the owner, Richard Coombs. Press TRUTH here. Cole will send him downtown just in case. --------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Richard Coombs --------------------------------------Time to go check out this auto dealership. girl came in to him. Hit TRUTH here to learn he paid with a check to a Jean Archer. ---------------NEW CLUE!: Check ---------------Next ask about the "description of suspect". He'll say she was younger. Hit TRUTH here as well. Next ask about his "association with Marquee". He will say he doesn't know anything. Hit TRUTH here again. He'll say he has heard of the company though, and gives us the address. --------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Marquee Printing Company --------------------------------------=========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Marquee Printing =========================================== Next ask about the "check payment details". He'll say he paid of friday. He'll FINALLY look suspicious though, so hit DOUBT admit that he thought it might be dirty, so he paid by check. the "suspicious transaction". He'll look shifty again, so hit time. her at the end here. He'll Lastly ask about DOUBT one more

Afterwards, go to the nearby gamewell and put out an APB on Jean Archer. You'll learn that a James Belasco is being held in central and may have something to do with your case. -------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: James Belasco -------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Central Police Station ------------------------------------======================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Interrogate James Belasco ======================================== Ok, we have a few choices on where to go/what to do now. First, go to the address from the pink slip. You'll find that its an empty lot, but this gives us a clue. ----------------------NEW CLUE!: Fake Address ----------------------After that, go to the police station. The suspect is in interview room two.

Go in and he'll show you his pink slip... with the same address as the one we just went to. Ask him about "stolen auto courier". He'll pretty much blow you off. Press DOUBT here to intimidate him into the truth. -----------------------------NEW CLUE!: Stolen Auto Courier --------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Auto Theft Racket ---------------------------Next ask about his "association with Archer". He'll say he's never heard of her. Call that a LIE and use the 'fake address'. He'll admit to knowing her. Ask about the "auto theft racket". He'll say he just delivers the cars over state lines. He'll look around nervously though, and we have no proof, so hit DOUBT here. He'll say they get sold east. Lastly ask about where the "stolen vehicles are warehoused". He'll look around yet again, so hit DOUBT yet again. He'll cough up the warehouse as some place on industrial street. -----------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Industrial Street (?) -----------------------------------On your way out of the interview room, Ray Pinker will stop you. He'll tell you more about the Marquee printing company, and give you an address and a name: ------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Note from Ray Pinker --------------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Gordon Leitvol ----------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Pink Slips --------------------You'll be stopped AGAIN on the way out (Note: This one is NOT a cutscene, so listen to the watch commander). He'll tell you that Jean Archer was spotted by a patrolman down the street at a Western Union Office. ----------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Western Union Office ----------------------------------====================================

NEW OBJECTIVE: Apprehend Jean Archer ==================================== You can either jump in a car or just run down the street. Either way, just do it fast as she won't stay there for long. Once you get there you'll have your chance to ask her some questions. First ask her about the "stolen kaiser frazer". Hit DOUBT here. She admits to selling the car behind the racket's back. Next ask about her "association with Belasco". She'll deny she knows him. Hit LIE here and present the 'fake address'. She'll mention a 'Bigelow' as well... ---------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: 'Bigelow' ---------------------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Known associates of Archer ------------------------------------Lastly ask about being a "stolen auto courier". She'll again say she doesn't know. Hit DOUBT here to get the REAL address of the warehouse. ----------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: 58 Industrial Street ----------------------------------=============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate 58 Industrial Street =============================================== The patrolmen will cart Jean off. We'll have two choices on where to go from here. I picked the Industrial Street on my first play-through. Turns out that this was the wrong choice as I "missed" a clue (I STILL got a 5-Star rating, just FYI). If you care, I'll put the optional choice of going to the Marquee printing company here. Completionists will want to go here FIRST. You also get more QUESTIONS in this way. **OPTIONAL** Head over to the Marquee Printing company and you'll meet the manager, Gordon Leitvol. You'll get to ask him some questions here. First ask about his "knowledge of theft racket". He'll say he wouldn't get mixed up in it, but his eyes lie. Hit DOUBT here, he'll say some used car lots sold blanks a few years back. Next ask about his "pink slip supply". He'll look around yet again, so hit DOUBT. He'll say that Coombs may have stole documents in the past. Lastly ask about "Coombs". Cole will ask for the ledger, but Leitvol is hesitant. Hit DOUBT here to make him show it. Once it's open, you can finger tap on the name BIGELOW to see he's quite the repeat customer, giving you a few updates:

