Project Title: Media Promotions Database Title of Volunteer Role: Media Promotions Database Developer Projects Purpose &

Organisations Mission: Tourism is by far the most significant activity in the Borough of Queenscliffe, accounting for at least 45% of the local economy and contributes to the viability of 275 local businesses. Supporting this industry is vital to the community and the Queenscliff Visitor Information Centres (QVIC) key focus and purpose. The QVIC plays a major role in the promotion of the area by providing information to the 46,500 people who visited the centre each year. The primary purpose of this project is to develop a media database of free communication channels eg Denise Walters community Noticeboard on 3AW. This database will then be used by the Visitor Information Centre Co-Ordinator to promote events within the Borough of Queenscliffe and to broadcast other relevant public notices. Required Qualifications/Experience: Highly developed computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook) Experience and knowledge of using the Internet as a research tool Excellent written communication skills would be considered advantageous Estimated Time Commitment: Approximately 24 hours. For example: 2 hours per week or 8 hours per month flexible to suit both parties Position description: Researching and developing a list of media outlets that are for community use free of charge. Information required would include contact details, deadline times, distribution channels applicable for our local and Melbourne markets Compiling and entering this information in to a database (Excel) Outcomes of Project: Completions of a database for use by QVIC to promote free of charge, local events to the Intrastate market especially the Melbourne audience via print and radio mediums Benefits: 1. Location: You are welcome to work at the QVIC and computer access and a place to work in our office will be provided. Alternatively you can work from home.
