LADY PATRIOT COMMITTEE To our fellow alumni and friends of St. Emma Military Academy and St.

Francis De Sales schools; We are requesting your input and/or participation in a most important venture. Lou Beatty, Jr. SEMA 63 (star of stage, movies, and television) has a leading role in the stage play, Lady Patriot. The play - written and directed by Ted Lange, whos credits include the character Isaac the bartender on the 70s TV show The Love Boat. The play combines drama and comedy (dramedy) revealing the prejudice and patriotism of three ladies who lived during the Civil War. Ted Lange Lady Patriot is based on the true stories of Varina Davis, Mary Bowser, and the courageous Elizabeth Van Lew who was one of the few successful Union spies in Richmond, Va. during the war. Lou has suggested to the Richmond area St. Francis/St. Emma alumni that doing a non- profit fund raiser for our schools using this stage play would be ideal for February 2014 ( remember, this is Black History month). To get things started we need a small committee of 6 to maybe 8 people to be formed by October 2013. This core group will be tasked with securing a performance venue that would seat at least 300 people. Lou envisions doing at least four shows, so we will need to get an agreement signed between the committee and Lange Productions which owns the play. We will need a commitment to group sales which is the key to success. If we do the right things for the right reasons, people will support our efforts.
