Surveillance of Well Testing and Reporting Submission Requirements for Pressure and Deliverability Testing
Effective October 8, 2008, the Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) will be increasing its focus on the surveillance of well test data submissions to improve compliance with the existing well test submission standards described below. These well testing reporting requirements are described in Sections 11.005, 11.102, 11.120(1), and 11.145 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations and in Directive 040: Pressure and Deliverability Testing Oil and Gas Wells. Additional Initial Well Testing Surveillance Detailed data submission requirements and formats are given in Directive 040, Appendix A, Section 7. Enforcement will be enhanced with a focus on the following requirements: 1) Initial Pressure Test Gas: The final test date must be no later than 3 consecutive months after the on production date. All tests must be submitted no later than 90 days after completion of the field work. 2) Initial Pressure Test Oil: The final test date must be no later than the on production date. All tests must be submitted no later than 90 days after completion of the field work and prior to any sales. 3) Initial Drillstem Tests (DSTs): The submission date for DSTs (including misruns) must be no later than 30 days after the wells finished drilling date. 4) Deliverability Tests a) Initial Production Test (PRD): The final test date must be no later than 90 days after the on production date. b) Initial Deliverability Gas (DIG): The final test date must be no later than 3 consecutive months after the on production date. All tests must be submitted no later than 90 days after completion of the field work. Test/Production Intervals on Well Test Submissions All well test submissions must provide the test/prod. interval top and test/prod. interval base, which must be within or equal to the gross completion interval on the production string. Noncompliance with Well Testing Requirements Noncompliance with well testing requirements will continue to be handled in accordance with Directive 019: ERCB Compliance AssuranceEnforcement when data have not been supplied as specified under Sections 11.005, 11.102, 11.120(1), and 11.145 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations.

Effective October 8, 2008, in accordance with Directive 019, Directive 040, and Section 17.010 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations, a fee will be assessed if any of the submission requirements have not been met by the required due date. Notice of the required submissions is provided in the Annual Oil and Gas Pressure Survey Schedule and the Outstanding Initial Pressure and Deliverability Testing Requirements, found on the ERCB Web site.
