Notes on Minerva Cranford

At eighteen, Minerva married John "Jack" Childress. There has been some confusion about his given name. He is mentioned as both John Childress
and Jack Childress; although, Jack is a fairly common nickname for John.

After the birth of their first child, Eliza, the family moved to Bessemer, Alabama.

About 1852, they moved to Daingerfield, Texas, and by 1856 they were living in Kosse, Texas.

After her husband's death, Minerva operated a hotel in Rockdale, Texas. When she retired she went to Corsicana, Texas and lived with her son
James Thomas Childress until her death in 1926.

Minerva is buried in Corsicana, Texas, and her husband is buried in Kosse, Texas.

Notes on Eliza Jane Childress

She is buried in Lot 7 of Block 5, Section E, Space 5. Her service was handled by Sloan & Harveson, which is now called Thompson Harveson &
Cole and their phone number is (817) 336-0345. Please come to the front desk of the funeral home and we will gladly prepare a map for you.