-------------------------NEW CLUE!: Delivery Ledger -----------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: S. Bigelow ----------------------------------*END OPTIONAL*

Once you get to the place, you'll have a battle-royale. Most of the crooks here use handguns, but there are a few with auto's and a shotty. [*NOTE: If you want the "Chop Shop" trophy, you'll have to be PATIENT and wait for a guy to get below the engine hanging up, then SHOOT the engine.] There's also two goons upstairs. Go up and clear them out and you'll bust down the far door to meet Steven Bigelow. You'll get a chance to investigate the place. On the left side of the room, check the delivery note and betting slips. It seems they have Leitvol right where they want him. -----------------------NEW CLUE!: Delivery Note ----------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Betting Slips -----------------------Also check the back table to find a BOX of pink slips (You should get the "Racing for Pinks" trophy here too). ---------------------------NEW CLUE!: Box of Pink Slips ---------------------------We'll have to question Bigelow now. Ask him about the "pink slip supply". He'll say he needs them for reselling cars that he repaired. Hit DOUBT here. He'll cough up Leitvol as his man. ------------------------NEW CLUE!: Gambling Debts ------------------------Ask about his "association with Leitvol". He'll say he's one of the stiffs

out in the warehouse... Hehe, he's not a good liar. Call his LIE here and present the 'note from Ray Pinker'. With that, the cops will haul Bigelow away. He have one last stop to the Marquee printing company. ======================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Apprehend Gordon Leitvol ======================================= Once you get to the business, Cole will say he's under arrest. You'll get to question him now. Ask about his "deliveries to Industrial Street". He'll say he signs for everything, but does an awkward eye movement. Call his LIE here and present the 'gambling debts'. That's it for this case boys and girls. Damn fine work!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Reefer Madness.......................................................[LA 2.25] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This DLC was released for L.A. Noire on July 12th, 2011. It is another 'Vice Desk' case, so once you download it you can go to the Vice Desk cases to play it.

The story starts out with the vice lieutenant telling us of a Freddie Calhoun, who is trying to get money to bail town and is ready to snitch on a primo reefer distribution ring for fifty bucks, giving us the lead we need. ------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Mike Lyman's Bar ---------------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Freddie Calhoun ---------------------------------------======================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Interview Freddie Calhoun ======================================== Drive over to the bar where you'll see a small scene. Head in the bar and walk to the back where you will be able to talk to Freddie. He'll spill what he knows for 20 bucks: Some guy named Juan Cruz is bringing in 50 pounds of dope a week from Tijuana. He gives us an address too! ----------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Juan Garcia Cruz ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Juan Garcia Cruz's Residence ------------------------------------------======================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Interview Cruz Residence ======================================= Drive to the Cruz house now and you'll see a cut-scene where they fire on Roy and you with a machine gun! Well, Freddie was right, they do like guns! Roy will go call for backup, leaving us to deal with the men inside.

====================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Subdue Juan Garcia Cruz ====================================== Now, if you care about nabbing a trophy, move to the left and get behind the tall fence there. Follow that down and jump over it and enter the house from the BACK door (which Cole will kick in). Killing the men THIS way will give you the "Forcible Rear Entry" trophy. After the fight, the police will block off the house and Malcolm will come down. Go ahead and flip the body over so you can examine him. Check out both of his pockets to find his wallet and a silver dollar (which Cole finds odd since they are out of circulation). --------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Gunman's Silver Dollar --------------------------------After checking those two items, inspect the rest of the living room. You can check the stacks of boxes in here to get a location to pop up: ------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Parnell's Soup Co. (?) ------------------------------------Note that after you get that (?) you can use the phone in the house to have KGPL give you the proper address for the Soup Co. There's also a weird note on one of the boxes where Juan has something written down: 'Masangkay'. Who knows what that means!? ---------------------NEW CLUE!: 'Masangkay' ---------------------Now you can go boxes and some in it that has further (as it check out the rest of the house. There's a room with more soup guns lying around in it (red herrings), and a room with a bed a 20th Century Marked ad in it. Pick that up and examine it vibrates) to zoom in on the Parnell Soup ad.

