Dont worry, my child. Your problem is very simple. It is how to find the measure of angles in perpendicular lines? I will provide you some cards that will help you how to find the measure of angles in perpendicular lines. First, you should know what is the meaning of perpendicular lines and the solution for finding the measure of angles in perpendicular lines. You can find this in your activity card, you are given some examples on how to find the measure of angles in perpendicular lines.
To find out whether you understand the process or not, theres an exercise for you to answer in the next card, the Assessment Card. If you successfully answer the next card, the Enrichment Card. If you interested to know more about the topic, you may use the Reference Card.

II. Activity Card What is Perpendicular Lines? Perpendicular Lines is two lines that intersect to form a right angle.
Can you give an example of perpendicular lines? A netball post sticking up out of the ground.

What is the solution for finding the measure of angle in perpendicular lines? In the figure mBEO= 35, BODO, mBOD= 90, then mEOD= mDOB-mBEO= 55. Hence, mEOD= 55.

Come with me. Lets find out how to determine if the two lines are perpendicular. Lets have some examples! Example 1: Test the two lines to see if they are perpendicular. y = 5x 3 y=-1/5 x+2

Solution: Step 1: Draw two lines for the two Equations.

Solution: Step 1: Draw two lines for the two Equations.

Step 2: Find the slope of the two equations. The slope of the first equation, m1 = 5. The slope of the second equation, m2 = 1/5. Step 3: For two (nonvertical) lines to be perpendicular, the condition is that the slope m2 is the negative reciprocal of m1. The negative reciprocal of m1 = 5 is 1/5 which is m2. Thus, the two lines are perpendicular.

Take the next example!!!!

Take the next example!!!!

Example 2: Show that two lines 2x-y= -8 and x+2y= 4 are perpendicular. Reduce each equation to the slope-intercept form: 2x-y= -8 x+2y= 4 -y= -2x-8 2y= -x+4 y=2x=8 y= -1/2 x+2

Example 2: Show that two lines 2x-y= -8 and x+2y= 4 are perpendicular. Reduce each equation to the slope-intercept form: 2x-y= -8 x+2y= 4 -y= -2x-8 2y= -x+4 y=2x=8 y= -1/2 x+2

m1 = 2 m2 = -1/2 Since m1 m2 =2(-1/2)= -1, the two lines

are perpendicular.

m1 = 2 m2 = -1/2 Since m1 m2 =2(-1/2)= -1, the two lines

Remember this!! Perpendicular Lines is two lines that intersect to form a right angle The two lines are perpendicular if and only if the product of their slopes is equal to negative reciprocal or equivalently the slope of one line is the negative reciprocal of the slope of the other line.
