Junior Research Fellowships at Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy Annual Fellowship Applications

Are you: a recent graduate or about to graduate from a prestigious law school in 2013? passionate about legal policy, public administration, governance, institutional reform and law-making? looking to gain practical experience and exposure working on cutting edge research and policy work at the highest levels of government in India? interested in spending 1 year working in the New Delhi in collaboration with some of the brightest legal and academic minds in the country on issues of immense public significance?

The Fellowship The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy ("Vidhi"), a newly established legal think-tank invites applications from suitable candidates for two posts of "The Vidhi Junior Research Fellow of Law and Policy" (VJRF) a fully-paid and full-time one-year fellowship based out of Vidhi's offices in New Delhi. Projects handled by VJRFs will fall in the following four thematic areas: Public law including constitutional law, administrative law and human rights; environmental law; international law including WTO law, international arbitration and public international law; commercial laws specifically financial sector regulation and criminal law. Our clients include leading institutions in the public sector (ministries, independent commissions and departments and regulatory bodies at both central and state level) and the private sector (Chambers of Commerce, NGOs and civil society organisations). At this point, applications are invited from candidates with expertise and experience in any of the aforesaid four thematic areas. VJRFs will be an integral member of the Vidhi team during the duration of the fellowship working as a research fellow on select Vidhi projects. Administrative reporting will be directly to the Senior Resident Fellows of Vidhi. Remuneration and Benefits Monthly salary: Competitive (with a minimum of `35,000 per month subject to qualifications and experience) Duration of the Fellowship: 1 year commencing on 1 December 2013 with possibility for renewal for 1 additional year Eligibility Criteria Candidates will need to:

show consistent academic excellence; have an extremely strong undergraduate law degree from a leading Indian or overseas university; demonstrate a passion for law-making, legislation and policy research; have excellent command over English and demonstrable written and oral communication skills; be able to work well in a team.
