INTRODUCTION
Car Plant Pitesti was borned in 1966, at Colibasi, Arges. After signing a licence contract with Renault in 1968 the Romanian state began producing Dacia 1100 under the R8 licence followed in 1969 by Dacia 1300 under R12 licence. Between 1970-1980 Dacia has developed a large scale of models, pickups and cars for all types of people. Beginning with 1978 Car Plant Pitesti goes on with producing derivative cars from R12 Renault scale. 1995 is marked by the launching of the first 100 % Romanian conception car, Dacia Nova, and by the launching of the enterprise into an output and strategy society and 7 commercial branches. In 1998 was made the car n 2.000.000, the enterprise obtained the Certificate of Certifying the Quality Sistem Introduction and registered the production record (106.000 units). On the 2-nd of July 1999, Dacia sold the majority of shares, became a mark of Renault Group and had as a principal supporting mission the development of group on the competitive markets. In 2000 takes place the bringing out of Dacia SuperNova, the first comeing true of the France-Romania co-operation, a car equipped with engine and speed box Renault. Dacia and Renault have a lot of targets in common: making a new vehicle meant to competitive markets, the enlargement of productivity and making vehicles with Renault quality and low prices.

Since 1999, the industrial equipment of Dacia plant knew a complete process of modernization. With a 489 millions of euro investment, Dacia plant has the highest European standards, with working methods applied in Renault plant. Dacia, Romanian company but of international amplitude, member of Renault Group, has an effective force of 10.000 employees. It has a genuine binational, even international culture. Comfort and security


Compact and nimble for city use, the Logan is 3.4 m long, 1.6 m wide and 1.5 m high. With more than enough room for four passengers (and five in a squeeze), Renault Logan is a massive step in the right direction towards improving interior and build quality. It may lack the soft-touch plastic coating on the dashboard, but the design looks solid and the layout straightforward. Even for a truly budget vehicle, Dacia-Renault have inserted some mock-aluminum trim to brighten up the Logans center console. Engines:
The vehicle is available from launch with four high-performance engines that are frugal on fuel and respect the environment : petrol engines include the 127 bhp DIN 1.8i 16V unit mated to a manual 5-speed gearbox, along with the 143 bhp DIN 2.0i 16V with the 6-speed electronic gearbox system or depending on the country a 4-speed automatic two diesels, both fitted as standard with a particulate filter (DPFS), of which the 110 bhp HDi DPFS mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or the 6-speed electronic gearbox system, and the 138 bhp HDi DPFS with the 6-speed electronic gearbox system or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Considerable effort was devoted to the structure of the Logan in order to comply with the most stringent passive safety assessment standards. The structure was reinforced using highstrength steel to limit deformation in the event of impact. To limit the consequences of pedestrian impact, the Logan is fitted with: - boot and wings designed to crumple, with ample space between the panels - bumpers fitted with polyurethane foam that absorb energy in such a way as to reduce injury to the legs. The Logan is fitted as standard with two front airbags (driver and passenger), two front side airbags and two front/rear curtain airbags. The two front airbags are adaptive, with deployment pressure and volume correlated with the severity of the impact.All the seats in the Logan are fitted with safety belts with three anchor points. Driver and front passenger belts also feature pyrotechnic pretensioners and load limiters, to reduce pressure on the chest in the event of impact. Daily Dacia Company produces 30 Logan automobiles with LOK, and launched in his whole comercial network, the model Logan (Preference 1.4 MPI si Laureate 1.4 MPI), is available in alternative charging variant, petrol/GPL. DISTRIBUTION

Logan was developed entirely by Renault over the past four years, using all engineering expertise department. The use of the design-to-cost method in designing the vehicle, carry-over of parts to optimize reliability and running costs, and digital design made it possible to meet the very low programme costs set at the start of the project. Production of Logan at Dacias Pitesti plant has started the programme in Romania in 2004.In 2005 it continue in Russia, then Morocco and Colombia, and in 2006 in Iran. Assembly of Logan in Russia, Morocco and Iran has use CKD parts supplied by the Pitesti pilot site, with some mechanical components supplied by Renaults industrial sites. In addition to these countries, other international prospects are opening up for the X90 project. Logan is a 100% Renault car (technology, development, chassis, powertrain, manufacturing standards), particularly suited to its target markets. Its modernity, reasonable price, loading capacity, five full-size seats and ease of repairs and maintenance are its key strengths. Logan will carry the Renault badge in some markets, such as Russia and Iran, underscoring the companys faith in the product