---------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: 20th Century Market ---------------------------------============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate 20th Century Market ============================================== There is also some interesting artwork in a book in the kitchen you can check out if you want. Head out the front door to have the officer tell you the

neighbor wants to talk to you. Mr. Fickman will tell you that Juan spent most of his time in the chicken coop out back. Well let's go check it out! Head to the backyard and kick the door in. Now, inspect the cans on the shelves to the right. The middle set of cans will have four cans for you to choose from. Inspect the second from the left to open a secret door on your right. Head into the secret room and check out the desk to the left. It is a "Parnell Soup Delivery Ledger". Open it up to see that Juan kept track of incoming pot deliveries. Tap your finger on the "Tijuana" entry to make some clues pop up. Seems that this guy "E.J." is a major mover. -----------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: E.J.? -------------------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Tijuana Dope Shipments --------------------------------After that go check out the wall on the right. You'll see two soup cans that you can pick up. You can also hit 'X' to open them with the can opener, revealing the buds of pot hidden inside. This will also give us some clues. -------------------NEW CLUE!: Soup Cans -------------------================================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Parnell's Soup Factory ================================================= Note: Be sure to open BOTH soup cans do get the "Soup in the Pot" trophy. It won't don you any good with just one! You will now hear the 'all clear' music play. Ok, now we have a choice to make: Do we head over to the Soup Company or the 20th Century Market? Well, I'll tell you right now that if you head to the MARKET first you will get the "High Flyer" trophy, but you won't get a 5-star rating (and vice versa). Quite a pickle, huh? Well, you just need to play through this case twice is all. Personally I did the MARKET first and the SOUP FACTORY second. However, if you do the SOUP FACTORY first you'll end up having to go do the MARKET path anyways, you just get in more questions and information about the case. Below I'll list the 'SOUP FACTORY PATH'. You can skip it if you want to get the trophy NOW (rather than later) or if you just want to beat the case, but either way you can find the 'MARKET PATH' further below. --------------------------***THE SOUP FACOTRY PATH***

--------------------------Head into the soup factory where you will have the secretaries let you in to see Howard Parnell, the owner. --------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Howard Parnell --------------------------------------After meeting Howard, Cole will have him bring out the current employee ledger so you can look it over. Here, scour the ledger and finger-tap on "Jorge Cruz" as he has the SAME address is "Juan Cruz", who we've already killed. -----------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Jorge Garcia Cruz -----------------------------------------After that you'll be able to ask Howard some questions. First ask about the "Factory Sealed Cans". He'll say he knows nothing about this, but if you watch him he's fidgeting (and will look downwards). Hit DOUBT here. He'll admit to employing a lot of illegals. Now ask about the "Parnell Soup Company". He'll say things are all fine and dandy, but will fidget again. Hit DOUBT here again. Next ask about his "Knowledge of the Cruz Brothers". He looks quite truthful here, but if you wait and look at him he'll cast his eyes down. Once again hit DOUBT here. He gives us nothing to go on though. This brings up a new question though. Ask about "Jorge Garcia". He'll say he does maintenance on the conveyor belts. Hit TRUTH here. After that uncomfortable interview, Howard will take you on the tour of the plant, ending at the shipping and receiving bay. Here you will be introduced to one of the dispatchers, Sergio. ------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Sergio Rojas ------------------------------------You will also be able to look at the ledger that is open on the desk. Take a look at it and finger-tap on the "20th Century Markets" deliveries. Holy crap, the deliver a TON to that place. Next, go talk to Sergio. Cole will ask to see the coin he is flipping which, as you can guess, is a silver dollar. --------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Sergio's Silver Dollar ---------------------------------

