Sample answer To : The Principal of SMK Bukit Beras From : Arifin Ahmad Title : A Report on the Lack of Interest in Sports among the Students of SMK Bukit Beras

It is often that we see unhealthy students in our school which include Merits obese, underweight and under developed. Our athletes are under performing and our football team faced a terrible loss during the last championship. Besides, many of my friends are not interested in sports. I am sure as the principal; you must be examples of concerned about this matter. Therefore, I have recently conducted a survey among complex sentences the students. Hot weather, dirty and sweaty as well as occasionally being sunburned was among the excuses given by the students that I met. This negative attitude towards sports was further highlighted when a male friend of mine said he preferred being at home, watching television or surfing the net. The girls told me they disliked sports, some said they were lazy to exercise. Most of them never had any sorts of exercise whereas a small number of boys said that they exercise once in every two weeks. This is not sufficient as a growing teenager requires three periods of exercise weekly. Another reason given was the lack of time in their daily routine. Examples of Too much homework seemed to be taking up their precious time. Besides, longer compound sentences school hours plus many co-curricular societies such as uniformed bodies, hold extra meetings on weekends When I turned to the parents, the answers were pretty much the same. Academic performance seems to be the first thing on their priority list. They give too much emphasis on academic performance and look down on sports and games. When asked, they say that only excellent results could ensure a safe and successful Long sentence future. With their parents sending them for tuition classes, workshops and seminars at every possible opportunity, it has become very difficult for them to make time for leisure, let alone sports. Yes, this does generate excellent academic results, but as an academic institution, the aim is to produce a balanced individual. Patched fields, broken hockey sticks and worn-out sports equipment are a common sight in our school. To add to the misery, we do not even have enough equipment. Our fields and courts are in poor condition and unmaintained. This was also given as an excuse by the students when asked why they disliked sports. According to them, the poor condition of the field is a complete turn-off when they want to play football. Some even say that there are so few equipments, even sharing could not help. Many students submitted complaints regarding the matter but so far no action was taken. To overcome this matter, I have formulated a few suggestions for consideration. Firstly, the school should stress more of the importance of sports in our school to motivate the students. This message should be delivered by somebody in authorities like the principal himself or the Senior Assistant of

Students Affair as it would have greater impact on the students. Secondly, teachers could have dialogue with the parents during the next Parents-Teacher Association meeting and encourage them to instill interest in sports in their children. On top of that, the school could improve the sports facilities for the students to use as well as hiring a qualified sports trainer to motivate the students. Both steps would go a long way towards instilling interest in the students in sports. Lastly but not the least, many competitions related to sports should be organized and attractive prizes should be offered. It is clear that the interest in sports among students is fading. As the principal, you have the authority to fix this matter. Knowing the importance of sports, something should be done to make the students like sports. After all, all work and no play make Jack a dull boy. At the end of the day, it would be a winwin situation (). The students live a healthier life and the schools name will rise to national standards.
