How does Otovent relieve the pain?

The Otovent procedure can be performed at home under the supervision of an adult. This painless treatment takes only a matter of seconds to complete: 1. With one nostril pinched shut, and the balloon mounted nose plug held against the other nostrum, the patient inflates the balloon. 2. Once fully extended, the patient then allows the air to re-enter the nose and swallows, achieving trans-Eustachian tube middle ear insufflation. 3. Repeat 2-3 times daily, for up to 4 weeks.