You'll now be able to question Sergio. First ask him about Sealed Soup Cans". He'll say that he keeps to his station, than a little shady. Hit DOUBT here to threaten him. He'll get a shipment once every few weeks (Ernesto Drives, Jorge sounds like he just turned his buddies in.

the "Factory but looks more tell you that they Cans). Well, that

Next ask about the "20th Century Market". The question will turn into "Do you know Juan Cruz?", which he'll say he doesn't. Hit LIE here and present the 'Sergio's Silver Dollar'. He'll tell you Juan and Jorge are cousins working for the same man. After all of that, Cole will make sure Howard keeps the factory running as normal in exchange for overlooking the immigrants. You will now have to head to the 20th Century Market.

--------------------***THE MARKET PATH*** --------------------Once you get to the 20th Century Market, Roy will call in some wagons. Watch the cut-scene as Cole and Roy enter the market, and afterwards the cashier will make a break for it. ====================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Apprehend Grocery Clerk ====================================== Chase after him through the back door. Here BE SURE to stay a bit to the right and head for the building's corner, as you can gain ground on the suspect and get close to him easily. Be sure to jam on the 'X' button to tackle him. After you have him tacked you'll see several more scenes where he hands you a little pot, his wallet (he's from Tijuana, go figure), and a silver dollar (this one has more words on it... remind you of anything?). ------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Shopkeeper's Silver Dollar -------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Airto Sanchez -------------------------------------After investigating all those items, you will be able to question Airto. First ask him about "E.J.". He'll claim all he does is run the shop, but he'll look awfully worried and glances around nervously. Choose LIE here and present the 'Airto's Silver Dollar'. Airto will be VERY hesitant to give us anything, but will advise the supplier is a man named Ernesto Juarez who is bringing in a shipment to the soup factory at 1 A.M.

Next ask about the Parnell's Soup Shipments. He'll simply say soup is very popular. Heh, press DOUBT here. Airto will say Jorge from the soup factory organizes the shipments. *NOTE: You'll get a THIRD QUESTION here, only IF you took the SOUP PATH first! Next ask him about "Juan and Jorge Cruz". He'll just tell you Ernesto brought in Juan who brought in Jorge, and they used him as a front (under the threat of immigration). The game will then shift to Roy and Cole staking out the soup factory late at night. Just like Airto said, a truck will pull in. This will lead to a raid. ========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Raid Parnell's Soup Factory ========================================== Here you'll simply have to follow the police cars and break into the soup factory. Remember you can get a shotgun from the trunk if you wish (I prefer the handgun). The factory is FULL of enemies for you to shoot up. Be careful as you start, as there's an enemy in the room on the left and one on the right as well. There are also some enemies up above on a second level of the factory. This isn't THAT hard though, as several policemen will come help and act like decoy's. I like to take out the two closest targets than make my way to the stairs leading up to the second level. Here you can often get a drop on two enemies and pick up one of their machine guns. After the firefight, a policeman will lead you into the room on the left side of the factory. Inspect the dead body here to learn he is Ernesto (he has a wallet in his shirt pocket). He also has a silver coin in his left hand. --------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Gunman's Silver Dollar --------------------------------After that Roy will call you out of the room and tell you to inspect the boxes by him. Go over there and open the box to see a LOT of pot. ----------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Boxed Marijuana Shipment ----------------------------------After looking at the box of pot, an officer will tell you "the guy" and asks us if "Cruz" means anything to us. Follow him as he leads you upstairs to another body. Inspect the body to find a roll of cash in his hand and a silver coin in his front pocket.

