JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Department: Area of Work: Date: 1 BASIC FUNCTION Supervises the installation, maintenance, repair

and testing of a wide range of electrical equipment (including LV, MV and EHV) generators, motors, transformers, cables, control panels, power distribution system including modern microprocessor based protection relays, Integrated Protection and Control Systems and associated switchgear in the plant. Monitors work execution and provides guidance to ensure conformity to statutory and Company regulations. Deals personally with more complex maintenance and participates in shutdown and turnaround maintenance and planning activities. WORK PERFORMED 2.1 2.2 Supervises the activities of assigned personnel in the section. Performs supervisory functions at the level established by Management for the position. Reviews the incoming daily work orders indicating maintenance and defect repairs required with the Planners, raises store issue vouchers (SIVs) for needed spare parts and obtains applicable work permits. Allocates work to subordinates, checks progress, provides instructions and advice as necessary and ensures that all electrical tests and runs are carried out prior to handing back equipment or systems to the Operations Department. Provides advice relating to the modification or installation of electrical appliances, equipment or wiring systems. Includes liaising with operations personnel to establish requirements, inspecting existing wiring plans and power distribution outlets, and providing related cost estimates and general information on electrical equipment and systems as required. Supervises any in-house minor projects. Supervises the testing and commissioning of new or modified equipment and systems. Participates in, and personally carries out the complex installations, repairs and maintenance of a variety of electrical equipment and systems. Includes work on electric motors, power tools and the electrical components of various items including winches, starters and pumps. Provides technical advice to subordinates and ensures proper use of tools and test equipment in the workshop, and supervises the maintenance, security and safe operation of all tools. Inspects, checks and tests completed work for conformity to statutory and Company regulations. Includes using Voltmeter, Ammeter, Ohmmeter etc. to test wiring systems, checking the installation of safety devices ensuring the correct use of cables and wires according to voltages and currents. Follows up on the installation of equipment and wiring as per plans and diagrams ensuring that repairs conform to correct methods and safety procedures. Maintains records of work performed and in progress, requisitions and work orders completed and completes and processes paper work related to electrical work, such as time sheets, materials costs, repairs and activity reports and passes on this information to Planning for updating equipment history cards. Uses MAXIMO features extensively to record manpower and material consumed for each activity. Participates in the planning and execution of major equipment turnarounds or shutdowns. Prepares work lists, reviews requests from operations or technical services personnel and assists in the development of an overall work plan for the shutdown. Supervises the removal, stripping, cleaning, repair and reassembly of all major electrical equipment included in the overhaul. Participates in the testing and start-up of overhauled equipment.

Job title : Electrical Supervisor

Inspects the work of maintenance contractors carrying out related work in the plant to ensure compliance with specific terms and conditions. Reviews regular reports provided by the contractors to assess work progress and status, highlights discrepancies or areas requiring improvement and assists them in resolving problems encountered. 2.9 Assists in the preparation of annual list of spare parts, consumable materials and special tools or test equipment. Reviews consumption, discusses interchangeability with Electrical Engineer and prepares detailed list of requirements. Assists in the receipt of materials and spare parts through the on-site inspection of delivered materials as necessary. Checks the in-system operation of alternatively supplied spare parts and provides written reports on materials not acceptable and passes to the Electrical Engineer for review. 2.10 Identifies specific training needs for National employees undergoing on-the-job training for Supervisors attention. Carries out training of trainees, developees and other subordinates in the Section to improve their skills with a clear objective of career development. 2.11 Carries out other similar or related duties as assigned, such as, ensuring the observance of safety and fire regulations, including techniques and procedures to avoid shock and that good housekeeping is practiced at all time, and ensuring that material is salvaged and reconditioned whenever possible. 2.12 Conducts Safety Talks for technicians on weekly basis and ensures the safe working conditions of his subordinates. 3 WORK CONTACTS: Internal: Daily contacts with Maintenance, Operations and Safety & Fire personnel up to Section Head level, to receive faulty equipment, discuss operational shortcomings, obtain work permits and hand back repaired equipment to Operations. External: Occasional contacts with Contractor maintenance crew to inspect work and provide direction. 4 INDEPENDENCE OF OPERATION Reports to Sr. Electrical Engineer. Carries out assignments in accordance with established work procedures and specialized technical standards. Work is subject to review and direction. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY Supervises between 5 and 6 personnel per site. PHYSICAL EFFORT Spends 70% of the work time walking, standing and using a variety of lightweight electrical tools and test equipment. MINIMUM REQUIREMENT 7 WORK ENVIRONMENT 70% of the work time is spent in a non air-conditioned plant environment, exposed to prevailing weather and operating plant condition.

1. Completion of Technical Secondary education followed by 3 years Higher Diploma in Electrical


Engineering.

2. 8 years experience in the installation, repair, testing and maintenance of a wide range of
electrical equipment, preferably in an oil/gas or petrochemical industry.
