Ashish Hemrajani launched bookmyshow.com in 1999. A virtual box office that allows users to book their movie shows at a click of the button. Today, bookmyshow is Indias largest online entertainment ticketing venture with 90% market share. Having sold over 25 million tickets worth Rs 650 crore to date. Vision: To be leader in online movie ticketing segment. Provide online ticketing system for Movies, Plays,concerts,Sports Events and many more. 10 million visit the site , 2 + million Facebook Fans, 300 cinema partners, 1200 screens

How they Evolved


In 1999,Big Tree entertainment were struggling with the

ecosystem. Net Banking and Credit cards market were not established. People ask for Home Delivery and Cash on Delivery than using Debit cards. Customers prefer to call rather than checking the website.

Generating Customer Base


In order to survive, they offered the home delivery of tickets.
Initially discount offered to encourage people to follow BMS

, giving away 15%-20% discounts, focusing on making online ticket buying attractive.

How the evolved Continue


Between 2002-2004,when multiplex culture is growing up in India,

they also offered their software solution by providing automatic ticketing software, as well as Customer Relationship management , to theatres to built their future markets.

Investments in BMS
In 2007, Network 18 group invested heavily

in the group. Thus making it second group after Accel Partners who has invests USD 18 Million Dollars i.e. Rs. 100 crores in BookMyShow.

2007: Scorpions

The first mega scale concert that was ticketed under the BookMyShow banner was the popular band - Scorpions. An event that turned out to be a grand success and BookMyShow got huge recognition.

A.R.Rehman concert goes houseful in Kolkata and Hyderabad. 2010: IPL saga

Delhi Daredevils, Pune Warriors and Rajasthan Royals.Made lots of money as it was sole channel to buy tickets online.

Sports Events and Cultural Festivals


Need for Speed:F1 comes to India BookMyShow becomes the exclusive ticket partner for Formula 1, the Indian Grand Prix. After the grand success of 2011 and continuing the relation in 2012 and now 2013.

next 5 years .

BookMyShow's Facebook fanpage has 2 Million fan base.

Mobile Application:
BMS first tablet app - the Windows 8 app was launched at a time

when the OS itself was in pre beta phase.

How they Make Money!!!


Business model of bookmyshow is convenience fees collection per

ticket. charge a convenience fee over and above the price of the ticket and pass on the entire sale of the ticket to the cinema. For concerts, events and non-movie events, they get a convenience fee or commission as a part of the ticket. Money from Cinema Software Setup/Maintenance Advertisement Media Partner. Selling Merchandise of being Human,IPL merchandise. Corporate Tie-ups/Vouchers, Gift Cards.

Future Plans
Pact with PVR
BookMyShow And PVR Enter 5 Year Partnership To Sell Rs

1000cr Tickets. Pvr Cinmas has over 374 screens in 84 cinemas in the country.This will further strengthen the existing tie-up 0f 1400+ screens.

Expansion plans
Book My show is only existing in metro cities but now they

are focusing their strategy on Tier II and Tier III towns . Focusing on smaller cities and single screen cinemas and get growth from these markets.

Future Plans Continue


As a result, Acquired Ticketgreen in Dec 2012 to add 100 single screen

cinemas to their list in Tamil Nadu.

Going ahead with M-commerce


With increase in earning through the mobile apps, they have

entered into collaboration with Nokia , for Pre-installed apps in their Lumia series smartphones to increase their sales.

Getting More customer base


The company recently revamped its website to easily figure out

tickets of new events. The Company also started My Plan scheme, based on wallet scheme of Flipkart.

Future Plans
M-commerce:

They Used the advantage of m-commerce, With the evolution

Smartphones .they started their mobile applications for BlackBerry, iPhone, Android and Windows phone platforms and claims to sell more than two million tickets per month.