-------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Jorge's Silver Dollar -------------------------------After that Malcolm and Ray will arrive on the scene. They'll show Cole the FIVE COINS that we've found throughout the case. Each of them has a part of a word printed on them. For this part we have to put the coins in order. First of all, do you remember the note we found in Juan's place. Yep, it said: Masangkay. Now, we have to put these coins in order. Of course there are only three coins that make up the word Masangkay. The other two say 'ALS' and 'MET'. That of course stands for 'METALS'. So, the coins as a whole will say Masangkay Metals. Move the coins until they spell out that word. Oh, once you do, you will also get the "Spare A Dime" trophy! You'll also get a 'new' clue: ----------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Collected Silver Dollars ----------------------------------Ray will happen to know the address of 'Masangkay Metals' off the top of his head for some reason, so you'll get a location and an objective as well: ------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Masangkay Metals ------------------------------=========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Masangkay Metals =========================================== As you get to the beat-up building you'll find the entrance is locked up. Head to the left where you can find an opening that you can crawl over (the ONLY spot without barbwire). Now head to the back of the building. There's an open entrance here where you can see three thugs playing poker. As bad as it sounds go ahead and shoot all three of them while you have the drop on them. Another man will pop up on the left, so take him out to before going higher. Up on this second level there are a LOT of run-down offices. Let Roy go first as many of these offices have people in them with machine guns. Be sure to take cover in the doorways and take them out safely (also be sure to take their machine guns). The first enemy is on the right, so be sure to deal with him first and claim his machine gun (note that there is a hallway to the right of the door Roy kicks in, just go down that and the first enemy is in the first office on the right). By the time you kill him a second enemy will pop up in the middle of the area. Past him is a third enemy behind another desk. After clearing out three offices, you will climb another set of stairs. Up here are three more enemies, but this area is much more wide open, so get behind the railing on the left for cover and pick the first two close enemies off (Or just take out the closest one asap and flank the second one from the right). After the first two are dead, it is super easy to flank the last guy from the right and take him out at an angle. Finally bust down the door the

last guy was ducking by to see a scene. Afterwards you will be congratulated by the vice lieutenant. Good job!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Nicholson Electroplating.............................................[LA 2.26]

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ In this DLC chapter, Herschel and Cole will be at a gas station discussing the APB put out on Jack (You ARE in the ARSON DESK after all) when all of a sudden, a HUGE explosion will go off across town. Herschel will tell you to drive for the cloud, so what are you waiting for?! If you take too long, eventually dispatch will give you the address of where you need to go exactly: --------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Nicholson Electroplating --------------------------------------========================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Explosion Site ========================================= Don't worry too much if you don't get this at all, just head to the explosion site. Once you get towards the blast area you will see a scene with looters shooting at the cops. How despicable. They'll than run away and you'll be given an objective to subdue them: ================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Subdue the Looters ================================= Of course in MY book "Subdue" means kill (looters are the scum of the earth anyway, shoot them dead). Once they are both dead, follow Herschel into the scene of the explosion. You'll be asked to investigate the area to try and find out what in the world could have caused it. ========================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Explosion Site ========================================= You can also check out mayor has to say after that, go down the left piece of clothing that the covered bodies on the right and listen to what the one of his first TV interviews straight ahead. NEW OBJECTIVE: Trace Address for Superior Laundry ================================================= OK... kinda a weird time to be worried about laundry. Keep heading down that left path and soon an officer will tell you to come check out the locker that he is standing by. Go over there and open up the suitcase. Wow, there's a lot of stuff in here! Check out the gray bar really quick to... have your picture taken. A spy camera! Neat! --------------------NEW CLUE!: Spy Camera ---------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Espionage -------------------Pick up the yellow object next which doesn't really give you anything but Cole keeps for himself anyway. Next pick up the name tag: Tomoko Okamoto. A person of interest, perhaps? --------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Tomoko Okamoto --------------------------------------Now inspect the newspaper. You'll see that it's pretty much gibberish, but Cole will recognize that it's actually a undeciphered message and the plate next to it is a cipher ring. ------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Undeciphered Message ------------------------------What you need to do here is rather simple. See where it says "H=K". We need to match up those two letters. Move the outer ring until H is at the top. Notice how the middle ring moves with it. Now move the middle ring so K is under H. Once you have that done you are golden. Now we need to decipher the message "KSBOJLKQ XSB". Use the OUTER ring to move to "K". Once you do, notice that in the upper left corner, a "N" will pop up. Yep, the game is keeping track of what you are spelling. How nice of them. Keep spelling out the words to completion. You'll soon get a new objective: ============================================= NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Deciphered Address ============================================= Head back out to the open area and take the upper left path now. Follow it

