EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY EAST HANTS MUNICIPAL TOWN CRIER CASUAL PART-TIME (AS NEEDED)
The Municipality of East Hants is seeking a Town Crier who will take on the role of proclaiming messages on behalf of Warden and Council as well as providing a sense of excitement and pageantry to community events. This will be an appointed position that will be subject to review every two years. It is anticipated the incumbent will attend municipal events as requested by Council or the Department of Recreation & Culture. The preferred candidate will be outgoing in nature with a loud voice when required. You will be expected to have, and to develop, a good local knowledge with an understanding of the Municipality and its history, to answer queries by visitors. It is hoped you will be able to make easy conversation with anyone seeking assistance during your duties. Your cries must be in good taste and in the spirit of the role. Preference will be given to residents of the Municipality of East Hants. The application process will be done in two phases: Phase one: the written application and formal interview Phase two: Participation at the Maitland Launch days Town Crier event August 25, 2013 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm There is an honorarium attached to this position.
