Bringing Human Rights Home: A Forum on the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights TODAY, 12:30, Room D201

Florida Association of Women Lawyers We Can Dream Gala Friday, September 27th

11th Judicial Circuit Civility & Professionalism Action Summit Tuesday, September 24th
The Eleventh Judicial Circuits Professionalism Committee will hold its First Civility and Professionalism Action Summit on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013 at the Newman Alumni Center at the University of Miami. More than a group discussion or seminar, this will be a working summit of judges and representatives from local voluntary bar associations working together to create solutions to issues of incivility and unprofessionalism in the legal profession.

Networked Nonprofit Workshop: Strengthen Bonds, Strengthen Leadership Wednesday, September 25th
The Leonard Turkel Nonprofit Center, a collaboration between the UM School of Business, School of Education and Human Development, and Catalyst Miami, presents a series of workshops on building strong nonprofit organizations. The first in the series is entitled New Partners, New Markets featuring speakers from the Knight Foundation. Workshops are from 8:30am-11:30am at the Newman Alumni Center, 6200 San Amaro Drive. The Womens Fund MiamiDade Screening of Playground O Cinema Miami Shores Wednesday, October 23rd
The Womens Fund presents a powerful film about the sexual trafficking of underage girls called Playground: the child sex trade in AMERICA . The screening will be followed by a brief panel discussion with community leaders working to eradicate the commercial sexual exploitation of children. David A. Winston Health Policy Fellowship


Attention 3Ls: The David A. Winston Health Policy Fellowship is a distinguished postgraduate fellowship in health policy. The fellowship provides a unique opportunity for promising students to learn about the political system through direct exposure to the roles of both the public and private sectors in health policy development. HOPE, OUTLaw, and Race & Social Justice Law Reviews Transgender Rights Panel Wednesday, October 2nd
In Miami-Dade, transgender individuals can be fired from their jobs, denied housing, and refused service simply for being who they are. Come learn about a proposed Human Rights Ordinance that would add protections for transgender individuals from the ACLU of Florida, SAVE Dade, and the TransMiami Center. HOPE Fellows Marielle Moore, who worked at the National Center for Lesbian Rights as a Policy Clerk, and Krupali Patel, who worked at the ACLU in Texas will speak about their summer experiences and how they were able to pursue their position because of the HOPE Fellowship.
