A program of OZARKS Food Harvest

We will serve kid-friendly lunches for all kids 18 years and younger and their parents/guardians. We will need lots of volunteers, and rookies are welcome! The work is not difficult, and we have fun being a blessing to the kids and their families. Plan to join the fun, and watch for volunteer sign-up sheets. If you would like more information about the program before you sign up, please see Sharan in the church office. Thanks to everyone for your prayers and support.

This is the May and June newsletter, so I spent time thinking of what all was coming up in the next two months.WOW.Mothers Day, Fathers Day, the start of Kids Caf, VBS, baby showers, the end of school, the Community Carnival, partnering with One Sole Purpose, graduations, the World Changers trip, Family Dedication.. I am amazed at how full the calendar is. The thought occurred to me that all these have to do with beginnings.a new unit, new faces, new lives, a new mission opportunity, a new school grade, etc. These are all very visible signs of upcoming new opportunities in our lives. However, when you think about it, God gives us new opportunities with every moment we are alive. It depends on us what we will do with those moments. Children, especially, have ahead of them unlimited possibilities, exciting new discoveries, friends yet to be made, and ultimatelynew life in Christ. May you feel Gods arms around you as you experience each new moment He gives you! ~ Jeanne Carpenter,jcarpenter@nationalheights.org

Focus on Jane Brown I was born and raised in Springfield. East Ave/NHBC is only church Ive known. I am the fourth of five kids (three brothers and one sister--18 years between the oldest and youngest- poor Mom and Dad)! I have been helping with children since high school-ish. My mom was Childrens Church Director, Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher, etc., so I guess I followed in her footsteps-- or was forcibly dragged.ha! Hobbies include reading romance, because I enjoy the emotional drama when assured of a happy ending. Havent done it for a while, but I like hardanger ( a type of embroidery/needle work) and a little cross stitch and crochet. I need to start doing them again. I have been married to my husband, Bradley, for almost 22 years. We have a daughter, Morgan (17), and a son, Marshall (13). We have a chocolate Lab, named Bailey, who weighs 125 pounds! We also have four cats. Thor and Loki are siblings, and are almost a year old. Thanks to Janice Mitchell for these, who brought kittens to the rummage sale last year! The other two are named Rainbow and Friday. Friday was a stray, found by my friend, Karen, while she was in Bosnia. I enjoy working with children because you never know what kids are going to do or say, and many times it is more profound than adults because it is heartfelt and without bias.

Baby Showers
You are invited to a baby shower for Sherry Reid on Saturday, May 18, at 10:00 at the church. The baby is a girl expected in early July. Sherry has not registered and indicates that any diapers or clothing would be most appreciated. Hosts for the shower are members of the Truthseekers Sunday School class. If you have questions, please see Cindy Kimmey or Belinda Herbert. Mark your calendars - Baby shower for Joshua & Suzy Roberts on June 22. Family Dedication Day is set for Sunday, May 5 during the 11:00 worship service. All families with children who have not been presented before are welcome to participate. Please call the church office with names and birthdates of children.
