Editorial corrections
The following corrections are in addition to the ones given in CEN TC250/SC2 document N 0609. However, the correction to 5.8.7.1 (2) in that document has been further clarified here. Clause, paragraph Page Line no. (in para.) Error Correction Replace by: "(5) The geometry is commonly idealised by considering the structure to be made up of linear elements, plane two dimensional elements and, occasionally, shells. Geometrical idealisations are considered in 5.3." Eccentricity ei should only measure the first order end eccentricity should 5.8.5 (1) Note 2 Comment, justification The present repetition of (6)P in (5) makes no sense at all, and is probably just a mistake. The text proposed for replacement is taken from the July 2002 version. It makes sense as a clarification of (4)P and with the reference to 5.3. The effect of imperfections is a first order effect, which should not include the deflection. See also definition of first order effects in 5.8.1. This is an application rule The meaning of this reference is to point out that the resulting moment should be compatible with the cross section resistance, as pointed out in 5.8.5 (1) Note 2. *) The main point here is that the moment to be magnified is the first order moment. Whether according to linear analysis or not is secondary, and in many cases irrelevant. Also check EN 1992-2 for references Expression (8.9) gives a capacity, not a length The text now implies that it is the stress in the section that should be limited, which cant be the meaning.

Amendments
Clause, paragraph Page Line no. (in para.) Present text Proposed amendment Comment, justification The minimum cover is related to exposure class with respect to chloride penetration etc. This has nothing to do with the unevenness of the surface on which the concrete is cast. The present rule may lead to inconsistencies and errors: 4.4.1.3 (4) 52 3 minimum cover allowance for deviation If the exposure class is such that e.g. 55 mm minimum cover is needed (cf table 4.4N), then k1 = 40 mm is not sufficient. If the minimum cover is e.g. 10 mm, then k2 = 75 mm may be too much. The logical way to deal with this is to modify the allowance for deviation, not the minimum cover.
