Carbon Steel RHS and Pipe

Manufacturing standards
RHS & Pipe is manufactured by cold forming and electric resistance welding and is tested
to meet the following Australian Standards.

S11
Structural
Hollow sections to be used for structural purposes are manufactured to meet;
AS1163-1991 Structural Steel Hollow Sections
(Grade C350, C450, C350LO, C450LO).
Coatings
Electrogalvanized coating applied to ALLGAL hollow sections complies to the following
standard;
AS 4750 (INT) 2000 Electrogalvanized (zinc) coating on ferrous hollow sections.
Mechanical
Hollow sections to be used for mechanical purposes are manufactured to meet;
AS1450-1983 Steel Tubes for Mechanical Purposes
(Grade C350, C450 ERW).
Pipe for water/gas reticulation

Pipe to be used for low pressure water/gas reticulation are manufactured to meet;
AS1074-1989 Steel Tubes and Tubulars for ordinary service.
It also covers the requirements for threading.
Note: This product is not meant for use in high pressure applications.

Coating/Surface finish
The ALLGAL Family
The ALLGAL family refers to tube and pipe that has the special ALLGAL duplex coating.
The ALLGAL products are manufactured from hot rolled steel strip thats electrogalvanized on both sides in
Orrcons state-of-the-art electrogalvanizing plant. This process applies an even, continuous coating of zinc to
steel. The strip is then formed into tube and welded along the seam.
The welded area is recoated with a zinc/aluminium alloy to replace the material that the welding has burnt
away. The external surface of the tube is coated with a special clear polymer coating called Clear-Tec. It is the
combined action of the electrogalvanized and polymer coatings that gives the product a duplex coating, and
unlike traditional prime painted tubulars, the ALLGAL system, also offers a protective electrogalvanized coating
on the inside.
The ALLGAL family refers to tube and pipe that has the special ALLGAL duplex coating. ALLGAL has a total
minimum zinc coating weight (total amount distributed over both surfaces) of 100g/m2. A top coat of Clear-Tec
is then externally applied.

In-line process RHS - Blue, Pipe - Black/Red
Product also available in Clear-Tec and NOPC on request. Ex-rolling.

Re-painting
Paint over with conventional solvent based or water based paints. Following normal surface preparations and
paint manufacturing recommendations.
