Our Film Beneath the shadows is a part of the genera Supernatural horror.

We thought this will appeal to our target market aged 15 and above. My role of the production was the editing, filming, and taking care of the script. I did a lot of background work before I starting producing the script and then filming. I looked at codes and convections on supernatural genre but before we even picked the supernatural genre I looked at what other sub genres are there for horror, I analysed a film trailer and its poster with just supernatural genre (Beautiful creatures) and then analysed Mama with the genre matching ours of supernatural horror and the trailer final destination. I looked at locations and the health and safety. I looked at sound effects and music/ sound tracks that match our trailer. I also did came up with the concept of our trailer and made the script. I also made diary accounts, making sure I knew what I did and what I had to do next time.

I know that in horror movies there are always scenes that are usually used. In slashers theirs one of the killers is behind them watching them while they do not notice and go about doing what they were doing before. In zombie films theres always the zombies eating the humans with lots of disgusting scenes. While we chosen the genre Supernatural horror; the genre with the convections of ghost and daemons, witches and angles. In our trailer we used the convention scene where the daemon appears to come closer and closer. We used this because it is a scene because it effects the reader by them feeling scared as they feel as if it is approaching them. In supernatural genera the conventional setting is in a remote place that is scary and has lager amount of land around it. Because we live in London and there is not much land in London that has no building, so we had to come up with idea that is scary and thought about alleyways. Alleyways scare many people and even more at the night because it is a remote place and it is dark with sometimes people who live there. Also as we have a few alleyways around us we said that that will be the best location we concentrate getting our scenes filmed in. We wanted to present the image of a scary claustrophobic place where no is around. Because we know that this will affect our audience- as they will be scared of the setting which is why we chosen the alleyway, and as we are filming in the evening we have to get our setting right because the setting will set the mood for the trailer. We have many bloods shots and scenes in our trailer; this is because we wanted our audience to know that this film will contain death within it. This will scare the audience but will interest those who like the genre of horror movies. The ideology behind blood is death and killing. We wanted to show this aspect of blood which is why we show how the is splattered and dragged on the floor. To make sure our audience will appeal to this we never shown who was killed and how only that someone had died. We also contain the scene of the main character screaming. This is a convention that is used very often because it captures people attention as it shows that the character is in distress and need help to survive what she is going through. Films that have personally influenced me was the trailer beautiful creatures. Now although this film is not supernatural horror is it apart of the genera supernatural. Because this trailer has many different camera angles and shots and credits, it inspired me a lot to for my own trailer. The other trailer that inspired me a lot was Mama. This film is a apart of supernatural

horror. The trailer does not give the secret away but keeps their audience at the edge of their seats which is why I wanted to make a trailer like that. During pre production I was coming up with different ideas to make out audience feel as if they would want to watch this film. I designed the script to work out as a mini movie at first and then I took parts from that and added other scenes to the trailer to form the trailer. Because trailers are short and quick I wanted to make my audience feel scared within the short time period. Which Is why I took the most effective scenes that I thought will scare the audience and came up with the trailer for my film. Post predictions had many pressure on many individuals. There were many things to look at before we started filming however with the time we had we had to break it down and individuals had to take over things. As a group we said that we will be filming out of school. So this left us to film after school because firstly we could not film outside school premises without filming in our own time and secondly we could not film during the morning as we wanted the setting to be at the evening as this will set the mood for our trailer. We had problems filming after school as at times not all of us could be there. Which is why I took over filming from Gulbahar and at times Nadia had to act on her own as she had to improvise when Samira was not there. Alternatively filming did come handy as I picked up lodes of skill on editing scenes and making the image look dark as it is the evening and learnt little effects can really make a trailer look better. I alternatively had to have cast sessions with the new requirement casts that I asked to be in our trailer. Although this is something that we have not planed, I think this was very beneficial as it really make me feel like a director and I think it helped me build up leadership skills and team work skills, because I was directing where and how the new cast should act and where they should be standing at. But I also had to cooperate with them, so that by working together I could get the acting right. Filming was very enjoyable; we got many of the scenes done on the first three week but had not filmed from different angles to present our trailer in, as there was many other things that our group members were doing which is why I had to make them do it again, with scenes which I thought can be more effective with different angles. While production was going on we all thought about different ways to add to our storyline to make the trailer more effective and so it could appeal to our audience. During editing we had many issues on using the Mac books. While most of us did not know how to use it, I had to learn how to edit and to use the Mac books to help our group finish the trailer off. I picked up quite quickly how to change the different effects on the scenes but the problem was when it came to sound. Importing sound took a long time because I had to change the format of the sound to make the sound appropriate to Itunes. Deciding the sound effect and the sound track was very difficult because firstly you had to imagine how it will fit in with the trailer and I had to find what was most appropriate for the scenes at the right time. I first researched on horror movies and then I looked at their sound tracks individually. Mama was the best sound track that I thought will suite our trailer, because of it sounds creepy and sinister. This is why I thought that it will go perfect with our trailer.

The trailer is about a shadow like creature called the Deavea. It is seeking vengeance and taking lifes because it wants to survive. It comes across two girls and now has made them the next victims. I think that my group was vey enthusiastic at the begging and then when it came to doing the work they lacked on their enthusiasm and found it difficult on doing it, some put it a lot of effort than others.

My favourite shot in the trailer is when the shadow is coming alive. This is because it is interesting because it is different. Also with the sound effect of the little girl, really emphasise the creatures shape shifting. Our target audience was within the age range of 15 and over. I think we successfully reached them as the trailer contains gory images. The BBFC (British Board Of Film Classification) states that Many horror films are rated 15. At 15 there can be strong threat and menace (as long as it is not sadistic or sexualised), although the strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable. We use danger as for the film to appeal to 15 year olds as the teenage mind appeals to scary things and having an adrenaline rush. Our trailer keeps the audience at their toe which is why I think we successfully meat our criteria for our target market. The main lessons that I will take away from this experience is that I have learnt how to use a mac book and Imovies in particular. I learnt how to edit scenes and edit sounds. If I was to do this again I will definitely think about who I would work with as I was left with most of the work during this project.