Whether the Dacia or Renault badge is used will depend on the characteristics of each market and on how long and in what circumstances Renault has been established there. The Dacia brand helped to conquer new customer target groups. Dacia, with its new brand identity as a modern, ambitious company and new badge, will be selling a range of modern, 16

robust, reliable and affordable vehicles. In the countries of Central Europe, as well as in Turkey, northern Africa, the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa, Logan is marketed under the Dacia brand to round out Renaults range. It is positioned in the entry-level segment, which in a country like Poland accounts for 30% of the total market and is hardly covered by the current Renault range. After Romania, Central Europe is the focus for Logan sales, with the backing of the Renault network. Renault was the second top-selling brand in the region in 2003, with market share of 11%. A sales manager is appointed specifically for the brand in each country. Distribution is handled by the Renault network's partners. Depending on the market, Logan is sold by a Renault dealer with a Dacia area featuring special signage or in a Dacia showroom. A two-year warranty will apply in most countries. Distribution by the Renault network is reassuring for customers, offering them the best possible level of services. Maintenance and repairs at shared RenaultDacia workshops provide a further guarantee of optimum quality. Marketing of Logan will be backed up by a range of services covering sales, finance and aftersales. Specific finance offers have been devised by RCI Banque. From 2005 the future Renault-Nissan spare parts centre in Gyr, Hungary,has become a regional hub for supplying Dacia spare parts to the countries of Central Europe. Logan has enjoyed equally good results on its export markets, which represented 22% of all Logan sales so far in 2004. Only on sale for two months in Croatia (October),Serbia, Macedonia and Slovakia (October), Hungary (October ), the Czech Republic (October ) and Turkey (November ), Logan has realised a remarkable performance with 4,264 cars sold. Sales of 2,456 in November 2004 alone made it Dacias top selling export model in 2004. Logan is also manufactured in Russia, where 25,000 vehicles were produced from April 2005 to May 2006, as well as Morocco and Colombia. Production has soon started in Iran,followed by India and Brazil last year,in 2007.

Renault is investing 230 million euro to make Logan in Russia and sell the car there from mid-2005. The production unit, was installed in the Moscow plant of Avtoframos, a subsidiary jointly owned by Renault and Moscow City Authorities, have capacity of 60,000 vehicles per year. Renault plans to invest 22 million euro to make Logan at the SOMACA plant in Morocco from the second half of 2005. Production of 30,000 vehicles a year is envisaged, with some going for export. The Renaults made in Colombia are sold through a network of 41 dealers. Renault also sells imported vehicles that supplement the range assembled locally. Logan is assembled at the Sofasa plant in Colombia since 2005. It is marketed under the Renault brand in Colombia, and from 2006 in some neighbouring countries. Designed to meet the needs of customers in the new growth markets, Logan has risen to the challenge. The modern, reliable and roomy car has attracted customers the world over and some 267,000 Logans were sold between September 2004 and May 2006. It is proving highly popular

in countries in which it is marketed, in particular Western Europe, where it was launched in eight countries, including France, in the spring of 2005. Logan sales worldwide break down into 56% in Western Europe, including Romania, 20% in Europe (26 countries, including France, which accounts for 7% of world sales), 10% in Russia/CIS, 5% in Turkey, 5% in the Maghreb countries and 4% in the rest of the world (Americas, Asia, Africa). 2006 marked a new stage in the life of the X90, the code name for Logan and its derivativem versions. The Logan Steppe Concept show car presented at the Geneva motor show is the harbinger of an extension of the line. The 1.5 dCi engine is now available in Central, Eastern and Western Europe as well as in Turkey, Morocco and Algeria. The diesel version thus represents at the end of May 2006, 55% of the mix in France and 21% in the other countries in Western Europe. Advertising
Dacia has chosen the 2004 Geneva Motor Show to unveil its first-ever show car produced by Renault Design. Especially for Logan there is a big advertising campaign with all the ingredients for a national hit : there are TV STARS like Andreea Balan, Andreea Banica, Anka Badiu, Miki and Delia that are promoting the brand and a contest is going on to attract as many people as possible. Renault started to run an advertising campaign on Vest Europe in 2005. The headline of the campaign is Be Logical, Be Logan. For the production of the video spot the romanian Graffiti BBDO agency was chosen. A crew of 40 people worked for 4 days to make the motion picture. The message of the spot is simple: Big on space, low on cost Logan is one of the biggest bargains the world has seen in the car market, offering the same space available in a Toyota Corolla for a fraction of its price.