inwards and to the right. An officer will tell you to come check out the item he's standing by. Go pick it up (its a metal ring of some sort) and Cole will put it on the nearby matching "cup". From here you have to match up the words by moving the analog stick to the right (and pressing 'X' when you feel the vibration). This will unlock a new clue: -----------------------NEW CLUE!: Airplane Part -----------------------Note: This also unlocks the "The Nose Knows" trophy. Nice! After this you will hear the 'all clear' music. From here, go walk to the beginning of this area where you will meet Fred Nicholson (the owner). --------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Fred Nicholson --------------------------------------We'll have a chance to ask him some questions now. First ask about the "Plant Explosion". He'll say his chief chemist, Harold McLellan, was using this area to test his new process, which is classified information. Oh that son of a bitch! Hit DOUBT here to intimidate him a bit and get more info. ---------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Harold McLellan ---------------------------------------Next ask about the "Whereabouts of Okamoto". He'll say that SHE is Harold's personal assistant. He'll blink a LOT here though. This is a tough one, but hit LIE and present the 'Spy Camera'. He'll say she was selling him out, and the culprit could be another plating company or the aircraft carriers. Next ask him about the "Whereabouts of McLellan". You'll get some BS here, so hit DOUBT here. As usual, the root cause of this explosion was greed. Fred will also say that the laundry tag most likely belonged to Harold. Good to know. With that out of the way go get into your car and go out the way you came in. Head for the nearest TELEPHONE and use it. Cole will ask dispatch to speak to the Army Air Force base for him as he found an aircraft part with "P&W Wasp Major R-4360" stamped on it. Dispatch will tell you that they'll get back to you on that. You can also get the address for Superior Laundry Services here: ---------------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Superior Laundry Services ---------------------------------------==================================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Superior Laundry Services

==================================================== Head on over to the laundry place now. Go see the clerk in the back who will be too busy for you but lets you look through the ledger. Finger-tap on the name "Oscar Hangstrom"/J2620 to get a new clue. ---------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Oscar Hangstrom ---------------------------------------However, old Oscar doesn't have an address! Go use the nearby telephone to call dispatch, who also can't give you an address for this guy! Damn! From here, go to the 'Deciphered Address'. After the small cut-scene, go check out the mailbox on the right to find Okamoto's name. ---------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Okamoto's Apartment ---------------------------------So, this is her apartment huh? Head up the stairs. Her door is the first one on the right, and it's wide open. Go in to see that someone has obviously trashed the place. Now go open the fridge. Wow, didn't expect that! --------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: John Doe --------------------------------Go ahead and inspect the poor sap. Cole will notice he took one right to the head and another right to the heart. They wanted to make sure this guy was DEAD. Now be sure to inspect BOTH of his arms for these two clues: --------------------NEW CLUE!: Wristwatch ----------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Ring --------------After that, go inspect over by the fireplace to find something shiny on the mantle: -----------------NEW CLUE!: Tie Pin ------------------

