CCL plans to spend 90% CSR funds to solve water crisis

Central Coalfields Limited to take up new projects GVCK to launch developmental work soon Hopeful will get more land: Posco SBI chief hopes for 0.5% rate cut in RBI policy review on June 17 Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) which acquired Miniratna in 2007 from Jharkhand in 2007, has decided to spend 90 per cent of its allocated funds from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on drinking water in 250 villages in the command areas of CCL during current financial year (2012-13). CCL chairman & managing director (CMD) Gopal Singh said at a press conference, recently, that villagers living in command areas of CCL do not have minimum facility in availing clean drinking water. Considering the alarming situation in the villages, CCL will soon start in construction of tube wells, ponds to solve the plight of the villagers, he added. Director (Personnel) CCL R R Mishra said CCL has opened a single window grievance redressal cell1in 12 areas of the company to receive complaints from the villagers as well as from the employees. Till May this year, 376 complaints were received and of them 330 complaints were already solved. CMD further said CCL all along bypassed previous year's production in coal. It has produced 48.061 million tone (MT) in 2012-13 against 48.004 MT in previous financial year (2011-120. The company has observed the financial year 2012-13 as "Dispatch Year." The company has dispatched 52.892 MT, which is 4..831 MT more than the last financial year. In the beginning of the financial year 2012-13, the coal stock of CCL was 16.327 MT, which was liquidated to 4.823 MT by March 31, 2013. CMD said the company requires forest clearance of 27 projects. Recently, Konar, North Urimari, Amrapali Magadh and Tetriyakhar Opencast mines have received environment clearance and will start mining activities shortly in these mines.
