Those who want to explore the beauty of ancient temple can visit the temple of Kheer Bhavani, which was built in the year 1912 by Maharaja Pratap Singh. Located at the distance of about 27 km away from Srinagar, this temple holds the idol of Hindi Goddess Ragnya. If local sources are to be believed, the Rama, the Hindu deity, used to worship in this temple while in exile. Locals stated that the color of kheer, which is white, turns black to indicate unexpected adversity. The Shankracharya Temple is another famous temple in Kashmir situated on the Takht-e-Sulaiman, the highest point of a hill. Another renowned temple is The Martand Sun Temple built in the honor of the Hindu Sun-god, Bhasker. It is located near Anantnag town and built by King Lalitaditya of the Surya dynasty.