Finally go into the back room and take a left to check out the dresser. Here Cole will find the MATCH to the small gold ball from earlier (probably earrings?) and puts them together, which opens up a compartment in one of them to reveal a MICROFILM. -------------------NEW CLUE!: Microfilm -------------------This will play the 'all clear' music and give you the trophy "Skeletons In The Icebox" as well! Cool! Biggs will get on the horn and call in services to clean this place up. After he gets off use the phone yourself. You'll end up talking to Ray, who will tell you to go check out Hughes Aircraft and tell you more about the aircraft part you found. ========================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Hughes Aircraft ========================================== Head on over there next. As you get there security will refuse to let you in until another car pulls up. This man actually knows Biggs, as he used to be in the LAPD: Vernon Mapes. ------------------------------------NEW PERSON OF INTEREST!: Vernon Mapes ------------------------------------He's the new head of security for Hughes, so he'll escort us in. Follow him into the area and in the building to see the "Spruce Goose" that Howard Hughes is building. We'll then get to ask him some questions: First ask about the "Plant Explosion". He'll say he doesn't know anything, but will do an extremely obvious eye-dodge. Hit DOUBT here. We'll get nothing from this though. Next ask about his "Knowledge of Okamoto". He'll do the eye thing again, so hit DOUBT again. Cole will question if he wears retired LAPD Tie Pins, but that doesn't really help us either. Lastly ask about his "Knowledge of McLellan". He'll say he's heard about him pitching his process to the company. He looks awfully shifty though. Hit LIE here and use the 'Prop Spinner' as proof. Mapes will admit they sent the prop spinner for McLellan to test and didn't know if he let Nicholson know about it or not. We'll now have a chance to investigate the area. Behind you is some stairs that lead up to an office. Go up there and examine all the photographs in the area for these clues:

-----------------------------NEW LOCATION!: Unknown Address -------------------------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Photograph --------------------There's also another office across the maintenance bay that has a couple of golden-handled doors, but you can't open them. Along the way though you'll run into a maintenance man working on an engine who will let you look inside of it to see it's covered in linseed oil to preserve them form oxidization. After that, go to the front of the plane to find BARRELS of linseed oil, which will pop up as a clue now. ---------------------NEW CLUE!: Linseed Oil ---------------------Now go up the stairs and INTO the plane. There's nothing for us in this lower part, so climb the ladder on the right to get up into the cockpit area. Now you have to find the note on the bulletin board by the ladder, which will give you a pair of coordinates. -------------------------NEW CLUE!: Navigation Note -------------------------Now head to the nearby navigation table and enter in the coordinates you found. Cole will repeat them to himself, but here they are if it makes it any easier: Latitude: 24 Degrees, 15 Minutes NORTH Longitude: 76 Degrees, 0 Minutes WEST Once you get those in right, you'll see it points to the BAHAMAS. The maiden voyage perhaps? -----------------NEW CLUE!: Bahamas -----------------With that the 'all clear' music will play and Biggs will tell us we need to go back to the station and see what Ray has found out about the camera. =========================================

NEW OBJECTIVE: Return to Wilshire Station ========================================= Once you get back to the station go see the front desk who will give you some flak, then tell you to go downstairs and see Ray. ======================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate Tech Services ======================================== Head down and hit square to talk to Ray. He'll have you look at the photographs from the spy camera. Here you can use the left stick to move the magnifier and zoom. Move past the first photograph (which is hilarious, at the second. Zoom in on the man's hands and wrist. This dead in the apartment! Ray will tell you they are looking is. the right stick to by the way) and look is the guy we found into who he actually

Go to the next photo and focus in on Mapes' tie. No hard evidence though. The next photograph is a picture of McLellan's "Process": A bath of chemicals that you dip the aluminum into. Keep going to the very last photograph and focus in on the DOOR NUMBER by the couple. You'll get a new location and objective: ---------------------------------NEW LOCATION!: House in Photograph ---------------------------------============================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Investigate House in Photograph ============================================== Once you're done with the photos, Ray will ask you to help him out with an experiment. He has three chemicals and an eye-dropper. Simply take the dropper and put it in each bottle. Once the third drop is in an explosion will happen. Ray will theorize that this is what happened at Nicholson. After all, we got a good enough explosion to knock Cole off his feet with THREE drops... they were using a 100-Gallon Vat.... BEFORE YOU GO, go around the table where the pictures are and you'll find the MICROFILM on the opposite side. Use the magnifying glass to take a look at it and see it's actually the patent on McLellan's invention. -----------------------------------NEW CLUE!: Aluminum Polishing Patent -----------------------------------Ok, with that knowledge in hand head over to the house in the photograph. Once you get there head inside. You'll see the place is absolutely DOUSED in gasoline. You can't check out any of the back rooms, so go inspect the bedroom area. On the dresser opposite of the bed are two documents: an airline

