-Transgender Documentary My Uncle Gloria follows the unique transformational family story of 62-Year-Old Tough Uncle Butch to Attractive Aunt GloriaMIAMI Oct. 9, 2013 My Uncle Gloria Film LLC has signed a creative partnership with two-time Emmy award-winning writer, director and producer, Robyn Symon, to write and direct the documentary, My Uncle Gloria. The film explores how the sexual reassignment surgery (SRS) of macho, auto-salvage yard owner, Bernard Butch Rosichan into transgender activist Gloria Stein at age 62, reunited an estranged and completely dysfunctional family. Filming has already begun and post-production is scheduled for completion by Spring 2014. My Uncle Gloria includes riveting and deeply personal home videos, spanning 30 years of family life, including rare access to Glorias sexual reassignment surgery. The film also chronicles Glorias work as a dominatrix to pay for her costly surgeries and dives into her complex relationships with ex-wives, estranged sons, and her transgender life partner Dan, who undergoes a partial female to male SRS in the film. But through it all, Gloria found an unexpected ally, her nephew Steven Shulman, whose life she ultimately saves from spiraling out of control after his 22-year drug addiction and whose memoir titled, My Uncle Gloria, served as the basis for this documentary. My Uncle Gloria is an inspiring story of family healing and acceptance that everyone can relate to, no matter what gender, race or background, said author and creator, Steven Shulman. About Steven Shulman Steven Shulman is the author of the forth-coming memoir; My Uncle Gloria, a non-fictional account of how Stevens life and immediate family was profoundly and positively changed after his Uncle Butchs transformation into his Aunt Gloria. Steven descended into a lifestyle of sex, drugs and rock n roll after the murder of his father at the hands of mobsters, his mothers alcoholism, coupled with her unexpected death from a brain aneurysm at the age of 42 and his grandparents growing resentment for both him and his sister. After a long road to recovery at the age of 35, Shulman founded his own insurance agency. Now, as a successful independent insurance consultant and human rights advocate, Shulman fought for and won, equitable insurance rights for the transitioning transgender community with Gloria.
