Technology Plan Evaluation

Administration of Technology Resources


In Module 3 you were asked to locate the Technology Plan for the university, school district, school, or business where you currently work or one with which you are familiar. You will use that plan in this assignment.

Part 1:
Form a group from the members of this class with which to complete this assignment. Your group can consist of no less than 2 and no more than 3 members. The State of Georgia mandates that all school technology plans contain the following five elements:

Goals and realistic strategy for using telecommunications and information technology A professional development strategy An assessment of telecommunication services, hardware, software, and other services needed Budget resources Ongoing evaluation process

Use the technology plan rubrics provided in Module 4 to guide your group in the creation of a rubric for technology plans that will be judged on the above 5 elements. Create the rubric.

Part 2:

After completing (filling in) your rubric for the technology plan you have selected, create supporting documentation that provides the reasoning behind your analysis in each of the criteria or component areas. Explain what you found and the reason for your evaluation. Some of your answers may be only a couple of sentences and some of them may require a few paragraphs to explain your reasoning fully. Do not just make general and vague comments about the plan but be specific and detailed.

Introductory Paragraph(s): Identify background information about the Technology Plan: (When it was last updated, how actively is it followed, etc.) Body of Paper: Include an explanation for evaluation you made in each of the criteria or component areas of your rubric. Explain what you found and how you would improve each area. Organization is key here. Be sure to clearly indicate which criteria or component of the rubric you are addressing using section headings AND follow your rubric in order.

Summary Paragraph(s): Overall assessment of the plan, how does it fit your evaluation of the educational institution, what unique situations do you see in your educational institution?

NOTE: This evaluation is in preparation for the Final Project in which you will update the Technology Plan to achieve the maximum level of comprehensiveness. While you are only being asked to evaluate the technology plan's present condition at this time, consider how you would rewrite/restructure the plan to meet the levels expected in the Technology Planning Analysis Rubric. The Grading Rubric for this exercise is located on the next page.