ticket and a passport. As you inspect the passport Cole will make a sudden realization (with the help of the photograph in the back of it) which I won't spoil. As soon as you put it down though, someone will chuck in a molotov into the house, making the place go up in flames! Biggs will tell you to blow up the gas canister by the stove! Quickly pull out your gun and shoot it. This will make the wall collapse into the other house, so run through the hole into the back of this second house where you will find a window on the right. As soon as you get through the window you'll see none other than Mapes trying to escape. You'll now have to chase him down. ================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Pursue Vernon Mapes ================================== Be careful as you chase him, as the beginning has a scripted truck that will get in your way (swerve left) and Mapes goes through some backyards and alleys filled with people (you DON'T want to run any of them over). As you stay on him, soon armed security cars will join in, trying to knock YOU off the road (they look like army cars). Whatever you do, stay on MAPES. Swerve into the distracting cars if they get TOO close, but stay on MAPES. He'll soon arrive at the aircraft area. Note: If you chased him all the way there and didn't lose him, you'll now get the "Out of the Frying Pan" trophy. You'll now have a new objective as well: ===================================== NEW OBJECTIVE: Apprehend Vernon Mapes ===================================== Which is easier said than done, as you'll be behind your car and getting fired at by the security team. OK, now you have before you one of the SINGLE HARDEST TROPHIES to obtain in the entire game (maybe not as hard as collecting all the cars, but y'know...). This trophy is called "Bulletproof Windshield". And what you have to do is to kill TWO DRIVERS of MP CARS as they drive up to this gun battle. I won't lie, it took me a DOZEN TRIES at LEAST to do this. Here are some general tips for this undertaking: o If you FAIL (and you will) just DIE so you can start over at the beginning of the gun battle. o Set up your auto-assist in the menu. This can help. o Equip a suit that helps (like the Hawkshaw). o I don't have it, but I'd imagine if you have a machine gun in your trunk that it would help a ton (like the Chicago Piano Gun).

o Practice makes perfect! The SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT thing to know about this fight is WHERE THE CARS DRIVE UP AT. Here they are: 1) Right at the beginning of the battle a MP CAR will drive in from the left while you're still behind Biggs' car. This one is nearly impossible to get as you can't get to it head-on. Your best shot is to try and aim where it stops and pray for a head-shot (knowing where it will stop is knowledge you will acquire upon many deaths). 2) This car only shows up if you don't go CHARGING INTO the facility. It will come driving down the main road from the left. Go stand out in the road and wait for it to come down. There's only one guy in the car, so try to face it head-on and shoot him or wait for him to stop and quickly shoot him before he gets out. He has a shotgun. 3) As you go into the main facility a car will swoop in from the left. Try and take out two security police first, then run into the middle of the area and get a bead on the driver. You'll take a couple of bullets but this is a good chance to take him out. He'll drive past you if you miss, making it hard to get him. 4) Immediately after car 3, a car will come in from the RIGHT. You can often focus on car 3, then turn around and focus on car 4, so car 4 is like a second chance. He doesn't drive that far into the area, but you have a head-on view the whole time. Shooting two drivers dead before they get out of the car will result in getting the "Bulletproof Windshield" Trophy. Congrats if you pulled it off! Trophy or not, clean up the rest of the security team and a yellow flag will come up once you're done. Time to go after Vernon. Be sure to pick up a machine gun from one of the dead MP's. Head into the aircraft hanger now where you'll have another shootout. Go around the front of the plane and near the back where the second office is Mapes will be up on the roof, firing at you with a machine gun. Make your way closer to him using the many boxes in the place as cover until you can take him out. This will bring the chief down to the aircraft hanger where Cole and Biggs explain the case to him, ending this DLC.
