We are recognized as a National Environmental Study Area by the U.S. National Park Service for our excellence in educational programming. Task Available for Students Educational Workshop Development: Create workshops on various topics related to the environment and facilitate these workshops to elementary aged children at Alley Pond. Topics of the workshops are open for discussion with the Dr. Aline Euler but typically focus on ecosystems. Assistance with Workshops at Alley Pond: Alley Pond has extensive programming for children on an ongoing basis. Assist at these workshops but working alongside the children as they go on nature walks on the trails, create arts and crafts projects, and learn about the animals at Alley Pond. Create Resource Information: When classes visit Alley Pond they would like to be able to provide an information sheet to give to the teachers with additional information on the topic studied on the trip. For example, if the students learn about reptiles on the trip, Alley Pond would like to give the teachers an information sheet containing more detailed information that they can share with their students when they return to school. To help create an information sheet, please contact Dr. Aline Euler to set up a time to visit Alley Pond to find out what the students are taught when they visit. You can then work on the information sheets from home and submit them to Dr. Euler via email. Little Neck Bay Research Project: Examine the way to determine the affect of Global Warming on erosion of Little Neck Bay. This would be an ongoing project that could be completed each semester to collect substantial data. Student Awareness/Special Instructions Please contact Dr. Aline Euler to discuss your participation in these service projects.
