Enercon Engineerings Bi-Fuel System is suitable for all high-speed engines. Allowing industrial diesel engines to operate on 50% - 75% of natural gas, propane, biogas, or landfill gas. With no modifications of the engine required, smooth transition between diesel and gas fuels is completely automated over entire load range with no loss of power.

Natural gas is metered into the air stream by a gas/air blender installed before the engine turbocharger(s). Enercon Engineering control system continuously modulates the gas over the entire load range - given any required engine load and speed - while always protecting the engine as a first priority. In order to protect against engine pre-detonation or knocking, Enercons NoKnock knock detector/controller enables engine operation at the most efficient gas-to-diesel ratio.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
System for conversion of industrial diesel engines to bi-fuel operation by substitution of 50 to 75 percent natural gas for diesel. Suitable for all genset engines and engine drive packages, 1200 to 1800 rpm. No negative impact on genset transient response or load pickup. No reduction of engine power or efficiency. Smooth transition between diesel and bi-fuel operation at any time. Gas and air are blended by a central mixer, behind the air filter and before the turbocharger(s). State-of-the-art electronics maximize the amount of injected gas, while keeping all engine parameters within defined safe operating limits as specified by engine manufacturer.. No modifications to internal engine components are required.
ECONOMIC BENEFITS
Substantial fuel savings - $$$ Up to 70% - 80% fuel substitution rate Save money on commissioning and testing fuel Very short investment payback period No major equipment modifications necessary No de-rating of system power output Fuel flexibility: of bi-fuel or all-diesel operation Smaller on-site fuel storage quantities Reduced diesel fuel conditioning costs More environmentally friendly emissions profile Longer engine life Longer service intervals.

EMISSIONS
The Enercon Engineering bi-fuel system provides a green solution that reduces overall engine emissions and eliminate the need for expensive after-treatment in attainment areas, especially with the use of a catalyst to reduce the increased CO (catalysts will likely be required in 2013 pursuant to RICE-NESHAP for non-standby engines). As bi-fuel conversion changes engine emissions, converted bi-fuel engines will likely need to be site-certified in accordance with NSPS (New Source Performance Standards) as is done on all new gas engines and on existing gas engines retrofitted with AFR controls.

Enercon Engineering can also provide continuous monitoring solutions with integrated data logging to assure emissions compliance.

For over three decades, Enercon Engineering has been a leader in the worldwide power generation industry. Enercon has built a solid reputation for integrity, high quality, and expertise in the design and manufacturing of engine generator controls, switchgear, packages & enclosures, and cogeneration units.
CONTROL SYSTEMS At the heart of any power generation system is the performance and reliability of the control systems. While control systems are often integrated into the switchgear lineup, other options include: FREE STANDING CONTROL LINEUP CONTROL CONSOLES WALL MOUNTED PACKAGING & ENCLOSURES Enercon custom engineered power generation packages and enclosures either diesel or natural gas fueled, standard shipping containers or small trailers, weather proof or sound attenuated, mobile or skid mounted can meet your needs and specifications. SWITCHGEAR Enercon is a leading manufacturer of custom designed switchboards, switchgear, and controls. Enercon is a UL client company and can provide UL listing on equipment to certify compliance with UL-508A, UL-891, UL-1558,ANSI C37.20.1, and ANSI C37.20.2 standards. COGENERATION, COMBINED HEAT & POWER In addition to generating electric power, Cogeneration and CHP (Combined Heat & Power) increases fuel efficiency by harnessing useful heat energy for various purposes from a single engine without increasing operating costs. Recovered heat utilization applications can include direct space heating, water heating, process heat, material drying/curing, steam or pre heat for steam, and absorption chilling for air conditioning or refrigeration. COMPREHENSIVE TESTING All Enercon custom engineered and manufactured controls & switchgear are 100% tested in our factory test center prior to shipment. This comprehensive test center also enables us to offer a full range of testing services on all Enercon products including customer witness testing, performance testing, system testing with switchgear, paralleling tests.
