Dispute Resolution Experience: Considerable experience for more than thirty years in the resolution of contractual disputes and the settlement of multi-million pound claims. Management of issues, proceeding to Arbitration and Litigation including preparation of statement of case, defence and counter claims. Past twenty years concentrated experience in acting as Client's representative in Arbitration / Adjudication. Various Expert Witness commissions in respect of delay and disruption, programme and quantum disputes. Adjudications conducted on a range of disputes (135 appointments). Listed in Law Society of Scotland Expert Witness Directory. Career History: 1963 - 67 Whatlings Ltd: Indentured apprentice Civil Engineer - gained experience in Piling Division, Building Division, Motorway Division and Estimating Dept. 1967 - 71 Strathclyde University: Obtained BSc Degree in Civil Engineering. 1971 - 73 Lanark County Council: Graduate Engineer, Roads & Bridges, Industrial Units. 1973 Admitted as Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. 1973 - 77 Norwest Holst: Contracts Manager on various projects such as design and construct multi-storey car parks, roads, bridges, drainage, schools, office development, industrial projects, water retaining structures & sewerage works and coastal protection works. 1977 - 80 Shanks & McEwan: Chief Estimator responsible for variety of tenders in civil engineering works. 1981 - 85 John Mowlem plc: General Manager responsible for Scottish activities:- roads, bridges, petro-chemical, marine, tunnelling, housing, commercial buildings, power stations, railway stations, coastal protection works, private housing developments and airports. 1985 - 87 Trafalgar House Group plc: Managing Director for Scottish operations:- roads, bridges, tunnelling, sheet piling, marine works, sewerage works, water treatment works, military works, railway stations, factories, health care, residential developments & retail developments, hotels, office developments, colleges, refurbishments and airports. 1987 - 89 Bovis Construction Ltd: Managing Director for Scotland - Data computer centre, concert hall, hotels, office developments, retail developments, industrial, banks, housing, leisure centres and refurbishment. 1990 Morrison Ross Limited: Practising Adjudicator / Arbitrator - Managing Director experienced in the preparation / defence of over 500 No. contractual claims ranging up to 20m in dispute. Have acted as Expert Witness and Quantum Expert in numerous disputes. Have been appointed as Adjudicator in 135 Adjudications. Appeared in court as Expert. Have carried out 5 No. Expert Determinations.
