Whats New
Still talking about ourselves this week as we focus on the Townsville Whats On website. We are tweaking the site, but plan to have it up and running within the week. Its at testing stage and want to work with real data so, if anyone wants to promote their organisations event or activities for September on our website, drop us an email and we will put it on there. As a bonus, anyone who decides to advertise with Townsville Whats On will receive any September 2013 events free.

All Weekend (and a little bit more):

Strand Ephemera 2013 starts today and runs until 8th September. Its more than just sculptures along the Strand. It involves free workshops, guided tours, performances and fringe events. Check out the website for more details on times and events. Full details of the event can be found on the Townsville City Council website.

While down at the Strand checkout the boats on the water as the Magnetic Island Race Week continues until 2nd September. However, if you plan to head over to Magnetic Island for all, or part, of the race there is plenty to do even if you are not in a boat. More details

2013 Masonic Fete When: From 8:30am Where: Masonic Homes, 1 Emerald St, Kirwan Saturday, August 31, 2013 Free Entry with books, plants, produce, household items, cakes, jams and sweets for sale.

JCU Campus Open Day

When: Saturday 31st August 2013, 10.00am 2.00pm

Where: James Cook University, Douglas Campus A fantastic opportunity to see all the James Cook University has to offer. There will be activities and presentations from the faculties as well as campus and accommodation tours. While there enjoy the entertainment, food and markets. The JCU website has extensive information about what is on when and where.

Bohemian Masquerade Ball Where: Federation Place, 42-50 Sturt Street, Townsville When: 31st August 2013, 7pm midnight. A Masquerade ball hosted by Full Throttle Theatre with live entertainment, dancers, music, performance, projection art and circus. Tickets $40 at the door.

Dont forget Dad on Fathers Day.

McDonald's Fathers Day Fun Run When: Registration starts 6am. Race starts at 7am. Where: Starts in Sherriff Park, Love Lane, Mundingburra and follows the river. Cost: $10 adults, $5 children If you want to get Dad out of bed early this Fathers Day, the Townsville Road Runners is holding its McDonald's Fathers Day Fun Run and Walk. This is a fund raising event for Ronald McDonald House.

Fathers Day Fiesta When: 10:30am - 8pm Where: Peppers Blue on Blue, Nelly Bay Free community day with market stalls, entertainment, kids activities and more. In association with Magnetic Island Race Week.

Fathers Day Lunch at Melvilles Tavern Where: Alligator Creek Road, Alligator Creek. (map) When: Open at 11am, Lunch Served from 12-2pm. Melvilles Farm at Alligator Creek is open from 11am 5pm with lunch served from 12- 2. With animals and a jumping castle, the kids will be entertained. Also, if you register Dad he goes into the draw for a voucher from Bunnings. NB: The EFTPOS isnt up and running yet, so take cash.

Dont Forget: Next Saturday 7th September is the federal election. If you are likely to be interstate, working or otherwise occupied, make sure you vote in advance. Details of where and when can be found on the AEC website.
