ROOT CHARAKA
In future issues I will be giving you information regarding the Charkas. This only touches the surface, there is heaps of information on the website if you would like to learn more. When the root chakra is balanced you feel grounded, centered, and able to live in the here and now. You feel alive with a strong connection to yourself and those around you. Your life is working on all levels, but even if there are areas that are not working you are confident that they will work out. You are healthy and want to take care of yourself, usually manifesting as an interest in your nutritional intake and physical exercise. Root Chakra Hobbies (Is this You) Going out to dinner, cooking, charity work, (a need to help others with their survival issues) work connected with the hands such as gardening or building work, physical exercise walking, yoga, tai chi, etc., playing with money such as the stock market, Monopoly and gambling but not to the excess, the physical raw type of love-making, hunting and any game involving muscle. Blocked Root Chakra When the root chakra is blocked there is an interruption in the flow of earth energy - your grounding and nutrition - so part of you will say, what is the point of being here, or why am I here. You will be in denial of life and lifes lessons. You will feel disconnected, rootless, alienated from others. You may have severe mood swings. Your ability to manifest will not flow. You will lack energy both physically and mentally to give you the boost you need to survive your life on earth. You will fear for your survival but lack the energy to do anything about it. Over-active Root Chakra - You can be domineering, highly strung so that you have difficulty sleeping. You may become greedy, aggressive, sexually manipulative, reckless, impulsive, and see everything and everyone as a threat. Under-active Root Chakra You can appear weak, tired, lethargic, and overcautious. You will be afraid of change. You lack confidence, fear of being abandoned, harbor self-destructive tendencies and become disinterested in life. The Root Chakra Elements

What is Hatha Yoga?
Hatha Yoga is a classic style of yoga that brings balance, strength and a sense of well-being. Hatha Yoga, in its original sense, encourages total purification of body and mind. As your body purifies so does your mind. You become more conscious of whats good for you, you slowly start to eliminate bad dietary choices and find it easier to let go of thoughts and emotions that no longer serve you. What can you expect from a Hatha Yoga session? Hatha Yoga practice targets clearing of internal channels to allow better energy flow and create balance between body and mind. Poses can be specifically selected to work on each of the chakras or they can be connected in a flowing sequence. Hatha Yoga practice is well suited for the beginners and creates a solid base to further develop into any other style of yoga. What are the benefits of Hatha Yoga? Builds strength Increases flexibility and muscle tone Brings focus to the mind Improves physical and mental balance Reduces stress Increases lung capacity for better breathing Improves posture and tones muscles By grating the whole lemon and using it on your food you will be consuming all those nutrients and get even healthier. The lemon peels are health renovators in eradicating toxic elements in the body. Lemon extract is a miraculous product that kills cancer cells and is 10,000 times stronger than chemotherapy. Laboratories are interested in making a synthetic version that will bring them huge profits. More than 20 laboratory tests since 1970 revealed that it destroys malignant cells and lemon extract was 10,000 times better than Adriamycin a chemo-therapeutic drug that slows the growth of cancer. Lemon only destroys malignant cancer cells and does not affect healthy cells. Lemon is also anti-microbial against bacterial infections and fungi and effective against internal parasites and worms, regulates high blood pressure and an anti-depressant that combats stress and nervous disorders.

LEMONS ARE NOT JUST LEMONS

Many professionals in restaurants and eateries are using or consuming the entire lemon and nothing is wasted. How is that possible? Place the washed lemon in the freezer. Once the lemon is frozen, get your grater, and shred the whole lemon (no need to peel it) and sprinkle it on top of your foods. It can be sprinkled on vegetables, salad, ice cream, soup, cereals, noodles, spaghetti sauce, rice, sushi fish dishes, even in whisky, the list is endless. All the food will expectedly have a wonderful taste, something that you may have never tasted before. Most likely, you only think of lemon juice and vitamin C. Not anymore. Advantages in using lemon this way, the peel contains as much as 5 to 10 times more vitamins than the lemon juice itself.

Good For Us
Why Do Yoga
Any physical activity will improve mobility and general health. Doing yoga decreases stress, improves flexibility and increases muscle tone and strength. Have trouble with joint pain; yoga can help by improving the bodys alignment to reduce strain on joints by allowing the frame to bear more of the bodys weight. Yoga also develops your balance, which helps you feel grounded and reduces the likelihood of injuring yourself in a fall. Yoga helps to bring the mind-body connection to the fore, which can improve self-image and acceptance of your body. Importantly, yoga can help you feel better, both improving your physical fitness and elevating your mood.

