ABOUT NENGGIRI The Nenggiri River is one of the major tributaries of the Kelantan River together with the Lebir and pergau, was part of an old trade route. It has its source in the Lojing Highlands in Southwest Kelantan. From the highlands it meanders its way through a series of rapids and later joints the Kelantan River at Kuala Krai. A section of the river, from Kuala Betis to Kuala Setelu, has become the playground of adventure and nature lovers. This remote area will probably remain unchanged for some years to come. Vast tracks of virgin jungle line both sides of the river broken occasionally by an orang asli settlement and limestone outcrops. Rafting down the river on inflatable raft is the best from of traversing this section of the river. Just float down, or paddle if you want to go faster. A trip of 2 days and 1 nights will be adequate to cover this section. If you have one or two more day extras, it will cover a lot of thing about Nenggiri River with experiences guider. Just saviour the atmosphere while being accompanied by cacophony of sounds from animals and birds in a jungle environment. Of you are lucky, you may be able to sight them because they are mostly nocturnal creatures. Gua Cha (Cha Cave), 16 km downstream of Kuala Betis, has prehistoric remains and is one of the most important archeological sites in Peninsular of Malaysia.

GETTING THERE From Gua Musang it is about 30km to Kuala Betis, and the put in point is 16km beyond Kuala Betis, and conveniently close to Gua Cha, which is on the left bank of the Nenggiri. This area is accessible by four wheel drive. The tar road from town

turns into a muddy logging track, which is made worse by the procession of trucks taking out logs from the forest.
