INSTRUCTIONS FOR PLACING AN INTERLIBRARY LOAN REQUEST

SET UP A USER ACCOUNT


1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Go to http://law.richmond.edu/library Click on Interlibrary Loan under Quick Links. Enter your NetID and password Fill out the form with your personal information Click on Submit You will be redirected to the main page for your Interlibrary Loan account.

MAKE A REQUEST
1. 2. Once you are logged into your Interlibrary Loan Account, select one of the request types listed under New Request. You can choose from: a. Book b. Book Chapter c. Article d. Statute e. Other Please try NOT to use the Other request form unless the request will absolutely not fit into one of the other categories. Fill in as much information as possible about the item you are requesting. (Red asterisks indicate required fields.) JOURNALS!!! In the Notes field, please enter the name of your journal. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS and RESEARCH ASSISTANTS!!! In the Notes field, please enter the name of the faculty member who has made the request. (You will get all subsequent notifications Please forward to the appropriate faculty member.) Click on Submit Request

TRACKING YOUR REQUESTS


1. 2. Under View, click on Outstanding Requests to see a list of requests that are being processed and their current statuses. If the library is unable to fill a request, you will be notified via e-mail. You can also view cancelled requests in your Interlibrary Loan account. (View Cancelled Requests)

RECEIVING BOOKS (STUDENTS)


1. 2. 3. 4. You will be notified via e-mail when your requested book arrives. The book will be available for pick-up from the Law Library Circulation Desk. The book will include a slip indicating the books due date. Please return all books to Gail Zwirner by the date indicated.

RECEIVING BOOKS (FACULTY)


1. 2. 3. 4. Your book will be routed to your faculty mailbox. You will be notified via e-mail when your requested book has been delivered. The book with include a paper slip indicating the books due date. Please return all books to Gail Zwirner by the date indicated.

RENEWING BOOKS
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Log into you Interlibrary Loan account. Under View, click on Checked Out Items Click on Renew Item at the top of the page. Renewals may not be granted for all materials. Please return all books to Gail Zwirner by the renewal date.

RECEIVING AN ARTICLE, BOOK CHAPTER, OR STATUTE


1. 2. 3. 4. 5. You will be notified via e-mail when the requested item is available for viewing. To view the item, log into you Interlibrary Loan Account. Under View, click on Electronically Received Articles Click on View for the item that you wish to access. The article/book chapter/statute will be available via your Interlibrary Loan Account for 30 days.