4. Yoga can help children with sleeping problems.

Children who are restless in the evening or at night can benefit from yoga for the same reasons that the practice is good for hyperactive children. Yoga helps them to get to sleep sooner and to sleep through the night.

Why Yoga is Great for Children & Teenagers

Many adults experience life as stressful and hectic, and when they do they sometimes long for the what seems like the simplicity of childhood. But have people forgotten what is it like to be a child, or worse, a teenager? Children have to deal with stress as well. There is the pressure of performing well in school, which is the most obvious source of stress for a child or teenager, but at the same time they are also trying to make sense of social conventions, while dealing with complex relationships. Yoga can be beneficial for children for the same reasons as it is beneficial for adults. Here are four of those reasons from a childs perspective. 1. Yoga teaches children control over their own body. This is a valuable tool to aid relaxation. Just like adults, children can learn to let go of stress. There are many beginner yoga poses that are simple to learn and safe to do under adult supervision. 2. Yoga can help hyperactive children. Hyperactive children are constantly looking for external stimulation. Yoga helps to calm down hyperactive children and teaches them to turn their attention inwards. Turning attention inwards reduces the need for external stimulation. 3. Yoga can help to promote a healthy lifestyle. When children start practicing yoga at an early age they can reap the benefits for the rest of their lives. The practice of yoga encourages healthy eating and mindfulness. It also get them into the habit of regular physical exercise.

Magnesium for Insomnia

In a poll conducted by the National Sleep Foundation 48% of the respondents reported having occasional bouts of insomnia, while 22 % deal with chronic insomnia. Sleep is essential for repairing muscle, consolidating memories and regulating hormone levels. Just one sleepless night can leave you with depleted energy levels and an inability to concentrate or deal with stressful situations. Things you could easily deal with normally feel overwhelming. Even though the number of prescriptions dispensed to Canadians for benzodiazepines and other sedatives increased to over 20 million in 2011, from 16.4 million in 2006, (says market research firm IMS Brogan) many of these medications can leave you feeling groggy the next day. Is it possible that the solution could be as simple as increasing your magnesium intake? For some, the answer is yes. Low levels of magnesium can cause insomnia, anxiety, irritability, muscles twitches and cramps and exacerbate premenstrual and perimenopausal symptoms. The Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences recommends that adults take in between 300mg and 400mg of magnesium daily. Although it is certainly possible to get that amount from foods such as green leafy vegetables, nuts, beans, wheat germ and whole grains, many people, especially those who consume mainly processed foods, dont. Another factor that can lead

to low levels of magnesium is its relationship with calcium. The levels of both of these minerals need to be balance for your body to function efficiently. Although you do need roughly twice as much calcium as you do magnesium, most people get more than enough calcium in their diet, even without additional supplementation, which means that for some there isnt enough magnesium to balance its effects. Muscles for instance, need both to function properly. They require calcium to contract, magnesium to relax.

Organic Apple Cider Vinegar

It has been around for decades, vinegar taken as a tonic 3 times a day can strengthen your immune system aids circulation, aids muscles and joint pain and gives you the feeling of general wellbeing. After Naomi started talking about Grandmas 1001 uses for Baking Soda and Vinegar, I purchased the book and began taking the Organic Vinegar three times a day. 2-3 teaspoons in a glass of water, its not unpleasant. Every home should have a copy of this book so much information.

Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them and try to follow where they lead.

Article from Natural Horse Magazine

Achieving Strength with Suppleness
Riding requires strength, balance and suppleness. Vinyasa Flow Yoga opens, and strengthens the whole body. Core strength keeps the rider centered and grounded on the horse. Moving with the horse without holding on with the legs or arms requires balance. Fluidity and suppleness enable balanced motion with the horses movement: forward, back, side to side, up and down. This is staying out of the horses way, which allows him to move soundly. The horse will give subtle and direct cues as to what is happening while being ridden. If he moves out freely without a rider and tack but has short choppy strides under saddle, the problem most likely lies in saddle t or rider stiffness. First, rule out dental, hoof, body, and emotional issues (consult professionals); then evaluate saddle t and headgear and correct it where necessary. Notice where you feel discomfort while riding or after you dismount. If youre sore the day after riding, those areas of discomfort are where tension was held while the horse moved. Stiffness in the rider creates stiffness in the horse, so if the rider can create a better, more supple, environment for her mounts movement, there will be less soreness and more enjoyment for both. Unlike other yoga practices, Vinyasa Flow uses the movement from one position to the next to achieve total body harmony. This movement between positions with conscious breathing becomes a total body workout to strengthen the body and improve exibility.
