PROVIDENCE CHURCH BULLETIN

April 7, 2013 Todays Scripture: Ephesians Message from Pastor Troy This morning we begin a new series through the book of Ephesians. In this study God wants to meet with us and help us gain a settled confidence in our identity in Him. This identity allows us to live radical, counter cultural lives of joy, in the midst of a cultural that constantly feeds us lies about who we are, and what we are to value. FAMILY WORSHIP GUIDE Ephesians 1:1-14 Introduction: Too often, Gods people are trying to build their identity based on the values of society, rather than receiving their identity from God. Ephesians helps us grasp who we are in Christ. The result according to chapters 4-6, is a countercultural life that rebels against the harmful and destructive lies of society. Discussion: How do people struggle with who they are and what they want out of life? Explanation: What three different words does Paul use to identify Christians (including himself) in verse 1-2? How would you compare spiritual wealth and material wealth? (1:3) What is the divine outcome of Gods choosing us? (1:5-6; 1:12; 1:14) What are some of the ways Gods grace is lavished on us in verses 3-14? Why would Paul use in Christ over 200 times to describe believers? Application: How do lies about who we are, bring harm and damage to our life? What would happen if a person received their identity from God, rather than trying to build one on their own? What are the most tempting lies for you to believe about who you, or your position in life, that are contrary to who you are in Christ?

Fight verse: 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.
