Hope all are fine! :)

Pleasure to write this mail to one and all, this is one of the initiatives which I wish to discuss & implement. Straight away I introduce my thoughts here

Problem: IT / Non-IT Industry facing skill gap from Fresher supply

Hope you all know, I am there in Management Consulting area & keep doing lot of analysis and advisory solutions to many Tier I IT / Non-IT companies in India as well as global.

I noticed the Industry (IT & Non-IT) failing to hire freshers from the market because of lot of disconnects in terms of quality of educations, professional skills, communication skills, industry based curriculum and awareness on the job market (Demand & Supply requirements), etc.

In the recent 3-4 years (after 2008-09) it has been observed that, we have so many engineering colleges in nook & corners and supplying huge number of Freshers from engineering streams (More than 2.5 Lac only from Tamilnadu).

Just 2weeks before I was managed to conduct campus drive for one of the Tier I IT MNC Company at Coimbatore & I met about 2500 engineering freshers (2013 passouts) from 23 engineering institutes in Coimbatore (Except 3 Tier I Institutes). After few rounds of selection, only 10 students got offered for their IT Infrastructure Management group whereas in other Tier I IT Services companies offers 80-120 out of 2000 students for Development/ Testing positions

Its so sad to see our people passing out with good academic score & looking for job in the industry (Except students who has been offered by the companies).

I am sure, I know you & me can not change the system, let it work separately to give best. I thought why dont we start mull over of few initiatives to do our best since we all are becoming Subject Matter Experts on our domain.

Solutions: Streamline & bridge the skill gap

After I interviewed with many leaders from the Industry as well as Academics, I understand quite better on the expectation from supply & demand side. I thought of put forth on the skill development activities to scale up industry ready talent which help our students to gain more opportunities

I strongly believe there are two areas which we need to build this competency

1. Soft skills (Communication skills, Business English, V&A to reduce MTI, other components) 2. Creating awareness skill based demands from the industry (Here some facts, Only ~25K students entering into IT companies, 25 -40K into Non-IT & ~25K go for higher study (from Tamilnadu engineering schools out of ~2.5lac). Lets put more lights here and give some career plan to knock the opportunities)

I just given my brief thoughts here & i am also building the course curriculum on this initiatives which will be entirely different from others

I am looking for 5-7 expert help to execute to see few trials & we will also bill institutes. Here I meant Experts ... No wonder , its from our friends circle only :)

I am also looking for few leads from any institutes & where I wish to talk to them as a proposal stand point to crack it

Looking forward to your inputs & encouragement on the same ..

Please apologize i would have missed many of our people as i dont have their personal mail ID.

Thank you so much!!

Thanks & Regards Anbu

machi very sorry for the late reply... I was thought of replying with a lot of points to be discussed. do u think the problem is with students?.. do u think the problem is that the staff or teachers are not qualified?.. do u think all the educational is running for a profit?.. do u think the changing the school (1std to 12th std) system will meet the necessary condition?.. do u think any of the parents will allow their children to starting with plumbing work or electrical work in their schoolings?. do u think the parents will allow their children to schools were the school fees is just Rs. 1000 per year.... dont they think that the education will be good in a high fee paid schools?.. i am sorry i was flooded with questions.. these are all the questions i thought when i joined my college as Asst. Professor.... pleas dont mistake...

i know that there is a revolution in education system not only in india but also through out the world.... Just think of when people was washing clothes in hand and now with washing machine... and same for grinder mixy etc.... thats seems to be technology... but what just happens in the last few years... the technology didnt improved much rather the sophistication grows... like the case of mobile.. couldnt able to see many machine that works in agriculture field.... as in the case of a mobile or the different up-gradations in a desktop.... Am sorry if i impose a negative thought... just want to share few things with a right person... thats it... And I believe u wont mistake if i invite some people who will be passionate towards this initiative....

Hope u will allow me to join in the era...

And my word of confirmation.... Am IN... Regards,

Angs Ananth

Hi all, Its happy to get in contact with you all people, through this mail chain. Its now becoming common nature of all youngsters , to think about the education system and how we will be able to bring any change atleast for few students. The questionnaires are of same sort for me as Anga muthu... but I didnt shared them , as this kind of awareness are mostly pointing towards education for students at school level. Hope, I saying right. And I Could see Anbu was pointing towards, helping the students to explore and succeed in the areas of JOB hunt. SO, I thought , it wont be good to start those discussions here.. But Now, I got hope, as few people are there like me.... I would like to explore the areas the school level education system... where I could contribute at least a little...

And atlast a word , friends.... we have already started many initiatives as such before, and we dropped ... in our college days apart from KM (Congrats to the team of KM who keeps it running till days successful...)... so, better we will refine and have a few set of goal ... for this initiave...to move on If I have mentioned anything wrong, please execuse... Many of friends are there in this loop, who have already started such initiatives before... so, they can tell us the hurdles they faced and the plans we can start with.. So, Am also In (at least for sending some mails :) ) Happy May Day to you all... !

Regards, vidya
