GPS BASED VEHICLE FUEL MANAGEMENT

ABSTRACT
Wireless communication has announced its arrival on big stage and the world is going mobile. We want to control everything and without moving an inch. This remote control of appliances is possible through Embedded Systems. The use of Embedded System in Communication has given rise to many interesting applications that ensures comfort and safety to human life.

Today vehicles are the common mode of transportation and travelling, and the demand is increasing day by day. This is a project used to identify the exact position of a vehicle. Here we aim to implement a project to continuously sense the amount of fuel of the vehicle by using a fuel sensor and if it is less then it can display the details of nearest fuel pump. INTRODUCTION
Microcontrollers have become the basic block in every automation system, system with microcontrollers have become omnipresent. The advantage microcontroller system comes with are: easy system design, wide variety to choose from, very low cost etc. here use pic16f877a microcontroller Today vehicles are the common mode of transportation and travelling, and the demand is increasing day by day. This is a project used to identify the exact position of a vehicle. Here we aim to implement a project to continuously sense the amount of fuel of the vehicle by using a fuel sensor and if it is less then it can display the details of nearest fuel pump. It is done by using the technologies are GPS and GSM. GPS based vehicle monitoring system give you 24-hour secure access to all your vehicle or special machinery, tracking, reporting and management information, from any PC in any part of the world.

PIC16F877A
Available now our exciting new range of inexpensive controller boards, ideal for standard embedded applications and incorporating into machinery, control systems and robots. Our new PIC16F877 Controller board features the powerful Microchip PIC16F877 Microcontroller, one of the most popular microcontrollers on the market. Combined into a easy to use and ready to run board complete with all the necessary components for plugging directly into your system. The PIC16F877 Microcontroller includes 8kb of internal flash Program Memory, together with a large RAM area and an internal EEPROM. An 8-channel 10-bit A/D convertor is also included within the microcontroller, making it ideal for realtime systems and monitoring applications. All port connectors are brought out to standard headers for easy connect and disconnect. In-Circuit program download is

also provided, enabling the board to be easily updated with new code and modified as required, without the need to remove the microcontroller.

GSM MODEM
A GSM modem is a specialized type of modem which accepts a SIM card, and operates over a subscription to a mobile operator, just like a mobile phone. From the mobile operator perspective, a GSM modem looks just like a mobile phone. A GSM modem can be a dedicated modem device with a serial or USB connection, or it may be a mobile phone that provides GSM modem capabilities. Most of the GSM cellular modems come with an integrated SIM card holder. AT or attention commands are used to interface GSM modem with PIC microcontroller.

GPS module
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is the only fully functional Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) in the world. It consists of up to 32 medium Earth orbit satellites in six different orbital planes, with the exact number of satellites varying as older satellites are retired and replaced. A GNSS allows small electronic receivers to determine their location (longitude, latitude, and altitude) to within a few meters using time signals transmitted along a line of sight by radio from satellites. Receivers on the ground with a fixed position can also be used to calculate the precise time as a reference for scientific experiments. The GPS uses a constellation of betwee

DISPLAY
Display section is the important section of my project. There are a number of display systems available now days. In this project we use a 16* 2 Liquid Crystal Display. A liquid crystal is a material usually, an organic component which flows like a liquid at room temperature but whose molecular structure has some properties normally associated with solids. An LCD consists of two glass panels, with the liquid Crystal material sandwiched in between them. When sufficient voltage is applied to the electrodes, the liquid crystal molecules would be aligned in a specific direction. The light rays passing through the LCD would be rotated by the polarizer, which would result in activating/highlighting the desired characters.

POWER SUPPLY SECTION

The ac voltage, typically 220V is connected to a transformer, which steps that ac voltage down to the level of the desired dc output. A diode rectifier then provides a full wave rectified voltage that is initially filtered by a simple capacitor filter to produce a dc voltage. This dc voltage usually has some ripples. A regulator circuit removes the ripples and its output is constant even if the input voltage changes or the load connected changes. For this project we need a 5V dc regulated supply, so we uses 7805 regulator IC.

FUEL SENSOR (Float Switch)

Magnetic switch / Read switch No contact with Water / Shock proof Can be used to Detect any Liquid level Application Fuel level Controllers

Working

Float is free Movement As shown in FIG When Float is free O/p will be Open NO When the Float is in UP with Liquid - O/p will be Closed NC Easy to Fix using Wiring Pipes Available in Electrical Shops Max Output Load - 500MA
